Meet the odd one out Cyrill

name: Cyrill Menniadis
pronounciation: 'sir-əl (SEER-il)
meaning of name: Cyrill comes from the greek 'Κύριλλος' meaning 'lordly' or 'masterfully'.
nickname: Cy (pronounced as 'shy')
race: human
nationality: Russian/Greek
birthplace: Athens, Greece
age: 14
date of birth: February 17, 2008
zodiac sign: Aquarius
chinese zodiac sign: Rat
height: 163cm.
weight: approximately 45kg.
blood type: 0-

appearance: His small figure is quite fit and strong, proving that muscles doesn't need to show to be well trained. He's a bit underweight for his height but it doesn't show, especially by the way he dresses. His blond hair are of medium length, a bit longer than shoulder-length and have a habit of not staying were Cyrill puts them so he uses a hair clip to keep some pinned to his head. His eyes are said to be his most intriguing feature, bright, honest and expressive in a bright shade of clear baby blue. His skin is quite pale, never tanning no matter how long he stays in the sun. He usually manages to get burns but then the skin returns to its previous milky white. This can be explained by a possible lack of carotene in his organism but, who knows?

clothing style: casual
outfit: Cyrill is a person who doesn't feel comfortable unless in his own casual clothing. His usual outfit would consist of a long sleeve shirt in a dark colour (usually black), a short sleeve overshirt in a lighter colour (in some pale bright colour, like light pink, green or blue) and simple black pants (or black jeans on occasions) along with comfortable matching black loafers (I'm not sure if 'loafers' is the right term to use, it's those shoes the japanese call 'uwabaki', traditionally worn along the school uniform when inside the school). He also adores pajamas when indoors but that's another story. He does not wear any jewelery or accesories other than his hair clip because it is making him uncomfortable. In the same fashion he is never seen wearing a watch either...

hobbies and interests: ever tried dancing? Cyrill's overmost passion is dancing. He can dance anything from classical ballet to tango and funky jazz. Because of that passion of his he has developed the habit of listenning to music everywhere and anywhere. Furthermore he is fascinated by literature and poetry and it's easy to spot him in a library if he's not somewhere else practicing his dancing.

personality traits and vernacular: Cyrill is a footloose and happy person, this is a result of his upbringing in the countryside and the simple life he has been leading. He will smile at the smallest of things and is easily moved by tragic stories or even the smallest misfortunes of others. In other words he is very expressive and never keeps feelings bottled up. If he feels to cry he will cry and if he feels to laugh he will as well. Likewise he will show it when he is angry or annoyed without hesitation. Other than that he tends to be rather quiet, disliking speaking loud as well, and can adapt in any environment without much difficulty. Despite being this quiet if one offends him or someone close to him he will fight for his -or his friends'- pride no matter what it takes. He can also be rather childish at times, becoming stubborn and quite reckless.
There are certain keywords that can trigger various aspects of his personality. For example he gets really angry when people discuss about death like its something natural and affectionate words centered on him will make him buckle up and turn all shy and awkward. Discussing his small size and almost efeminate beauty will either make him sullen or will most probably trigger his childish, stubborn self.
As far as his way of speaking is concerned he talks in a very kind manner without the use of much formallity. His way of speaking is just as simple as the rest of him. He speaks in a quiet tone usually coloured a thousand hues by his musical voice. This also serves as another way apart his eyes to tell how he is feeling on the moment, about you, or for somebody else.

special talents...: Ever since small Cyrill distributed an odd ability that usually made the other children his age to laugh at him. He was being very, very conscious of his environment and never had many problems with diversing his attention to several things a time and keeping track of them. This way he seemed to be getting lost in his own world, often not paying attention to others, or sitting, laying to a sigle place without moving at all, eyes open wide and every sense at ready to receive every little bit of information his environment had to give. Growing up he found out that he could use that to effectively watch different things on many screens simultaneously or listen to different sounds at the same time and memorize them. This helped a lot with his homework and school and soon, combinned with hard work, his grades skyrocketted. If he tries to pull that -trying to memorize immense loads of information- for too long though, his body suffers casualties. He may faint or have a high fever, usually he sleeps a lot after hard tries like that, his longest 'nap' being thirty eight hours up to date, when he tried watching ten screens for about two hours. It's like his mind needs time to sort and store the information it has pilled up.
To sum it up, his 'special' observation ability allows him to handle high information loads and pay attention to multiple, peripherical stimuli.

Family background: Cyrill's familly consisted of three people up to when he was four years old. After his father's death it was just him and his mother. Soon they moved in with his aunt, Irene, her husband Alexis and their daughter and Cyrill's cousin Magdalenne. Soon his twin sisters would be added to the family. They are five years younger than him, their names are Ljubica and Anjia. He was living up to now with his mother, his sisters and the animals that make up their small farm, hidden amongst the mountains of greece in their small village community.

Plus some further details

likes: the rain, cool and cold weather, snow, (he was brought up in the mountains remember?) snacking on things (who doesn't?), letting his creativity flow, dancing, eating dessert first (he's a kid at that, yeah)
dislikes: strong sunlight, heat (it exhausts him), being kicked around, annoying people, people with no sense of humour (humour him!).

favourite colour:indigo, black and all the soft tones of bright colours
favourite place: wherever his friends are
favourite food: pastitsio, fast food and anything that is sweet and salty at the same time
favourite drink: Blackberry juice
favourite candy: Chocolate and sugar canes
favourite subjects: P.E. (seriously, he dances, what did you expect?), languages, mathematics (he has a practical head) and whatever has to do with things he had never been involved with
favourite time of the day: The in-between hours, late evening (before nightfall) and very early morning (before dawn)
favourite season: winter
favourite song: Nefeli's tango (by greek artist Haris Alexiou) and Finished Symphony (by hybrid)
favourite read: Poetry of any kind, light-hearted manga and other comics (didn't I tell you he's still a child?)

A life like a nightmare fairytale.

When Cyrill's family was attacked he was just a little boy, and little does he remember from that time. He and his small three-member family where living in Greece's capital, Athens. His father, Dimitrios Menniadis, was a doctor and his mother, Olga Petrova, a teacher for disabled children. He had never believed, at that time, that his family could be attacked like this. But it hapenned and his father was killed. His mother managed to get away and taking him by the hand they walked for endless miles to the north. Their goal was to reach Dimitrios' birthplace, a countryside town of western Macedonia by the name of Florina. Olga knew that nobody would come after them there, between the rocky mountains, they'd be shielded...

The worse thing was that no one offered or accepted to give them a lift with their vehicle even if they were going in the direction they were headed. But it was understandable, concidering the hell they were leaving behind. They had already lost their ability to trust. Those escaping were few, so very few survivors that it was devastating for Olga and her little boy. Travelling about four houndred killometers in a good month's time they finally literaly tripped over the city's doorstep, since they were quickly recognized by Dimitrios' sister, Irene, who hapenned to pass by. This way the woman and her child found themselves in a small community of fifty five people instead of the ten thousand it used to be.

Two months later Cyrill and Olga where settled in alongside Irene's familly. Cyrill's older cousin, a girl named Magdalenne took good care of him while his mother worked in the local hospital, practicing half of her actual proffession, as a nurse, trying to cure the wounded or the sick. Soon his mother proved to be pregnant to Dimitrios' last child, scratch that, children, twin girls... Surprised, yet fascinated and a little bit worried Olga realized that she couldn't stay with Irene's family when the twins where going to be born and since houses were practically free, since nobody occupied them anymore, she moved out fast.

Six months later Cyrill and Olga moved to a village named Tropeuhos -named after the village's church that was famous for the miracles that had hapenned there in the past-. Cyrill's mother thought it was the perfect place for them to start a new life, maybe saint George, of the village's church, would watch over them now and maybe he wouldn't let something like what hapenned in Athens occur again. The village had a population of about twenty, now, twenty and two.

The twins where born a bit early, around their second week after Olga had entered the eightth month of her pregnancy. The little girls were named Anjia and Ljubica and they were going to soon grow into two little devils that only Cyrill's presence seemed to be able to calm down. They wouldn't eat unless it was him helping to feed them, and they wouldn't sleep unless Cyrill was present in the room. The little him back then had no problem helping his mother with them so everything went by smoothly. Soon his mother's business wasn't needed as much -due to the small population- and it would seem they really had been blessed by coming to that little village. Soon his mother decided that since they were in the countryside they could go by getting a few animals and so their household soon grew by fifteen new members. Those were a pony, a horse, three hen, a rooster, five goats, a cow, an ox and two young shepherd dogs. In other words they had just established a small farm to run for themselves.

Soon, Cyrill's mother also brought in some things missing up here, things they used to have in their old house. One of these was a piano -not a grand one, like that back home, but it was still a piano-, Olga used to give private piano lessons to those interested, back then. This was the spark that first moved Cyrill to start dancing. The musical vibes seemed to sink into his flesh and make his soul vibrate too, like the string of a guitar or, better, a violin. It made his heart race and... his feet move...
So it was rather easy for his hidden talent to be discovered by his mother who always watched him closely, like she did to the twins as well. No long after, his mother sent him to start actual lessons for him to excercise, it was good there was someone around who knew how to teach him. His dancing is to be blamed for the how strictly disciplined he seems to be in various aspects of his later life as a teenager.

Time went by peacefully up there, day after day, week after week, month after month... year after year... Once in a while they would have news from the outside world but Olga did not want to hear about it. She didn't want to go back into whatever she ran away from the capital, the hellfire, the killings, her husband's death... She wanted the best for her children and she strongly believed this wasn't amidst a battlefield but here, were they could live a peaceful life in their solitude. Anjia and Ljubica were still small to be interested into that sort of thing. The one really into this was Cyrill though, he would absorb every drop of news from the "Outside" as his mother called it and keep it deep inside of him. All this pain, the agony of all those killed, the orphans... The fighting, he wanted to relinquish it, he wanted to make it dissapear. He wanted to help everyone so they could relinquish it. It might be that he had just such a simple mind that he thought he could do something about the whole situation or maybe he was just too good a person and just sympathized with everyone... But this wasn't really it.
Cyrill remembered how his father died, it was one of the little images that were burn into his memory from back then. He remembered how his mother used to cry, along with the pain he, himself felt. It clashed so much with the feelings he experienced in his everyday life that he just wanted, needed to make them dissapear. It might sound selfish but he hated those 'bad' feelings. He wanted them out of his head, out of his life... he didn't want anyone else to feel them either.
Yet he knew in his simple, logical head that this was quite impossible for a ten-year old such as himself to achieve. These things only hapenned in comics and in movies and sometimes, maybe, in fantasy novels, but that was as far as it went, after all...

...or was it...?

You can never expect the Spanish Inquistion...

Saving the World...? Really, Cyrill doesn't believe he can do that, at least he doesn't expect to do it on his own. He is confident to try though, step by step... He is willing to help and try his hardest in order to, as well.

The idea of the school is appealing to him. He appreciates the fact that everyone does their best in order to help in one way or another. His mind is really simple so he doesn't ponder a lot about things such as that. Everything is as it is, and nothing more or less...

If one was to ask him, Cyrill is fascinated by the idea of becoming a member of the school of Magic. Actually everything new excites him, so it's rather natural. His special abilities though can be put in better use in the school of S&T... not forgetting that his main infuence was his father who was a doctor, after all...

Bits and pieces of a freak's dreamer's life.

[DEPARTURE]

A small frown occupied the blond's delicate features as he reached out to hug his twin sisters. Anjia and Ljubica clung to him like not wanting to let go, but he didn't want to either, really. Maybe it was too late to turn back, and maybe he didn't really intend to, but looking over at his mother he thought of the how much he'd miss all of them now that he'd be away and it made him sullen.

"Εισαι καλα;" (are you feeling fine?) his mother asked in Greek. Cyrill nodded his head slowly, standing up away from his sisters' embracement.
"I'm okay mom." he repplied in English cocking his head to one side to look at her. He had been practicing his English over the past few months not to talk with some weird accent or anything when he'd go to his new school. He glanced backwards towards the plane that would be flying him away to his destination, his new home and school.

"Mom..." he took a couple of steps towards his mother. He felt like he couldn't go any closer or his knees would fail him. "I'm sorry..." he mumbled. "I know you didn't want me to go..."
Olga shrugged and smilled thinnly over at her son. "You have to 'do' what you 'have' to do..." she trailed off, looking at the sky above their heads. Their time together was running out fast. "I believe there was a time both your father and I understood that." she looked like she was about to cry and Cyrill just had that urge to go and hug her and so he did. One last time, one last embracement before he would leave. His mother held desperately onto him and sighed.

"Remember to be a good boy and don't cause trouble , okay?" she spoke quietly. Cyrill withdrew and went to pick up his things to head for the plane.
"I know, mom, I know..." Cyrill said smilling his usual warm smile over at her. "I'll be careful, don't you worry. If nothing I will, for you three!" he waved goodbye as his sisters and mother boarded the car, because it was a bit cold outside at the time -and of course they had come here on a car, after all the nearest airport to their home was in Kozane, a good two-hour drive from there.

Turning around he just walked ahead towards the plane. He sighed, letting his anxiety go away, because there simply was no need for it anymore, he had to be prepared, he had to be ready to start his new life now, after it has been a while ever he started thinking that it would be good to help others with whatever he could do, and if some school for 'Saviours' wanted him in, he was more than willing to try. His thoughts had made his smile return now and so when he boarded he didn't look back. He feared that he might see his mother's tears behind the window... 'cause he knew that she'd cry, eventually.

Shaking his head as he went ahead to get himself seated he looked at the few others on the plane, there was practically nobody he could talk to and so, once he had sat down where he was supposed to do so he routed in his pockets to find his MP3 player. Putting the earphones on he turned the volume up and let himself sink into the music.

Whatever his future might hold, it was just for him to discover now, no one else...

Can YOU speak read BINNARY?
This is something random I felt like including ^ ^
Can you decode it? It's meaningless talk from a roleplay addict, so even if you don't, it's still the same... heh... (I can also tell you what it means though...)

Curiosity killed and the Cat.

[THREE ASPECTS OF ME AND IT'S STILL MYSELF!]

"And be careful! Very careful on your way there. Anjia listen to your brother, Ljubica, you too." Olga saw the three siblings off. She wanted to clean up the house and so she came up with a plan to... evacuate it. Said 'plan' was to send the children off to have some fun in the fields while she would take on the hard labour.

"Yes, mother!" all three repplied together. They walked away quietly until they were out of Olga's sight. Anyone seeing them like this would have said they looked really cute together. Cyrill was in the middle wearing his usual loose clothes and his sisters, each of them holding one of his hands, were wearing cute little dresses their aunt, Irene had sewed for them. As said, that was until they were out of Olga's sight, cause once there...

"Cyrill, you're it!" it was Anjia that first decided to go ahead, Anjia always was the one. The next moment both her and Ljubica where a good five meters ahead of him. They were always fast and agile like that, of course he always let them get away with it or else it would be quite unfair. Quickly springing after them he gained ground -infuristingly- easy. His feet only tapped the ground, ever so lightly, as much needed to propell him ahead without causing a lot of impact to the foot, which would eventually slow him down. In what felt like but split seconds later he had touched both twins on their shoulders and was ahead of them as well.

He didn't say anything, instead he climbed up the closest tree and stared at his little sisters from up above.
"That's cheating, Cyrill!" Ljubica protested, pouting at her brother.
Cyrill put on one of his smug smilles and raised two fingers in his sisters' direction making the letter 'V'.
"V for Victory!" he exclaimed and giggled. Right about then someone poked him from behind and the way he was jumped he slipped and fell on the grass bellow.

"Yo, foolin' 'round 'gain, Cyriru?" a red-headed girl with weird accent popped her head out of the higher branches and stared down at him.
"What the hell, Cossette?" Cyrill frowned up at her, sticking his tongue out.
Cossette shrugged and climbed down the tree. She extended a hand to help him get up.
"Wan' a lift?" she asked while shrugging, as if she didn't care. Cyrill sighed and looked away. He always hated when things like that would happen. He was half its cause, but hey! That was no reason to poke him off a tree!! Pushing up on his own he glared at Cossette.

"Maybe another time." he said turning around. Now he was being rude.

"Maybe next 'ime." Cossette laughed and looked away.

It was not half a minute later that Cyrill spoke again. He was now straightenning his clothes while trying to fix his hair with the other hand, thing that was proving quite difficult to do.
"Say, Cossette, will you come by our place in the evening? We can play games or something..." he offered, completely forgetting that he was supposed to be holding a grudge right now for having fallen off the branch.

"Yah." the girl repplied. "See ya then, then. My ma asked for somth', I gotta be back quick." saying that she waved at the two and proceeded walking down the path the three had followed to come there.

"Bye, Cossy!" the twins waved as well and turned back to Cyrill. Walking up to him they took hold of either of his hands as well.
"I think you're it, now, Cyrill!" Anjia smiled at her brother. Cyrill nodded and smilled his goofy smile.

"So what are we going to play next?" Cyrill asked and looked up in the clouds. He really just wanted to lay down and sleep now... right then and there, on the soft grass... but... his little devils required attention and so, well...

Okay first, Thank you for not putting another Alex in the School. =D

I like his personality and his special talent is definately going to be entertaining to interact with.

The only problems that might occur is that I think he might be a bit too passive. Which I suppose is fine in the beginning but I hope you plan for him to become more initiative.

^ ^ I always choose the odd one to roleplay! Heh... I don't like playing cliche characters...

I believe you are right! And I suppose he will become as time will pass... it's only natural, if you think his interaction has been quite limited up to date...

I just want to clarify - was his father killed by the alien invasion?

My second question is, where did he get to watch the TV screens? Being out in the middle of no where all his life doesn't seem to present too many opportunities for television/observation. :3

I have no problems with his personality. I like that he acts like a teenager. His random love of dancing and his unique ability make him very intruiging!

Pending my questions and your RP sample (and for the love of everything holy, what the heck does the binary say? XD), I'll give you my approval.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 17, 2008 9:07 pm

^-^ Yay. Let's repply to ze questions now:

1. Cyrill's father was killed in the invasion, I believe, but I think I made a bit of a tragic mistake with the timeline >.<' (I'll corect if needed)

2. Oooh, I realized I never explained that (did I?), my mother's coming from that little place over there and there's one thing that makes the village stand out despite it being smaller that those surrounding it... it has its own generators, so when the main electricity factory (which is not THAT very far away) shuts down, the village still gets to move along. -of course I believe it was a fault not to include this since one that has never been over there can't know that (*gets shot by some sniper*)- Now, despite it being a small village and there would not naturally be a lot of televisions around I suppose he just wanted to test his limits by putting (borrowed?) screens together and trying to follow with the load of information.

As for the oportunities for observation, in general, I believe there's no better place than the middle of nowhere to be done. Nature provides more stimuli than a hundred technological sources ever will, or so I believe...

3. Decoding the bin(n)ary: ^__^ It simply states I'm looking forward to start roleplaying with everyone, including a small comment about the actual binary text for being 'short and sweet' plus a smiley face like this ^ ^. Direct translation would be: "Oblivion is looking forward to roleplay with everyone! There... short and sweet! ^ ^"

4.Sample RP will be up shortly, I'm proofreading it right now!
