Allies and Enemies

Allies
Though he is still weary of her Misty seems to be desh's first ally. How long this understanding will last no body knows, she is as stubborn as him.
Rain- A deliciously dark pundu that Deshwitat met through Mame. He enjoys this artistic company, though he would never admit it.
Pundus Desh knows of
Selisia was an interesting being. She first growled at desh which started conflict with her in the flist place. She doesn't seem to be much of a threat though she is certainly older than Desh. He is not fond of her... But he will tollerate her for now.

Daycare Days

Mameoyashi was once again in the daycare watching little Deshwitat sleep with his little princess doll. He rarely seemed to awake during the day. Although Mame knew most babies had such a sleep shedual he seemed to hate being awake during the day, he always stayed away from the windows or anything that had sunlight touching it.
She wondered why he acted so strangely.... Often she knew there was soemthing odd about him, but all she could do was accept it. what she was most sad about though was the fact that this little Pundu didn't seem to have parents. From what Mame knew he was found in a bush near the lake. No Pundu had claimed him as their child, and indeed he did not feel to be a normal child. She pitied the little thing... but he did not seem to notice anything wrong.

Troubled Waters, Friendship Blooms?

Mameoyashi sighed a little bit. "Why are you so different Desh?" She mumbled, mostly to herself. She was glad though that Desh had woken up while others were still awake. Mame had resolved to have Deshwitat play with the other babies and so she would.
"Desh, Deshwitat."

Desh's were twicthed a little bit, but he didn't even seem to notice the voice.

Mameoyashi however knew she could be heard. "Listen Deshwitat you have to go play with the other children now. It's not healthy for you to sit here all alone playing with your little doll. Look over there, hm? They're drawing pretty pictures on the chalk boards, doesn't that look like fun?"

Desh tilted his head slowly to the side. Hmm..... those chalk baords look like fun. Slowly he started to crawl over to one of the other baby pundus that had a chalkboard, in a shadey part of the daycare.

Mame was relieved to see that Desh was finally listening to her. He was going to play with the other children and she could relax a bit. How much trouble could he get into now really.

When Desh got over to the Pundu with the chalk board he took a second to see what it was drawing. A nice sunny day with a flower and a tree..... Desh wrinkled his nose, sunshine.... He snatched the chalk board out of the baby's hands and grabbed a mixture of chalk, slowly dragging all the materials back to his dark spot of the playroom.
The other baby started crying and making a big fuss, but Desh ignored it. He quickly erased the sun and flower with his paw and began to doole things himself on the board. A large scribbly building on what looked to be a cliffside. At night. Deshwitat smiled to himself. He was glad he thought of playing with the chalk.

Mame started freaking out at what Desh had done. She looked to the poor crying pundu who was certainly making a fuss before rushing to Desh's side and started to scold him. "Desh that wasn't very nice you aren't supposed to do that kind of thing. look at what you did! How would you like it if someone came and took your princess away?"

Deshwitat looked to the princess a moment, a sudden thought striking him, what happened if someone took her away? He growled softly and grabbed a red piece of chalk and began scribbling on the chalk board.

Misty wailed a little longer, clutching at her odd ponytail and screaming her lungs off. Humongous tears errupted from her eyes as Rei watched, completely bewildered.

"What did he do that for?!" She asked nobody in particular. "It's okay Misty, you can use some other chalk."

Her little babe began to whimper instead, and stared angrilly at the Pundu that had stollen her chalk. She didn't want new chalk, she wanted her own chalk. It wasn't faire that he got to take her chalk. It wasn't nice. She wanted it back.

Rei noticed the look in her eyes. Pure anger, pure malevolence. She watched as Misty crawled her way over to the other baby, and angrilly snatched her board back, scattering the chalk in all directions.

"Misty!" Rei cried. "Don't be so rude! Returning such rude behavior will help nobody! I'm sorry," she added to the other Pundus Watcher. "She's a bit... possessive."

But Desh was not about to give up the chalkboard that easily. It was his and he was not giving it up. He held on tight to the board and bared his teeth at her, even his unusually long front fangs and growled softly.

Mame sighed and looked over to Misty's Watcher helplessly. "I know what you mean. Desh is....stubborn." She turned back to Deshwitat "Desh, now stop that. It's only natural for her to try and take it back you took it from her after all."

Pure fire was alight in his eyes but now also a hint of fun. This little one had the guts to try to take the board back. There was sport in that... A grin moved onto the young one's face as he tried to yank the board out of Misty's paws.

"There is just no getting through to that one. It's like he doesn't even hear me..."

"Yes, well, she's the same. She honest to God won't give up on anything."

Misty saw his teeth, heard his growel, and upped the bet. She, too, bared her teeth as far as they could go, and let out a little growel, tugging harder on the chalkboard. It's little wooden bits began to squeek.

"Oh my, well, it looks like they're going to break it." Rei rolled her eyes. That's what they would get for not learning to share. Misty stepped on some chalk
peices, breaking them into tiny shards.

"You're right they are going to break it. I hope this teaches you Desh!" Mame said as she was not pleased in the slightest.

Desh's ear twitched again to the sound of Mame's voice.
As Misty stepped on the chalk pieces so did Desh let the board go. His grin faded as his face grew as stern as a baby's could. Without even seeing the result, would she fall or would she keep her balance? Deshwitat turned away and grabbed his doll.
He sat with his back to the girl just staring in the other direction. He gave a small grunt but nothing else.

Mameoyashi sighed softly. "Thanks Desh....." She turned to the other Watcher. "So sorry about that...'

Misty let out a yelp and toppled backwards, but fate deemed that she would get hurt that day. She rolled over backwards and popped right back onto her feet, dizzy and confused. Rei laughed allowed, though seconds before she had been severely scared at what the young male Pundu had done.

"Oh my!" Rei yelped. "Are you alright Misty?"

The baby wobbled a bit, but then regained her composure. Made angry by the other Pundus rude manouver, she toddled her way up to him and dropped the chalkboard on his head. The poor board toppled to the ground, crushing the last few peices of chalk.

"Misty! Stop it!" Rei scolded her baby. Misty pouted and rolled back on her bum, sticking her tongue out at the other Pundu. "Oi... sorry... Again! She's not had much interraction with other Pundus yet, so she's not very polite."

"Oh don't worry." Mame began apologetically. "Really it was Desh that started---"

Desh turned around, no longer the air of playful agression fun about him. He seemed to practically shake with rage she helooked at the pundu now sitting on her bum.

"Oh no.... this is not going to end well..."
Mame moved infront of desh, between him and the other little one. Her essence confronted Deshwitat head on for one. "Don't you dare!" She warned. "You started it of course you are going to get this kind of reaction. You leave her alone Deshwitat! I mean it now you have ignored me long enough! And right now enough is enough do you understand me!?"

Deshwitat seemed for the first time to even recognise Mameoyashi was there. He looked up at her with somewhat shocked eyes but then narrowed defiantly. he did not however move towards the other baby. He sensed the energy of the being between them. he was not yet powerful enough to....
He picked up a shard of the chalk board and flicked it at the other pundu, falling short and only landing by her foot. He shot her a most dangerous look before lumbering away to sit with his doll.

Mameoyashi let out a slow breath. "I'm sorry...." She turned to the other Watcher. "He's....Well..." She couldn't even think of how to finish her sentance and just looked off after him. "Sorry."

"Don't worry," Rei answered. "I can tell that he's... well, different. And Misty was being a bad girl." Rei narrowed her eyes at the little girl and Misty lowered her gaze sadly. She knew that she had done something wrong.

Thoughts ran through Misty's head. It was her board, she had even drawn a flower on it. And he was a meany. But he looked very angry after the whack on the head, and Misty didn't like to make people too angry. So she rolled forward, doing a little summersault, and grabbed the board again. Seeing that her chalk set was ruined, she went to find more.

Re-creating the weird building was hard, it ended up looking more like a box. But Misty did it, making it as dark and spooky as she could. Then she stuck it in her mouth and crawled back over to Desh, though she didn't know his name at the time, and sat looking at him for a bit. He wasn't doing much, and really liked his doll. She thought that was weird. After a while of studying him, she crawled right up to his side, for she couldn't walk yet, and plopped her horrible rendition of his old home in his lap.

Baby's minds are fickle things.

Desh sat looking at the chalkboard in his lap. What was that thing on it? The toy box? The daycare? He studied it for awhile and finally realised she tried to redo his drawing. He looked up from the drawing to her just staring at her for a time with no expression.
He set the board down and got up to crawl away. Only in a little awhile did he come back, with the more brightly coloured chalk. He sat back down and snatched the board again. He used all the bright pretty colours he could, though with the expression he had one could tell he didn't like to. In the end he sat the board back infront of the girl Pundu. it was her drawing of his home, but with lots of tiny little flowers sprouting up places.

Mame smiled a bit. "Compromise...good job Desh..."

Not Again....

Desh and Misty had encountered another Pundu named Selsia. Desh was still uncomfortable and untrusting of other Pundus. He left the small group and went to sit by himself. Misty urged him to return, when he did not....

Misty crawled over to Desh and held Horsea to his face. She looked over her shoulder and waited for Selisia to follow her.

Selisia trotted after Misty happily.

He looked passed Horsea and snorted. She thought he was that dumb? He shot her a fiery look and moved away again begrudgingly.

Misty began to feel sad, wondering why her friend was mad. She looked at horsea, wondering if it had done something. Being as stubborn as she was, she crawled after Desh.

Desh growled at her as she was approching, obviously wanting just to be left alone then. Just because he liked being around Misty doesn't mean he liked any other of the pundus. he was startingto wonder why he was even becomnig friends with this little girl. It was obvious she thought down upon him. just like everyone else. Using that stupid little blue thing as a distraction, thinking he wouldn't notice? he was insulted and a Rudbich would not be so mocked.

Misty was startled. She was just trying to be nice, sharing her pet. Trying to get more friends for Desh. She liked him. And he was mad now. Her very first friend. She sighed and slumped back on her little bum, making Horsea go back in it's ball.
Misty's eyes swelled up with tears but she didn't make a noise.

Mame tlted her head to Dark a little bit but then turnedto Desh. "Now listen here little one! That's not nice Misty is trying to be your friend and what are you doing to her?" She was very cross at the little Pundu...

But he started to seem oblivious to Mame once more. His ear twitched when she spoke but he just sat there not looking very happy and almost oblivious to Misty and her pouting. He would not be looked down upon, she started it and if she was hurt that was her own fault now isn't it?

Misty didn't know what she had done to make Desh so angry. But if he was going to be mean, so would she. Trying with all of her might she stood on her hind legs and roared a baby roar at him, then stomped off. If he couldn't understand that she was trying to be nice, then she'd be mean.
A ways off Misty sat down and let Horsea out, playing a peekaboo game with it.

Selisia ran over to mist and sat down next to her, smiling.

Misty looked up at Selisia, still a bit sad, but happy that somebody still liked her. She showed her how to play the peekaboo game with Horsea. She'd cover her face with her paws, and spontaniousely remove them. That's when Horsea would try to squirt her.

Desh for a long time just sat where he was. Mame had given up on trying to reason with him and didn't seem to be bothering him at all. He stared at his little doll and finally got up. He saw some chalk and a board nearby so he crawled over to it. he grabbed the colourful chalk again and to the best of his ability he drew a picture of Misty and her Horsea. He stood up on his feet slowly...wobbled and fell back down. He growled at himself and once again stood up on two legs and wobbled..but didn't fall. The board in his hand andthe princess in hte other he hobbled over to misty and set the drawing down beside her. He looked at Selisia but had nothing to do with that pundu.
Without even waiting for her responce, he wobbled away and sat down again.

Misty was surprised when the chalkboard fell into her lap, not expecting Desh to come over. She looked at the picture and was able to smile again. She left horsea with Selisia, so that they could play, and went to get the chalk. As best as she could, she drew a Desh next to the Misty and even added a little doll. Then she stumbled over to Desh and gave it to him.
Not sure if Desh had wanted her to do that, she went back to her Horsea and sat down. Horsea had a great time, trying to peg both Selisia and Misty whenever they let their guard down.

Desh looked at the little chalk drawing and smiled a little. He kept the picture close to him a moment before setting it down and stumbling over to the other two. He sat still a little ways away from them but close as he was getting right then. He watched Horsea squirting at them and grinned a little bit.

SPOILER

Growing Insane....

The passed few days had been absolutely horrible for Deshwitat. It all started with Deshwitat being caught napping in the sunlight. he woke up his eyes blazing. It burned! Deshwitat let out a cry and retreated and was releaved by the shadows but still felt the burn. It was bad enough he was actually shaking from it huddled in a corner.
Seeing something wrong Frankie came to Desh's aide and brought him into a back room to check him out. It appeared as if the sun had irritated his skin. It wasn't quite a burn but it was a heavy rash that spread through his body where the sun had touched.

Mameoyashi was so concerned she could not figure why it would happen like that. Concerned she tried to get answers on her own. Leaving Desh in the confident care of Frankie for the time being, she left to research the problem on her own. What she eventually found astounded her....

At the same time Deshwitat was having flashes. Visions of things that didn't make full sense. He was back with his parents in his castle....

[[In the rebirth world]]

Time seemed to accelerate as he experienced everything. His loving parents Carlos and Elysee, a vampire and a human, raising him from chidlhood. As though the robed figure had never thrown Desh into the vortex he saw it all.
Soon he was a child, still young, but none the less grown. He stood outside the door as his parens were talking within.
They were talking quite excitedly. Something was going on. Villagers were outside of the castle. Carlos had detected them long before they came from the forest to pound at their gate with a ram. They were suffering hard times and a nobleman by the name of Maybus had convinced the townspeople it was the vampire's fault. The vampire Rudbich and his human whore!
They spoke of vampires.... Deshwitat did not understand. Slowly he pushed open the door to the room. A smile was on his pale face, his red eyes bright with curiosity.
"Mother, what is a vampire?" He asked.

Suddenly time skipped forward.

The villagers had broken into the castle. His father was fending them off, they were loosing their nerve. In the meantime however a small group of men had broken in secretly. Desh was confused as he stood atop the stairs, knife at his and his mother's throat. His father being ordered to stand down.
A young boy, about Desh's age stood amongst the men. His shoulder length blond hair and bleu eyes stuck out in Desh's mind.

Soon Deshwitat found himself ontop of a cliff, his father tied to a staek in the ground, his mother in ropes beside him. The men were all cursing them shouting at them, looking down upon the filth they were.
This was Deshwitat's rude awakening of what vampires were. Spawns of demons, cursed creatures.... The life he knew was shattered.

Sun was about to rise, the men cut Elysee's throat right infront of Carlos and Desh. They jeered about how all that precious blood was going to waste... and a shame that Carlos could not lap up the blood of his beloved, after all what was a higher honour?

that boy was there, that blond haired boy from before. Standing beside the ring leader of the mob, beside the Lord Maybus. Carlos spoke softly to the boy. Told him he must push Desh...off the cliff. It must be done, Carlos spoke of it as his dying wish. The boy hesitated but just as the sun rose pushed deshwitat off the cliff, and into the trees below.
When Deshwitat awoke he was safely in the shade of the trees. Disoriented he stood and tried to get his barings. Unwittingly he stepped into the sunlight, his flesh burned. He noticed and ran to a small cave nearby and hid from the sun.
The boy was suddenly at the front of the cave. Deshwitat at first tried to attack the boy for everything that happened. But soon it was learned this boy, Kalutika Maybus, had infact saved Deshwitat. Promising to return to help more that night Deshwitat was left alone.

More time passed so quickly Desh could not keep track.

The boy was outside the cave, telling Deshwitat to come out. Desh began to leave the cave and move towards the clearing were Kal stood, when he saw somethingin the trees. More of Maybus' men... he had been betrayed!
Deshwitat ran cursing Kalutika Maybus for his treatery. he would never again trust a human...

More of his life flashed quickly, Desh's head was spinning from pain.

He was caged... a group of traveling entertainers had captured him and put him on display. Cold and alone he lay curled on one side of the cage.
The only one to ever take pity on him was a little girl.... Lilith. He gave him a little princess doll. She was being called, and were she caught so close to the cage she would be in grave trouble, so she left promised to return next year when the group came back.
Desh curled up with the doll....and murmured the name 'Lilith...."

[[In the Pundus world]]

Deshwitat sat up in a sweat holding the princess doll. For a time he was disoriented and confused, but soon he remembered where he was. He was in a private room of the daycare, reserved for the sick Pundus so they do not spread it to the other babies.
But Desh... was no longer as he was. He flexed a hand infront of his face and stretched out his legs. Indeed he was bigger, stronger. The thigns he learned in his fevered sleep had also made him wiser yet...colder.

Mameoyashi was by his side. She had known all of what he did. She watched it from a thrid person perspective.
She saw Kalituka's father threaten Kal's sister danube if he did not reveal the position of the child vampire. She watched as Desh's father Carlos bravely faced daylight, only murmuring his love's name once. She watched everything. She knew....
She only wish she could take this poor creature into her arms and hold him, comfort him.

But it seems both of them were at a loss....

The entirety of the Pundus village gathered upon the beach, on a cool night, with giant campfires to warm them. Watchers and Pundus alike encircled these flames.
It had been days since the Angelic and Demonic baby Pundus had appeard on the Pundus Island, and watchers had gathered from all over to compete to win the honor of raising one. Now they only waited for Anathia to announce the contest.

"My family!" An old voice cried over the murmering croud. "Please, we shall start the event!"

The croud became quiet and listened to Anathia explain the competition. "Tonight will be a storytelling night! We will hear a story from each of you prospective Watchers, and from them decide who will watch over the two new arrivals.

The story will be about the baby that they wish to watch over. It will be told from the view of the Watcher as it observes its Pundu living through its teenage years.

What is it most afraid of? What does it love the most? What does it hate the most? What is its favorite hobby? What profession is it working towards? Set the story in whatever part of town you'd like, at whatever time of day or night you would like. These are the things we wish to hear about."

---------------------------------------------

Hours passed and the pundus island was then enthraweled by four watchers, all speaking of the demonic boy and angelic girl that needed a home. Their stories were all touching, and all showed great potential for watcher material. However, in the end Anathia had to choose two. A watcher named Dixie would take care of the angelic girl. And a watcher named Echo would be taking care of the demonic boy.

"I now introduce Felicity and Yaotzin, the two new members of our tribe!" Anathia announced, with the two watchers and their odd pundus at her side.

And thus the introduction of Yaotzin and Felicity began. All of the pundus and their watchers made their way to the beach, and took part in the festivities. Anathia wandered the croud speaking with watchers, petential watchers, and pundus, Handing out gifts to commemorate the event.

Dippy watched the festivities with a slightly distracted interest. Holding her feet and rocking on her heels, she put off the slightly daft expression that was typical to her.

She wondered what was going on, and so had actualy showed up when ordered.

"Hmm?" she asked, brushing her hair out of her eyes absentmindedly.

Deshwitat, through out the entire proceedings stayed off to the far end of the crowd. His arms had been crossed as he listened to the events whiles straing off to the ocean. He didn't seem interested at all in the festivities. But he understood and took in all that was going on.

Mameoyashi on the other hand had been paying close attention and showing it. She seemed a little vnervouse about the demonic pundu but thought the little angel was so cute and sweet. "This will be some change..."

Deshwitat glanced over at the pundus and scoffed. "It'll be just like normal in a day or two." He murmured. "This is pointless."

Radien watched the event from afar. The sea sented breeze blowing in his face. He looked at the small demon pundua and gave an innocent, yet devilish smile. He was happy hat he had found a home among the others. He took a seat on thr ground, far from sight of the others. He should not have left the demonic caves, but he did anyways.

Selisia peered over to Desh and smiled, trotting over to him.

The ceremonies finished, Echo made her way to the demonic pundu. His name? Did anyone give her a name? What would she call him?

The baby looked up at the Watcher and unceremoniously burped.

Taken aback, Echo frowned. Somehow, she knew his name, and she did NOT approve... but it was his name, "Good to meet you too, Yaotzin!"

What's on your mind" She stared at him, knowing something was up.

Deshwitat blinked a few times looking at the girl. She... really didn't get it, did she? "Nothing." He said shortly and raised an eyebrow to her.

"Deshwitat..." Mameoyashi frowned.

"What about you?" He added.

Misty wandered the crowds carrying horsea in her arms. She looked for Desh, who'd miraculousely come out of one of the huts. Probably because it was later in the afternoon, and the sunlight was partially blocked by the Pundus mountain.

Selisia huffed, "I know you have something on your mind" She muttered, "BUt anyways, I'm good, now...where'd Dark go...."

Misty spotted him (Desh) chatting it up with one of the other pundus. Selisia, she thought, she wasn't quite sure of everybody's names. Becomming a bit jealous, Misty skipped over to the group.

"Hi Desh!" she popped up next to him and smiled. "Fancy meeting you outside."

It was lucky for Selsia that Misty had shown up. He honestly hadn't enjoyed the girl thinking she knew him. He was going to growl, or snap or just give her a few choice cold words... one of which happened to have cooties in it...

But Misty had come and interupted. Grudgingly he turned to the girl. He hadn't see nher in sometime. He gave a small smirk. "And how is my favourite person in the world...Horsea. It's been awhile." He scratched the little creature's belly and gave a slight chuckle glancing only briefly at Misty's reaction.

Selisia shrugged and plotted off, leaving the two alone, She walked to the edge of the water, staring into it.

Misty was instantly offended. She hadn't seen Desh in a while and he could barely say hello? Instead, he had said hello to Horsea? He'd never've met Horsea if it hadn't been for her. A rush of heat filled her face, until she realized that Desh was just being Desh. She'd never get used to his odd behavior. Making herself calm down, Misty rolled her eyes. "Nice to see you too Desh."

Horse squeeled gleefully and squirted some water about, repeated saying its name. Misty wondered if it knew how to say anything other than its name...

Deshwitat lost his smirk, but wasn't unhappy. He just found it too much effort to keep a smile on for too long. Besides it really didn't matter much... He shook a bit of water from the stray squirt that hit his gloved hand.

"I'm outside a lot for your information Misty." He shrugged a little bit. "Just not at the same times. Ever since... The incedent awhile ago."

"Yeah, what the heck happened anyway?" Misty asked. She didn't like to pry into other people's business, and neither did Rei, so she didn't know much about what had happened to Desh. "And I know, but still, it'd be cool to not have to stay up late to play with you. Mr. 'I like to wander around in the dark' pundu."

Rei rolled her eyes at the two, and looked over at Mame. "How are you?" she asked. "What does he do out there at night anyway? It can't be too fun for you to have to go out with him at night."

"I'm allergic to the sun." He said quite plainly looking at her. "Developped a little before that one day, apparently. Never liked the thing anyway..." He scoffed a little bit and crossed his arms.

Mame smiled at Rei. "I'm fine, but really it's sort of interesting. I mean he keep shimself busy, wandering and exploring. You know.... I don't know what I can do about schooling though. It's open during the day, but he can't go out." She frowned worriedly at the still rather small Pundu. "I just don't know what to do with him." She shook her head and smiled. "But hey..how have you Misty and Horsea been doing?"

"We've been okay." Rei answered, eyeing the obviousely shocked Misty. Even Rei had never heard of a Pundu that was allergic to the sun. "You know, Roald would probably let you into the school at night. He's really only there to prevent kids from doing dangerous things in masses. But if you can keep track of Desh on your own you Roald will probably keep the school open for you. It's tough trying to teach Misty everything. I mean, if it weren't for the books and Roald I wouldn't know what to teach her. She wants to become a scientist... And my weakest point is science!"

"Alergic?" Misty hadn't considered that Desh could be alergic to sunlight. That would explain why he had stayed away from it when they were babies. "Then... Hmmm... Well, I'm not alergic to the night! I can come and play outside maybe before I got to bed!" she became excited at that thought and smiled largely at Rei. "Can I? Can I?!"

It was nice to see Misty excited. She hadn't really made any other friends either, so Rei knew that Misty needed to get to hang out with Desh. "Well," she shrugged, "The later you stay up, the later you have to sleep in Miss Misty."

That was one of those times when Rei wished she could tussle Misty's hair. She missed her old body.

Both Deshwitat and Mameoyashi were distracted by the encounter with Raiden. Mameoyashi had been more worried and scared, but Deshwitat had kept cool eyes on the demonic leader. He felt right somehow. Desh being a normal pundu, never truly fit in with the normal pundus. And he heard something about caves... should he live in caves maybe he could be around more pundus. He snorted at the thought. Who needed to be around more pundus anyway?
Glad the sun was finally down enough for fire to be lit Desh relaxed quite a bit. In the confusion of activity he slipped away from Misty and actually sit near one of the fires watching the others. He would have just left but that nagging feeling told him to stay.
He crossed his arms and decided to focus on that baby demon. "Perhaps you will be more like me." He muttered to himself.

Echo was at a loss for what to do. Her charge was still a baby, an infant really in that he could not move on his own yet (or so she thought). Experimenting, the Watcher tried to, unsuccessfully, tweek the baby's nose. With a sigh, she resorted to just watching him again.

Yaotzin felt eyes on him and turned his head to the other pundu. His clear eyes took in the figure.

His Watcher followed his gaze and smiled. "That's Deshwitat... I believe that is his name..."

Deshwitat gave a grin to the little one, his abnormally long teeth being quite visible. He was intelligent too....

Mameoyashi strolled her way over towards the baby but one of the adult pundu at the festivities..watlked right throguh her. She gave a small shiver and kept going. "I hate it when that happens..." She mumbled to herself. She beconed Deshwitat over before looking to the other new watcher. "Hello there." She said brightly.

Deshwitat had no intension of going over there but.... Maybe he could take a little closer look. HE stood up and moved over to the pundu.

Yaotzin grinned back at the pundu. Only one of his sharp canines was apparant by the little speck of white peeking out from his gums. His molars were mostly out, too, but were so far back they could not be seen.

Echo turned when she saw Mameoyashi's approach and nodded in welcome. She hadn't had anyone walk through her yet, so wasn't sure what is felt like. "Hello again!"

The baby pundu watched Desh approach, his sharp eyes attentively on the pundu.

Mameoyashi smiles. "You seem to be getting along well enough?" She hoped anyway. Being a new watcher was always lightly nerve wracking. Or at least she had been.

Deshwitat stared down at the demon his grin fading to nothingness. His emotionless stare bore into the little cub. He bent down and poked it.

Echo smiled, "Hehe... thanks! I know it will be hard, but should be fun, no?"

Yaotzin skirmed under the poke, although he returned the stare nonetheless. Trying to mimic what Desh did, the baby tried to poke back, although he didn't have the length that the older pundu had.

Mameoyashi nodded. "Yeah it is most of the time I think."

Deshwitat chuckled to himself. "Quick learner..." He mumbled and moved his arm close enough for the baby to poke it.

Mame glanced nervously at Desh. Maybe... it wasn't such a good idea to have the pundu learn from Desh, we're trying to integrate him into pundu society...

Chuckling, the new Watcher smirked, "I bet!"

Lucking for Desh he had covering on his arm. Yaotzin poked the other pundu, but unaware of his unnaturally sharp, long claws, made a slight hole in the other's clothing. He grumbled, trying to form words in mimic of Desh, but failed. Regardless, it was the first sound he made.

Echo squealed when she head Yaotzin, "OMG! His first word, erm, sound! Did you hear him? He said 'grrrmmmp'!"

She laughed softly. "He is quite the cutie. It took a long time for Desh to make any sound...besides growling."

Deshwitat looked at the hole in his sleeve. He raised an eyebrow and glanced down to the claws on the pundu. "You will be an interesting one... won't you?" He ruffled the pundus fur.

Echo smiled proudly, "He is cute, I'll give him that!"

While Yaotzin didn't understand some things, he did understand 'cute' and knew he didn't want any part of that. He also misinterpreted Desh's fur ruffle as associated with the word 'cute' and ended up glaring at the Watchers then over at the pundu. All Yaotzin managed was a sharp, angry "Eep!"

Deshwitat growled slightly at the little one. Not as much as he growled at others when he was the cub's age, but enough to let the little one know not to try to threaten him... or his watcher.

Mameoyashi laughed a bit at the silly little thing then shot a glare at Desh. "Don't growl at him!"

Desh shot Mame a look. He wasn't letting this little one think he can get away with that sort of thing. He needed to know respect for Desh and his watcher.

Echo just stared at the baby and Desh, hoping no blood would be spilled over this. She was about to say something but decided against it.

Yaotzin would not be intimidated. Even though he understood the threat, and noted it, he didn't want to stand down too much. It would go against his demonicness, wouldn't it? He still glared slightly at Desh, but had decided not to make anymore sounds, for now at least...

Desh kept a little growl and glare for a short time.

Mameoyashi was starting to really worry. She was going to say something but Deshwitat started to laugh. She blinked a little bit, thankful but confused.

Deshwitat looked to the watchers. "He has spirit, I'll give the young one that." He grinned down at the little one. "You will be an interesting one to watch..." He sat down before the little one and grinned.

Mame laughed a little bit. "Crisis averted?"

It had been a great time since either Deshwitat or Mameoyashi had been seen on the island. The duo were already scarce because of Deshwitat's odd allergy to the sun but this was more than that. The school had been opened at night, expecting the pundu and watcher to grace the halls. But the paw never set foot in the school, no one claw tapped the steps.

In town there was no one that was sheltering them, there was no place for them to go. Where could they have gone wit hall the hastle around the volcano. Neither were there to see the demonic or angelic pundus coming to join the regular citizines, though soon they became aware of it. Deshwitat felt the strange forces generating from the mountainside. He knew something stirred and he would not rest.

The caves and mountains, were no longer safe, but safe was a luxury Deshwitat could live without. Survival was the basest need, basest instinct. Safety was something beyond living, it was a creature comfort. He lead them up into the mountains moved from caves to mountain to forest. Never staying in one place. Gather strenght and survival stills... Deshwitat, though so young, has known tragedy, through his visions he knew how to survive. If he did it once, in such a place, he could surely do it again on this island.

He was disgusted at the merging of demonic angelic and common folk. He knew it would only lead to trouble. "Put the devils and angels in one place." He once muttered under his breath as he looked down on the town. "And the mortals are left to suffer."

His eyes a flame he set a glare back to Mameoyashi. "This must end. These fools do not realise how strong prejudices can be. Demons cannot walk among them without apprehension. If I must do it myself... I shall put a stop to this blasphimous behaviour."

He then turned into a cave and Mameoyashi watched him as the darkness envelopped him.

She looked up to the top of the mountains, to the volcano. She remembered well the day that creature came from the depths. Ages ago she remembered the humans had fought hard for their very survival, with little help from the pundu people. Mameoyashi was not bitter for the loss however. Though she had pleaded with some of the pundus to come from their hiding, to help the humans and fight this monster they had refused. They had been afraid, terrified of what this monster would do. It was the humans, barbaric and foolish that would confront it to their own demise. Their sacrifice had made the island safe, and that was all Mameoyashi had wanted to do. But now the creature was back. The seal that the last warriors had placed on the creature had faded and as Mameoyashi had predicted the creature had returned.

She watched the darkness where Deshwitat had travels and feared what the little one would do. He had not yet grown or developed into the power he possessed. He could not yet face this being, as he so intends. His spirit was strong, but even with training Mameoyashi doubted he could face the monster alone. She would have to convince him.... have him return to the village and seek their help. But for now they would train. They would share and grow and Mameoyashi would teach the little pundu everything she knew. Together they would walk in the darkness....

I do not belong

Deshwitat Had been on the beach for some time. He wasn't out for a nightly stroll of calm his mind or just to watch the waves. He was training.

Mameoyashi had him out in the water. She floated under the surface with him for some time, her arms crossed her face set in an unusual sterness that didn't befit the watcher normally. She was not just a gaurdian friend to this little Pundu anymore. No. She was a teacher.

Deshwitat swam in the satly waters, buidling up muscle especially in his legs. But he wasn't jsut out there to play around and swim in the water, he was hunting. Seeing how long he could hold his breath, improving upon that time. Building up endurance for the time to come.

He finally surfaced gasping for air as he had stayed under too long he looked like a half drowned rat, not in his normal clothes but just in a pair of black boxers he used as swimming trunks. She slowly crawled his way to the drier sand and collapsed panting.

Mameoyashi slowly emerged and stood besides the pundu child, her features unchanging. "Deshwitat you are improving but too slowly. Anyday that beast from the mountain could come down and swallow the village whole."

Deshwitat glared up at her from the corner of his eye. He was still breathing heavily. "Let it..huff... then... puff... They are no concern of mine!"

"Deshwitat Rudbich you know that is not true. Besides if they all ie what chance will you have?"

"It doesn't matter what chance I have. I don't need a chance, what's the point!? I do not belong here anyway...." He grunted as he stood to his feet.

Mameoyashi watched the pundu, knowing he was only a child but acting well beyond his years. He was forced to grow up so quickly, his visions had only served to take away his youth too soon. "If you did not belong here you woul not be here. Everything has it's place, you know that Desh."

"And I belong in hell..." He mumbled as she started walking to the group of rocks where he left his clothing.

"Deshwitat Rudbich! You know better than that. You are not of that world. You are not seen as a monster here."

"That is because they don't know me...." He plucked his jacket from the rocks and paused a moment feeling the lump that was the princess doll in his pocket.

"Deshwitat they don't know that other world being. The only thing you have in common with him is the sunlight thing."

"And I like the taste of blood and I look exactly like him, but with fur, you said yourself I'm nor ordinary, I can sense things, that monster. Something happened.... I'm having these visions for a reason I'm not supposed to be here!" He shrugged on his clothing and started back for the forest.

"There is a reason you are here Deshwitat. You are pundu. You do not need blood to survive you do not pray on the innocent or animals for your nutrition. You eat the bamboo and normal food with all the other pundu."

"And it tastes like ash in my mouth!" He glanced over his shoulder and growls. "I look pundu but I do not feel so."

She sighed heavily and followed her little Desh. "Maybe. But pundu or not this monster is a danger and I know you are not so callous to let Misty, Horsea and Yaotzin die by the claws of the beast. We will continue your training."

"And why must I do all this physical training then? It is not what you train me for." Deshwitat was actually glad for the subject change. He did not expect Mameoyashi to understand how he felt. Though her connection was closer to anyone he doesn't understand.

"To train the mind you must hone the body. You cannot rely on what I teach you until you can rely on yourself. The mind is nothing without the body as it's equal. I know you are intelligent for a pundu your age, but that is not everything. You will be fast, you will be strong."

"Just like my other self...." Deshwitat hissed under his breath, but Mame did not hear him.

Mameoyashi continued her explaination and lecture long into the night untill they found a place to rest for the day, a shaded secluded spot in the forest. After a small supper Deshwitat fell asleep all too soon.

Mameoyashi, who usually kept watch for the dangers had something of importance to take care of this morning. She would return shortly....

Two new enemies

Mameoyashi stood on the beach infront of Deshwitat. As usual for the passed month the air was thick between them. Deshwitat was glaring at Mameoyashi and she was giving him a cold stern look in return.

"I want to learn more now! You cannot keep the knowledge from me, Mame!" Deshwitat seemed soaked to the fur from his water training.

Mameoyashi sighed softly. "You aren't ready yet. You must learn contr-"

"You always say that! I have control! These exercises are pointless ,you keep me from my potential!"

"I keep you from nothing. If this isn't done right it could kill you... you must wait a little while longer Deshwitat."

It was late so neither of them suspected anyone being around.

A small Pundu stumbled out onto the beach and fell on her face.

She was tired, but determined to stay up.
She had a bet with someone else!

As she sat up and wiped the sand off her wet face, she saw the outline of another standing a short ways in front of her.

Deshwitat's ear twitched as the little one fell to the ground. He simply turned his head to her and raised an eyebrow slowly. He shot Mameoyashi a look, their argument wasn't over, but he would not continue infront of others.

Mameoyashi glanced over as well. "Oh poor dear, are you alright?"

Ciara looked up, into Mame's eyes.

"Yes." She said, clearly stubborn.

Just got up and dusted herself off, pretending to be just fine.

Then Ciara went to look for seashells as Que came after her, running.

"Ciara! Ciara." Que yelled out as she caught her breath."You gave me quite a scare back there. What are you doing?"

Deshwitat noted the little pundu was of demonic descent. He closed his eyes for half a moment reaching out his senses towards the little one. His concentration was broken however, when the watcher came around. His eyes snapped open, but only a frown graced his lips, no words.

"Hello there!" Mameoyashi smiled a little moving closer to the other watcher.

Que looked up to see Mameoyashi.

"Hello. Has she done anything...bad? Yet?" Que looked uncertain, watching Ciara pick up shells and throw them.

Ciara wondered around the other Pundu in a circle, watching his every more, his face particularly.
After she had inspected him, she looked over towards Que.
"Who are you?" She said to this Pundu, rather cruely, as if she were going to...

Deshwitat was tall for his age and the little demonic didn't scare him in the slightest. He snarled a brief moment baring his abnormally long fangs. He heard demonics were violent, he did not think mameoyashi would approve of him beating the little one before she could help defeat the beast. It was a warning not to try anything. "Deshwitat L. Rudbich, runt."

"Desh be nice..." Mame whispered to him before smiling to Que. "No nothing, I'm Mame by the way."

Que sighed. More of sadness than of relief.
"Wonderful. It doesn't look like she'll sleep until she has proven that she can stay up all night." Que said, obviously tired.

Ciara looked at Deshwitat.
"Do you have a shorter name? It's really long. May I call you Desh?"
She said, so kindly.

Before he could answer, she ran off into the wet sand, careful not to actually get wet.

Watching her go towards the water Desh crossed his arms. He stepped slowly forward to allow the watchers to talk without his disturbance. He would watch the little one for Que for the moment, but he was very grudging and should she do anything to attmept to threaten him....

Mameoyashi watched the two go and then smiled a little. "Well they are energetic at that age most of the time. Quite the handful..."

Que rolled her eyes.
"She put a bunch of leaves down on her bed, and when I came to check on her, there was nothing but footprints."

Ciara watched as Desh came closer.
She was full of energy. She was also happy.

She wanted to fly, fly, fly over the waves to the moon.

Instead, she landed in the waves.

Under the moon.
Crying
.

"Leaves? She isn't sleeping in the school with the rest of her kind?" Mameoyashi's eyebrow rose. She wasn't entirely surprised ehr and Deshwitat had been out of the village for some time but she was surrpised a demonic would abandon the safety of numbers now that angelics were floating around.

Deshwitat sighed and moved to the little one. He grabbs her furry paw and pulled her from the water. "Fool. If you don't want to get wet stay away from the waves."

Que sighed again.
"No, she insists on sleeping outside of the school. Mostly on the ground in front of the doors, but I find her other places too. She doesn't like to be with others much during the night, as she tends to kick."

Ciara felt herself being pulled from the water.
Spluttering, she realised that it was warmer in the water than on the beach, and crawled back in.

"Look at that!" She said, eyes wide open.
"Beautiful seashell!" She picked it up and tossed it to Desh.

"Look!"

As the shell was tossed at him he batted it away with the back of his paw. He shook his head, some sort of unstable pundu this was. Definately had the attention span of a gnat. He didn't like her much as it was. First she got wet and cried, then clawed back into the water.

"Well... I suppose it's a good idea not to kick other pundus while they're trying to sleep." She shook her head a little bit. "Deshwitat likes to be alone himself."

"Ah! So you understand? She just... Can't stand to be with others while they're sleeping. Confuses me..." Que said.

Ciara ran after the shell, finding it after a while and putting it into her hair.

She danced around a bit before inching slowly towards the beach's edge, slowly enough that no one noticed until she was gone.

No one...except Deshwitat who had his eyes on her the entire time perhaps? He sighed a little and moved over to the watchers. "Your little demonic ball of sunshine is gone" He said sunshine with the utmost hate.

Mameoyashi had been about to explain about Desh but then stopped. "Oh dear...."

Que had noticed.

"Ball of sunshine? I tale it you enjoyed watching her." QUe said sarcastically. "I must be off, who knows what she'll do! If you want I could use some help. Briliant thing has learned to erase footprints."

With that, Que walked into the forest, looking for her dear baby.

Deshwitat felt uncomfortable in the village. He didn't like all of the energy of other pundus. He was different, they didn't know, but they wpu;d if he were around. But Que needed help to find her pundus and Deshwitat could track her.

He grumbled the entire way.

Que followed behind Mame and Desh.
She wasn't sure, but she though Ciara may have been at the school.
Trouble was, Que forgot how to get there.

Ciara heard footsteps in the distance.
Not only Que's but Desh's and Mame's.
Getting up, she ran and hid in a tree to the side of the school.

Deshwitat sniffed the air slowly and turned back to the watchers. Giving mame a short look he turned back to the school yard.

Mameoyashi glanced to Que. "Let's leave them alone for a bit." She nodded back throguh the other buildings.

Deshwitat stepped forward. "Ciara, I know you're here. Why do you run from your watcher."

Ciara picked up an acorn, throwing it at another tree.
The acorn looked as if it had been knocked out of the tree, and she was safe for a moment.
"And you Desh? Why are you asking?" she cried out.
Yes, it was clear that she was in the trees, but which one?

Que turned and followed Mame, guessing that this would not turn out well.

Deshwitat moved to stand in the middle of the few trees littering the playground. He stood calmly, composed. He stood perfectly still, his breaathing level. As Mameoyashi had taught him, he was waiting, concentrating.

"I ask for you are the sorriest pundu I know. And that is saying a lot. You are random, impulsive and you hide and run from the one being in this world who will accept you, take care of you. Why."

"Who are you?" Ciara asked. " Why are you following me?"
She sniffled.

Ciara was dead tired, and realised this as she began to slip.
And fall.

Deshwitat was no hero. He saw the girl fall from a tree at his side. He did not turn to look or go try to save her from her fall. There was a lesson in this.

Ciara woke up just a bit.

The ground was flying!
Amazing!

No, she was flying!
"Look at me!!!! I'm flyiiiiinnnnng!"
A small thud was echoed as she hit the ground.

As she came to, Que ran out, rolling her eyes.

"What is that? Hmmm? The fourth time you've jumped out of that tree. And I thought you'd end up fighting again." Que said, frowning.

Deshwitat glared at the watcher wo ran forward. This was not what he wanted to happen. Soft, weak watcher... he scoffed and moved forward. Looking down at the pundu he wrinkled his nose.

"You do not fly." He said sternly. "You are not one of those foolish feather brains. You are a demon. A being touched by hell, you act as though you can fly when you have no wings. There are barriers you cannot cross and one is that of the sky. If you kept reaching for the sun it will burn you." He balled his paw into a fist as he turned his wrath to the watcher.

"And you! You are a fool. Irresponcible and weak! You are here as a guide a teacher to your pundu. Punish, praise and know your pundu. Do not stand idley by. No wonder she is so confused, no wonder she cannot follow a line for long. If you wish your pundu to be something you must aide her along the way. Or she will keep trying to fly, despite always falling. She will hurt herself, and only you will be to blame."

He breatehd a little heavily as she turned and skulked towards the shadows.

Mame was left there looking between the two and Desh. "I'm sorry..." She said softly to Que.

Que shrugged.
"Don't be sorry. True, I am loose with her, but that doesn't mean I am weak or irresponcible. She does what she wants for now, I won't put a leash on her creativity until she's grown. She has to learn when it is and isn't alright to experament."

Ciara got up, to follow Desh.

Once she caught up to him, she bit his leg.
Then ran.

"Oh no." Que sighed. "At least it isn't bleeding...yet..."
And with that, she ran off to wake Nuala, the only one Ciara would listen to.

Deshwitat growled when he felt hte fangs of the pundu on his leg. He whipped around to to find her already gone. He rushed forward sniffing the air glancing at the ground for tracks and looking around. His eyes aflame he stormed to the pundu's watcher.

"Keep her under control! Next I see that little one, if you have not by then, I will teach her respect!" He snarled and growled. "Creativity and experimentation are a far cry from that little rat!" He snapped his teeth at the watcher, though knowing he could not touch her. It was a warning of what would happen. "I will show her blood..." He was terribly dangerous as he turned and strode briskly away.

"Deshwitat!" Mameoyashi called after him. Her brow furrowed as she looked back to Que one last time. "I do not condone his violence, but he is right. We are here to guide the pundus to teach them what is right what is wrong and how to act. If you continue to let her act this way, jumping out of trees and biting other pundus... then when she is older she will think this appropriate behaviour for you would have not guided her otherwise." Her own tone was slightly stern and knowing but she sighed and it turned soft and kind once more. "I understand they are a handful, and you do not wish to limit her. But there are limits that everyone must follow. I don't want to see her hurt, by her own doing, or by provoking other pundus. Please heed our warnings...." She shook her head and followed Desh.

He would not get away with this outburst so easily.

"She's never done that before. Well, once, but I was sure I had made it clear she wasn't to do it again." Que said after she had brought Nuala out.

Nuala sighed.
Apparently, that Pundu was named Desh, great improvement!
Though, he had thought her pathetic, now he had met her friend, the true demon.

She first went to Desh, checking that Ciara hadn't actually hurt him.

"You're alright, right?" She asked, in her slightly scared tone.

Mameoyashi was off to lecture Deshwitat, but when the other pundu came she knew it had to wait. She melted back into the shadows for now watching.

Deshwitat growled he didn't let the girl get a good look at all of his leg. Simply shaking so his pantleg covered the wound. "What do you want?" He asked completely ignoring her question. He was never one to answer such questions anyway.

Nuala rolled her eyes.
"I told you, I wanted to see how bad it was. Since you can still walk, I'm assuming it wasn't as bad as the last time. Be thankful."

With this, she strode off, knowing that Ciara had either gone to thier small cave or to the beach.

Knowing her, it was probably the cave, as she had been to the beach.

Thankful? For an attack on his person? Deshwitat glared at the girl as she walked away. "Fools..." He muttered. "All fools."

He moved into the line of trees away from Nuala or to Ciara where he was headed he was in a foul mood for everything. Mameoyashi followed silentlyfor now, waiting until he stopped to rest. She would definately have a talk...
