I''m sorry, i''m sorry, I know this probably shouldn''t be a separate thread or whatever, but yeah...anyway..
Today I was watching T.V. and it was like one of those mtv shows (probably MADE or something like that, anyway...) And, there was this girl on it. And, let me be the first to say that she was a little less than feminine and wore slightly ''manly'' clothes (she just seemed like a tomboy), but that isn''t really important. So, then my mom walks into the room, and the first thing she says is... "Wow, would you look at her, what a dyke." Now, being Bi/Lesbian (I''m still not quite sure...) I was quite offended by her comment. I mean, come on, not all Lesbians are butch and stuff. (Heh, In fact, I''m a complete girly-girl) So, then, in response to her rude, and very stereo-typical comment, I said "Whaa? Mom, what make you say that...?" And then she says "Well, come on dear, just look at her, she looks like a dyke." Well, after she said that I got pretty annoyed and just decided to leave the room, but anyway. Also, let me just say that there''s nothing wrong with being ''manly'' or whatever, I just find that particular stereotype to be annoying.
What are some stereotypes you''ve had to deal with? Do you consider yourself girly, and if so....does the whole ''manly'' lesbian stereotype offend you?
Yes, yes, I''m pretty sure this thread (or one of a similar type) has been done before, but, I can''t find it, and so I''m making a new one. sweatdrop xp

OMG! I know how that feels. Cuz like my grandma thinks if i wear anything light colored that i'm a "lazy queer". Ok, i am bi (but they don't know that) but for her to say stuff like that is just annoying. And like my mom said i'm not allowed to have arm-warmers cuz "they're too girly" GRRR!!! I hate stereotypes!

Actually we would rather you vent here rather than let it all build up and get depressed and do stupid stuff. (by that i refer to the actions that lead to the " Spartan?" thread) *huggles*

People call me a 'f**' for having long hair, not having a girlfriend, being best friends with the one open lesbian in the school, and because I don't like rolling around of a padded mat with another guy wearing only spandex between our seating bodies[wrestling].

-sigh- I just thank the lord that i'm girly, or my mother would probably accuse me of being a lesbian. (yes, yes, I know, it's true, but still)
Heh, seriously though, it's quite annoying. One of my straight friends (yes, yes, I'm sure she's straight) is a tomboy, and because of that my mom's always calling her a dyke behind her back. ><; It's so obnoxious...

My best friend is like that. I tried to buy this little rainbow pin, that said recruiter on it, and like when I showed it to her...she's all like "Wtf? Why would you want to buy that, I mean, you're Bi, not lesbian, right.....? Then she got this weird look in her eyes.
But, ahem, I'm getting slightly off-topic now.....

The only stereotypes I have to deal with are school related...if I hang out with certain people I''m automatically labeled as one of them....and Oh ya! I wore my rainbow armband to school and in the girls locker room I could hear the girls on the other side whispering about it! WHY CAN NOBODY ASK YOU TO YOUR FACE?! gonk
