Welcome to his world ...
In a relatively new world that remains to this day mostly unexplored, where the only inhabitants are at most only a few solar years old, and yet can be fully grown or remain children for their entire lives; where the weather is what you want it to be: beautiful and sunny, dark and rainy, cold or warm; where life is neither more nor less than what you want it to be …
... in a place and a time unknown to most ... No one knows how or when he came into existence … or if he has always been there … or if he has just arrived … what he is … or who he is … or what he is doing … or where he came from … those who know him know only his name … and that he is … and can be … terribly frightening … to those who know him … just as much as to those who do not …
... a man who defies understanding.
He reveals himself to few … he speaks to fewer still … and only one … can say that she truly knows him …
A long time ago, on a morning filled with rain and fog, a miracle occurred. A thin black vase with gold bands stopped spouting sparks, wobbled a bit, and tipped over, landing silently in a pile of leaves that one might almost think had been prepared especially for the occasion. Out of the vase tumbled an odd assortment of items – a short sword, some daggers, a bow, a quiver and some arrows – all of them so small that most people would consider them to be toys. But to the doll-sized, black-cloaked child that crawled out only a few moments later, they were the perfect size to do everything he needed.
And thus, Corrah entered the world of the Second Yous.
For a long time, the boy trained himself with the weapons he had been given. From surprise to child, he fought every chance he got, against himself, against others, against animals. From child to teen, he set himself new goals, new challenges, never letting himself rest, never letting himself slack. From teen to adult, he spent all of his time training himself until he came to the point where he discovered that there were few who would even try to defy him.
But there were new challenges. For so long isolated from human company, he found himself one day in the presence of a stranger – a girl, no less. And he found, for the first time in his life, that he did not know what to do. He did not know how to speak to her. He did not know how to act. She, youthful and full of life, desired to learn from him: his way of life, his methods of survival …
And so he taught her, and together they worked out their own style of fighting, one so far removed from anything formally taught elsewhere, and yet one so strong and so powerful that few can overcome them.
As time passed, the bond between them grew until one day he took her as his lover …
Since that time, he has never looked back …
And only now has he emerged to interact with others of his kind.
Join him in his story.

Corrah has always lived a solitary life ... or did until he met the girl that would become his lover ... even now he has few contacts at all, preferring things to remain as they have always been, and except for a very few, he refuses to let anyone even come near him.
This is their space.
Family
Armus Armus came into Corrah's life when she was just a child, lost, starving and injured in the forest in the middle of a storm. Feeling sorry for her, he took her in and cared for her, training her and teaching her how to fend for herself, and defend herself. During one spar and quite unintentionally, they found that they had a mutual attraction and became lovers. Since that time they have lived together as equals, content with the way things were, avoiding change when they could.
Special exceptions
Celebor and Niyana One night the two of them decided to explore the mountainous region of the Seconds World had until then been unknown to any but Corrah and his lover. They managed to gain his grudging respect and in return he agreed to train their children in his ways.
Ruran One of the three children Corrah agreed to train. He is selfish and stubborn and has a bad temper, but Corrah believes that his pride will help him in his training to become an excellent fighter.
Aras One of the three children that Corrah agreed to train. She is full of energy and spunk, and is a quick learner, despite not getting along with her brother at all.
Kanis One of the three children Corrah agreed to train. She dreams of being a knight one day, and she has the heart and soul of one already. She is a quick learner, a hard worker, and always eager to please her teachers.
Other people he's run into
Ashoka The moment Corrah allowed his existence to be made known to other Seconds, Ashoka tried to attach herself to him - literally. Starving for power and sex, she refused to let him go, even after he broke a number of her bones. Corrah holds nothing but disgust for her.
Lin, Miyu, and Toshiro Three Seconds unfortunate enough to stumble quite innocently into what Corrah considers his territory. Corrah terrified the younger two and gave Lin a healthy respect for his strength. He hopes that they will have the sense to avoid his mountains in the future.

Fateful Encounter
For the first time since saving Armus from that tree, I have come into contact with someone that I do not know. Two someones, in fact. An elvish man and a human woman. Celebor and Niyana.
They were wandering around on my mountain ... I do not know exactly where they come from, but the woman ... while quick-tempered and quite headstrong ... had been on the mountain when she was young ... so I cannot forbid her and her family from coming here when they wish.
I say family, because apparently they have four children that they would like me to train. I shall discuss it with Armus and see what she thinks. After all ... it would be an intrusion into our lives.

Damned Whore
There is a reason why I choose not to leave my mountains. I have always lived a solitary life. Even after allowing Armus to live with me, and after taking her as my lover, and having her stay with me as the one who is dear to me, more dear than anyone or anything else, it has always been the two of us, and we have lived here quite happily. She has never complained of the solitude, nor expressed any desires to return to visit wherever it is that she came from, though I have asked her many times, and continue to do so, if she would like to do so. We have been happy with no one but the animals to keep us company.
Yet for some reason I was compelled the other day to descend to the lowlands, where I was immediately set upon by the most whorish creature – and I say creature because I do not believe that she is truly alive – and she seemed to be quite intent on either getting me naked or getting herself killed. I’m not sure which yet. I don’t even think she cared which it was. It only served as a reminder to me of why I do not like to go down there.
I suppose that my main reason for being so irritated is the fact that there was a part of me, some part that is still animalistic, the part that Armus has not yet penetrated, that didn’t mind her. But Armus is the one that I love, and I can never do anything to harm her.
My weakness has been shown to me, and in a manner which could not have been worse. I must train myself harder … with Armus’s help, of course. I must be able to rise above such a temptation. I cannot even allow myself to entertain the idea of being with any woman other than Armus!
Goddesses help me.

Useless Brats
In all of the time that I have been alive, I have never seen so many people coming to the mountains. For as long as I can remember, I have been left alone. Armus’s arrival was a surprise, not an irritation. But three times in as many days I have been accosted by people who are rude, irritating, and stupid. There is no other word for them. They are stupid. Children … children! If they could fend for themselves then perhaps they would deserve a chance to explore the mountains. But this place is dangerous; they would never have survived an hour alone.
The eldest girl showed courage, but no strength. Courage avails nothing. Strength and skill are needed to survive. From my infancy I have known this. I have practiced this. I have passed on my skill to Armus and she hers to me, and together we have becoming strong, more than strong enough to survive out her. But the children … they would have been killed so quickly. I frightened them, yes … terrified them, yes … but I also saved them, for now and quite possibly in the future. The mountains are not safe. Watching from a distance, I have seen that the number of adults in the community is growing … perhaps that is why they are finally heading out this way. The last unexplored and untamed area of this world.
Granted, I think it was always the only unexplored place. It is most definitely the only area with the dangers that it presents. Still, those who are unable to care for and defend themselves have no place here. Those children should not come back. I hope that they do not. If I have to actually harm them to make sure that they don’t, then that is what I will do. I do not want them to die. So they must be made to stay away.
It is that simple.

Start Of A Family
Thunder rolled through the dark sky and rain pelted down as Corrah walked along the mountainside that he called home. It had been a humid day, but since the storm had begun the humidity had begun to dissipate. On the whole, it wasn’t too bad. Then again, he was used to weather of all sorts – nothing ruffled him after this long.
He had his hood down, something that most people would think was strange. But he liked the feeling of the rain in his long hair. It made him feel more alive, more one with his surroundings. It also allowed him to hear more – the rain against his hood clouded his hearing, but with the cloth out of the way he could still hear everything around him.
Lightning struck a tree nearby, and he raised one arm to shield himself from the flying wood chips, turning his head away only slightly. Thankfully, an event like this did not happen often.
As the thunder died away, he heard another sound, one that he had never heard before –
A human voice.
His bright eyes flashed as he looked around, startled. Where was it coming from?
“Hello?” he called out. It had been a child’s voice … a child should not be out in this weather on their own … even he hadn’t been out in weather like this when he had been a child. On top of that, he knew he was unusual, and that most people would not enjoy storms the way he did. In fact, he recalled fearing them at one time.
For a few moments he could hear nothing but the pounding rain, but the suddenly, just before thunder drowned it out again, he heard: “Help …”
A female.
He stood and moved in a slow circle, his eyes scanning the area, searching for the source of the voice. From where he was standing, however, he couldn’t see anyone. He heard the cry for help again, and turned in the direction that it was coming from. He moved forward swiftly, eyes working, straining to find the source.
Finally, he found her.
Up in the lower branches of a tall tree a little girl was shivering. She had long blond hair that fell to her mid-back, but it was straggly and unkempt. Her clothes were nothing more than rags. She was sitting on the branch, her back against the trunk, her head buried in her arms.
“Help,” she whimpered - and Corrah could hear that she was crying, even though she was hiding her tears. He moved until he was standing beneath the tree, almost right below her, and watched her silently for a moment. She was thin – very thin … unhealthily thin.
“Girl,” he called out, his brow furrowing slightly in worry.
The girl started and looked down at him, her blue eyes filled with tears. She was bleeding from a cut beneath her left eye, and her hands, knees, and feet – perhaps from climbing the tree, Corrah thought. Though that wouldn’t account for the cut under her eye …
She stared at him, and the look in her eyes reminded him of a cornered rabbit. Her chest was rising and falling at the same rate, anyways – updownupdownupdownupdown … her breath was so fast she was going to exhaust herself just by breathing.
“Do you need a place to stay to wait out the storm?” he called up to her, his tone perhaps a little gruff. Well, it wasn’t strictly his fault – he didn’t know how to talk to people. He had never talked to anyone before. Ever.
The girl nodded jerkily.
“Jump into my arms,” Corrah instructed her, moving to stand directly below her and holding his arms up to catch her. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you fall.”
The girl nodded again and shifted a bit, preparing to jump. Her eyes flickered anxiously at the ground, and then back to Corrah’s eyes, and she shifted forward and pushed off from the branch.
She was jerked to a stop just as her toes reached Corrah’s hands, her long hair caught in the branch, and a strangled scream escaped her throat. At the same moment, even before she stopped moving, Corrah had his sword out and he sliced her hair close to her head, letting her drop into his arms safely. She was crying harder now, and her scalp was bleeding slightly, and she cuddled against the dark man’s chest.
Corrah sheathed his sword again and held her in his arms, looking at her in a mix of relief and loss. Glad she was all right, but really having no idea what to do with her. She was a child … what was she doing out there?
With a sigh, he turned and started up the mountain once more. He would just have to figure something out.

Taking Trainees
I'm not quite sure what possessed me to do it, though I'm sure Armus's logic played its part, but I am now officially the trainer of four children. Not all siblings; no, I would not take the second boy of Niyana and Celebor. He was a weak, fearful, pathetic little thing ... no, the fourth child is one that Armus herself has adopted. A wolf boy that she found on the mountain. Or who found her, I'm not quite sure which way it went.
At any rate, I now have four children under my wing. Aras, wild and free spirited, gifted and strong. Kanis, quiet and complacent, strong and eager to learn. Rhea, wolf boy, learning to be human more than learning to defend himself. And Ruran, stubborn, rebellious, disrespectful, and selfish. If he lasts the entire training without me killing him, it will be a miracle.
I don't know if I will be able to continue this until they are all adults. I shall see as time presses on. The girls are tolerable, even a pleasure to teach; Rhea, I have no choice, as he is my own adopted son; Ruran ... will be a test.
I only hope that I am up for that test.
