xX AIM Roleplay between Inikasa'penzi[Nux] and Gabus[Ume] Xx

Brown toed paws padded lightly upon the grasses of the pridelands a bright smile upon his features as he continuously glanced back over his shoulder. Inikasa'penzi moved with his belly close to the ground playing a game of hide'n'seek with parents who probably didn't understand that he was playing a game and probably though he had run off somewhere dangerous. Although this had been a game his mother played often with her own parents she hadn't needed to worry. She had many siblings to keep them company.

Here Ini was an only child, which he rather enjoyed, making this game all the more fun for the young cub. A giggle escaped his maw as he wagged his tail sprouting up for a second to get a good view of his surrounding. He didn't want to get lost after all.

Gabus wasn't one for getting lost. He believed that fate guiding him, that every meeting was a marker on fate's path to his destination. Where that was, he wasn't quite sure. It was pleasant to sort of not quite know the way. Being lost was an adventure. Hebapa wasn't with him but that was ok. He knew they'd meet again eventually. They'd been together his whole life so he was sure fate wouldn't throw her down a path that didn't at least eventually rejoin his own.

As it was, he began to get the feeling he was no longer in wild lands. There seemed to be an order to the very air around him as though everything swayed in command of someone or something much different from the chaos that was the world. So perhaps it was only natural that he saw a little cub not too far away in the grass. He wondered if the cub had noticed him, much less what the cub was hunting. A smile on his face, he tried to work his way over, slinking as stealthfully as he could, wondering if the cub would notice him (after all, Gabus didn't need to depend on stealth to hunt which meant he was certainly no expert at it).

Ini's ears twitched with the sound of grass crunching beneath another's feet not his own. Blinking he halted and turned his head to the left, at first he saw nothing, furrowing his brow and frowning he turned his head to the right. Again there was nothing. Puzzled he jerked his head back in a 'what?' fashion before falling onto his butt.

"Hello?" He called his tone somewhat meek, he was slightly scared. Had his parents already found him? Shaking himself he puffed out his chest trying to appear brave. "Who's there?"

Gabus laughed silently and quickly thinking up an idea, deepened his voice. "Why do you not recognize the voice of a fallen star? I have lost my way from the sky." With his deepened voice, he hoped to sound awe-inspiring and even godly ...or how he imagined a god would sound. Maybe the cub would completely dismiss the idea and think something amuck and the game would be over. But he hoped that would not be the case. Because then this would be no fun. Gabus was a goof but he was also a bit of a mischief maker. It was always sad, though, when there wasn't mischief to make.

The deep voice startled the cub and he stumbled backwards. Fallen star? Was there such a thing? "Well I've never meet a fallen star before mister, so of course I wouldn't recognize the voice of one." He innocently stated regaining what little composure he had. "Why don'tcha fly back? Momma can teach you to fly mister star." He asked beginning to stalk through the grass trying to find this mysterious star. His mother's idea of flying wasn't what most would expect,it was being up in a tree letting the wind 'take her away' but Ini didn't know that. He thought she could really fly

Gabus raised a brow and slowly raised himself up out of the grass. "Why, young one, I've misplaced my wings leaving me rather grounded. To get some new ones, I must journey to a sacred spring blessed by kings. Only then can I return to the sky." He wondered if the cub had an answer to that too. Or if the cub would be so intrigued as to propose a journey. That would have amused Gabus although he certainly wouldn't be able to keep it up for long and wouldn't steal a cub from parents much less what felt like a pride. "Does your mother maybe have a pair of wings I can borrow?"

"How does one lose their wings?" He inquired thoughtfully tilting his head as he spoke. It seemed rather odd, weren't wings attached to the body? Like with birds? The 'star's' statement had him slightly baffled. "Well no, my momma doesn't have wings but she can fly." He replied pride filling his tone. "She says this nice lion taught her how to fly and when I'm bigger she'll teach me!" Enthusiasm decorated his tone as he practically bounced with excitement. "Why don't you ask to borrow a butterfly's wings?"

Gabus made a face. "Well um, you see, we stars had to shed our wings every day so that we can shine as bright as possible at night. And while I was shedding my wings, I misplaced my new wings and then I tripped over a cloud and fell out of the sky. So now I have to get newer ones down here." He shook his head at the cub. "I don't know if your mom's type of flying would work for me then since I have to go really high and you need wings for that. Sadly butterfly wings are too small and delicate for that." Darn this cub for being a little too practical and serious about it. But then again, not like he had chosen this cub for that. Just because he happened to be before Gabus. So hmmm maybe he'd change his story...

"Really? That doesn't seem very smart." Ini replied arching a brow even though no one was before him to see it. "Wait how do you miss place something that's on your back even if you shed every day?" Slowly the cub was putting two and two together. Not everyhing really seemed to match up to the young male. It seemed a bit too...well weird and not matching. "Oh...well how about a bird's wings then?"

Gabus huffed. "Well you see, we're bigger than birds but just so high up that when we glow we look tiny. And our wings don't grow in our backs like birds or insects. We grow ours in pots and they attach to us magically when after the old ones fall off. Of course, the wings grow in one day so we don't have to worry about running out of them ...well unless you forget to plant it. It's caused a torrent of shooting stars once when a bunch of the guys were participating in a ceremony and got so intranced they forgot to plant them. That was a sad day although I bet you mortals found it spectacular. I mean we're supposed to guide you guys for goodness sake. But yeah, that's why we're stars and not birds." Ug his brain was hurting from overuse and stretched logic.

Wrinkling his nose Ini pondered the other's explanation. It still seemed a bit silly to him. Really wings growing in pots? "Well I guess that makes sense but why don't you plant one here and wait until tomorrow to get back up to the sky?" He inquired the questions coming easily to the young mind. "If you're so high up how come you didn't die when you fell from the sky? Wouldn't it be a long drop?" More questions just spilled from his maw. It wasn't his fault there was so much to ask, to learn about.

He nodded slowly. "You know, I've never thought about it. I don't know why I'm still alive. Well I mean, I've lived thousands of years but am still considered young. I guess because I still have thousands of years left to live?" It was of course answered first to help himself come up with a reason for why he couldn't plant one here on land. But then he thought of one. And as far as he knew, it was a good one. "The seeds are up there, silly! ...Well hmm..... Concurous once told me a story about the first star. He found the seed to his first set of wings in lava. Do you have any volcanoes around here?" Yeah that worked nicely. Not necessarily accomplishable but still an idea.

Ini nodded having flopped to his belly given up on trying to find this star that was speaking to him. He had decided it was just nice to have someone interesting to talk to even if he couldn't see him. "Oh, maybe you're just lucky?" He replied before his voice died as he pondered another question. This one he tried to refrain from asking but it slipped through his maw anyway. "How does a star die?" It wasn't exactly the most polite question he could have asked but he did anyway. His ears perked up when he heard the star speak again. "Oh, well next time you should carry them with you in case this happens again." He replied with a firm nod. "I don't think so, but you could go up to pride rock and ask the council if there's one."

Gabus blinked and thought to himself about it. "Well... I'm not quite sure. No one's ever told me. I know that the really old ones get bad memory and forget about their wings sometimes so eventually they fall from the sky and never come back. But I've fallen and am alive so maybe they're still alive too." He paused for thought. "You know what? Maybe you guys are their descendents. Maybe they start looking like you guys from being down here too long. I wonder... do I look like you guys? Or do I look normal?" he stood up so that the cub could see him. Of course the cub wouldn't know what "normal" was for a star but maybe just an idea of what he thought they must look like. Either way, he was sure the reaction would give him something to work off of.

A frown formed upon upon his lips when he heard that the other didn't know how a star died. So much for that question. "Maybe they are and they just couldn't get back up to where ever you live." Ini proposed a smile sliding across his lips. "Maybe I'll meet one of them." That sounded like it'd be fun. With the other's next words he sprung up onto his paws excitement showing itself upon his features. When he saw the supposed star his excitement faded and confusion. "Wait, you can't be a star you're a feline!"

Gabus gasped as though surprised. "I'm a feline? What's that? I hope that's not bad," he exclaimed making sure to look incredibly distressed by the idea since the cub wasn't too happy by that notion. "Oh it must be bad. I'm not going to die from it, am I? I never even got to make constellation!" He made sure to moan dramatically and dance from foot to foot in horror.
