Thunder rumbled softly in the distance as the blue-grey clouds gathered in the heavens, ready to unleash their burden upon the dry earth. Lightning flashed among the embrace of the grey, painting a splash of light against the darkness before fading with a soft murmur. The winds danced to the harmony of the storm spirits as the spirits of the earth took shelter from their harsh touch.
In the midst of the prologue of natures’ strength, a young filly stood among the farce shelter of the trees, watching as the storm finally unleashed it’s cool bounty to the world of the mortal walkers. Neon eyes sparkled at the scenery before her: the soft drizzle brought a cloudy mist to cling to the blades of grass as the winds rustled the trees and let the leaves dance to that unknown song. The thunder and lightning had ceased to exist….leaving only silence, and an air of loneliness to this pasture.
Silver and white fur glimmered from the droplets hanging onto the strands as small wings unfurled halfway and gave a soft flap, blowing the cool mist forward as golden hooves contrasted against the earthen tones around her….
She listened, just standing there with her eyes closed before a song crept forth from her very soul. A song of loneliness and lost loves….
Please, please forgive me but I won't be home again Maybe someday you'll look up and barely conscious you'll say to no one isn't something missing?
Nakia smiled as the song continued, her childish yet gentle voice ringing out through the empty meadow…. it spoke of things beyond her own experiences, yet it was something everyone would go through during a lifetime….
You won't cry for my absence, I know you forgot me long ago Am I that unimportant? Am I so insignificant? Isn't something missing? Isn't someone missing me?

As the storm unfurled so did the majestic stallion's own feathery appendages as they shook off the water droplets that tried sticking to them. He moved smoothly seeking a dry spot eager to reign in from the pelting water that soaked his fur to a darker sand in color. He searched here and there though actually the great Prince was enjoying this emotion of weather as it quenched the thirst of the land and watered the grass and dirt beneath him. He finally just went with the flow with a jovial laugh till it subsided standing still finally to breathe in the sweetness of a fresh fallen rain.
As he moved along his ears perked to something, someone that was singing. A beautiful melody from someone's heart as it sang with softness and longing. Moving now toward the sweetness he finally noticed a young foal colored like a gray dove with water colored hair mingled with golden touches. Her voice was entrancing as the stallion stepped closer. He moved with a smooth yet quiet arrival though his ornamental accessories were quite the giveaway. When he was nearly a few feet away he spoke in a regal deep yet gentle tone, "That is quite lovely. Did you learn that from the valley of the sands? It reminds me of what I used to hear from where I arrived from."

She had just started to sing the next portion of the song when the deep voice spoke behind her, causing little Nakia to squeak in surprise and spin around. She hadn't ment for anyone to listen to her while she sang, Nakia was deathly shy when it came to her particular talent.
"I-i'm sorry! I...I didn't know that- I...um...." She quickly bowed her head as a shy blush spread across her face. "It was nothing special, a song that fits the mood around me...nothing more, nothing less." That regal voice...although she had yet to look at the other straight in the eye, something told the young filly that this was a Soquili to be respected; a being of noble blood, from the sounds of it.
"F-from the valley of the sands, My lord?" Nakia had never heard of sure a place, yet...something from within her made it sound like it was somewhere she had been before. " I-I don't know of such a place...I have lived here since the day I came into the world." She smiled, yet kept her head bowed in respect. "The only sand I know of is that which lies on the riverbanks."

He chuckled for this hatchling as he called them was fresh to the world and new to the makings of things around her. She was respectful which was a good thing in his eyes, so he chose his words rather carefully.
"Well it is a lovely song and I am grateful to hear a songbird after the rains have fallen to the parched land. Raise your head as an equal child for in this land I'm no prince as I was back home." he soothed with a nod of his head blowing out softly.
Closing his eyes he spoke once more, "I come from a land where your riverbank sands stretch so far they reach outward for miles and never cease. You may walk onward for days and the sands never disappear. Only an oasis is your salvation as your thirst speaks of the water that lies in front of you... but if you blink you will find its nearly an illusion to the mind." he said with another nod though his head was always held upright with a proud stance when he spoke.
"You have beautiful eyes little one... they match the song your heart has spun." he chuckled knowing she'd beam at that comment but he wasn't so vain not to notice a budding flower as she was opening to the world.

Nakia did as the other requested, raising her head slowly before letting her eyes taken in the figure standing before her. His eyes are what drew in the young filly the most: they spoke of a regal sterness that demanded she get down on her knees and kiss the ground before his hooves, yet at the same time they held a warmth and gentleness that had been woven into his voice seconds before.
Wishing her wings were big enough to hid the light blush on her face, Nakia smiled and listened as the Prince spoke so fondly of his homeland of warmth and illusions. Smiling at the images he conjoured up within her mind, Nakia nodded happily as he finished.
"It sounds so wonderful, My lord." Her bright eyes glimmered in wonder at the though of visiting such a place before they darken as a new trouble entered her heart. "But...if water vanishes with a single blink of an eye, then...um...how were you and your people able to dwell in such a land?"
The compliment about her eyes caused the fading blush to return full-force. "Um...Thank you, my lord..." She glanced away from the stallion, suddenly finding the wet grass very interesting. "They are my grandmothers' eyes....everyone told me how beautiful she was...I could never live up to expectations like that." Her silvery wings flicked away the water droplet clinging to the feathers. "And, if it is permitted, may I.....may I ask you for your name? Since you wish to speak at an equal level, your Majesty?"
She smiled then, turning back to look into deep violet eyes. "I am Nakia, I apologize for not mentioning it before."

He smiled with a regal expression both calm and alert as the great prince stood there gazing into her sweet eyes. Youth was indeed a flower waiting to become full to the world, showing its grace and potential when it finally reached adulthood as a perfect bloom that nestled itself among the thorns.
"Water is precious, "he responded toward her question, "Most of us have evolved with great wings and horns upon our foreheads able to seek and find water. It is our life source among the barren sands we dwell within." He raised his head, the gold jingling as his form shifted weight to the opposite side of his body, "To survive... that is our never ending goal in the great turn of life." Perhaps it was memories or simply idle chatter about his homeland, but in all he pondered why he had left for a time to arrive in this place. Leaving behind all he knew to explore a new region and experience something more.
He paused for a moment, perhaps an eternity in that thought that poured over him like the great Nile. Only after he blinked a few times did the stallion come to conscience and realize where he was. He cleared his throat hearing his name be spoken, which in respect of her wishes he granted in return, "I am known as Pharaoh Atemu of the shifting sands little one. Here you may address me as Atem or Atemu if you like. I do not want to be royalty in this land of strangers."
The prince paused as his violet eyes gazed somberly within the filly's own soft orbs, "Nakia... your name is fitting of you. Your parents must be very proud to have one as lovely and fair as you." He nodded to her as his long tail tipped like a tawny lion swayed back and forth as the golden accents rung softly in the motion.

Nakia gaped in awe of the regal stallions' tale. She had never heard of such a race of beings...were they as amazing as the one standing beside her now? An over-whelming desire to see Atemu's homeland and his people started to crawl it's way into her heart.
Giggling a bit when he spaced out, Nakia took this small opportunity to admire how the light glimmered off of the gold bangles draped around his figure; it seemed to cast a holy aura around this god on earth. Ears perked at his statement, Nakia looked away for a bit before turning back towards the pendant around his neck. She stared at her own reflection with a half-smile, a smile with no emotion behind it. "You make me sound like I am equal to some of the others I have seen...No, my brothers are the ones who recieved the beauty in our familly. Im just....." She looked for a word of description. "Me, nothing more nothing less. A simple Soquili trying to find a path in life to follow."
