This is a semi-private RP set in a fantasy version of feudal Japan. If you're familiar with Inuyasha, this is basically that world, but with original characters. Anyone is welcome to spectate, but before you join in, please get in contact with me so we can talk about it.

Summary:
Kenji, a young samurai in training, is on a journey with his mentor Shigeru in order to hone his skills. They encounter a young woman, Takani, who is fleeing persecution in her home village. Shigeru and Kenji agree to let her travel with them, and offer to protect her along the way.

(( Compiling the last several RP PMs to recap where the story is at right now. )) Lural Minamoto_Kino Natane_Tsuyu Lural Minamoto_Kino The small cat girl gasped for breath, and immediately began coughing profusely, hacking up the water that had slipped into her lungs. Her eyes still squeezed shut, she clung to Takani for dear life, her little hands clutching tightly at whatever purchase she could find. "Gahh!" Kenji stared, dumbstruck, and just repeated the name, a little more quietly, "Kue?" "K... kenji? Why is this girl coughing on me?" She was quite frozen with fear at being clung to and having water spit up on her. She half wanted to throw the little girl off her, but she was just a child, and couldn't. And Kenji seemed to know her. "Who is this?" Kue coughed a few more times and then opened her eyes and pushed away from Takani. "Y-you're not Onii-sama..." she paled slightly and her overly-large black ears wilted. Kenji dropped to his knees and reached his hands out for the girl. "She's my sister," he said as an aside to Takani, then asked, "Kue, what on earth are you doing here?" Takani pulled some of the wet fabric from her skin, holding it away from her body as she watched Kenji and the girl. "Your sister?" 'she's a cute kid' she thought, watching the pair. "Why don't we get back to camp and dry off?" Kenji hesitated, glancing between the two girls. "Um, yeah, that's probably a good idea. Come here, Kue." He reached out to gather his sister up in his arms.

(Ah, Might as well.)
Takani watched Kenji and the girl, his sister for a moment. It seemed rather odd to her. They didn't look related to her. And... were those cat ears on Kue? "Kenji...?" she asked softly.

Kue curled her small hands into Kenji's clothes and pressed her face up under his chin, ears and tail twitching. "Onii-sama..."

"I'm here, Kue," he cooed softly, kissing her hair. "But how on earth did you get here? Is mother around?" He frowned with worry. Lural Takani watched Kenji and the girl, his sister for a moment. "Kenji...?" she asked softly. "Hmm?" Kenji glanced back at Takani. "What is it?"

She sighed and looked down. "N... nevermind. We'll talk later, ok?" She gave him a warm smile, though she didn't feel much like smiling. Yes, it was for show.

Kenji was looking at Takani, mildly concerned, until he heard Kue's response. He whirled, eyes widening. "What? How did you make it all this way? Why would you do that? Don't you know it's dangerous?" He hugged his sister tight against his chest, and it was obvious from his expression that he cared a great deal for her and was worried for her safety.

Takani frowned a little as Kenji turned to his sister. "Why don't you go back to the camp. I'll catch us some dinner, ok?" She turned back to the water.

Kenji nodded, seeming to be only half-listening to Takani. "Um, yeah, come on Kue, let's go find Shigeru. I'm sure he'll be interested in knowing why you're out here by yourself."

Takani glanced over her shoulder. She couldn't help but feel jealous. She told herself it was foolish to be jealous. They were brother and sister after all. But that didn't stop the feelings. She cast the line out, plopping herself down on a rock. She bit her lip in frustration, but said nothing, and did nothing but wait for a fish.

Natane_Tsuyu Kue squirmed in his arms, "Down down!" she asked, looking at the ground below. "I want down, please!" "Hmm . . ." Kenji frowned thoughtfully. "Maybe after I get an answer. Until then, I'm holding on tight!" To prove it, he wrapped his arms completely around her and hugged Kue against his chest. "And you know there's no escape from that!"

Kue looked over his shoulder at the other girl. "Girl-san looks lonely. Why not stay here with her?" Tiny hands closing into fists in his clothes.

Takani couldn't stop the frown when she heard the girl speak of her. Why couldn't Kenji see that she was lonely? She wanted to be alone now. "No, he should take care of you first." She said softly, trying to hide all feeling from her voice.
