Introduction Hell. This single word inspires a flurry of images and ideas. This roleplay is just one of them, a single envisioning of what Hell could be like, and of what life could be like in Hell. Imagine a city of slums, an endless urban wasteland sprawling out in all directions. Twisted streets with huddled figures direct the paths of the damned. The six great corporations hold all power in the upper echelons of society, while the rest of the city is dominated by gangs and mafias. Blood is the currency, and the sustenance. The blood of those on the Plane called Earth can infuse the denizens of Hell with power. Great feats can be performed with it, and just a vial can keep you alive for a month. This is my vision. Welcome to Hell.

A Little More About the Place Called Hell Hell sucks. There are six corporations who basically run everything. Their main buildings are somewhere in the center of the city, and the further you get the worse it becomes. Most places are under the control of one of them. The corporations collect blood from humans on Earth, you see, which is the only thing that can keep you alive. That’s how they control you. Then there are the gangs. Gangs are how most of the Damned survive. You’re either part of a gang, protected by a gang, or killed by a gang. That’s the way it is. Most of them are connected to one of the corporations. They say if you get high enough in the gang, you’ll be able to go work for the corporation. I guess it’s a recruiting thing. Me? I don’t like the corporations, so I’m a thief. I take blood from those who “honestly” earn it. Heh, an honest living in hell, that’s a good one. Besides, I’m good at it. It’s what I used to do.

The Denizens of Hell Demons – Demons form the elite upper-class of Hell. There are essentially seven families of Demons, six of which control the six corporations. Each family carries its own traits, which are expanded upon in another post. Vampires – More commonly known as Suckers, Vampires are beings engineered for blood collection. They appear to be humans, but possess teeth which can drain a human’s blood in seconds, as well as super-human speed. This blood is then stored in special organs which replace the digestive system. They also have the ability to absorb light, allowing experienced Vampires to create a sort of camouflage by absorbing light in a way similar to their surroundings. It should be noted that this ability is much more effective in dark places, and in well-lit areas will only fool someone who is not paying attention. Vampires are the ones sent to Earth to collect blood for the corporations. Vampire Hunters – Vampire Hunters are almost always referred to as Wolves or Dogs. Vampire Hunters generally look like humans, but they have drastically increased senses, strength, speed, and stamina. They were engineered to kill the Vampires of rival corporations on Earth, slowing their blood collection. Their main advantage over Vampires is their sensing ability. Their senses are so acute they don’t need their eyes to detect a Vampire. Their strength and stamina are also superior. Their running speed is enough to keep up with a Vampire, though in combat a Vampire is slightly faster. Vampire Hunters can also, with the aid of blood, temporarily transform themselves into a wolf-human hybrid. These forms are extremely deadly, as all traits are further enhanced. However, they lose their opposable thumbs and therefore cannot grasp objects such as weapons. Their teeth and claws are enough, however. Damned – The Damned are the spirits of Earth who were sent to Hell for their sins, or their Hell-born descendants. They often appear as their teenage selves on the outskirts of the inhabited portion of the city. They remember only their sinful acts in life and are often forcefully recruited by the local gang. Damned make up the majority of the population of Hell, and receive the greatest benefits from blood ingestion. Marked – The Marked are the offspring of Demons and Damned. They almost exclusively exist as members of the corporation with a human mother. They are then raised to be the trusted core of the corporation, since other corporations would never accept them (due to their demonic traits, which give away their affiliation). They gain significantly more benefit from blood ingestion than most, but not as much as pure Damned.

The Demonic Families Y’llmir – Pride – The Y’llmir are the smallest Demonic family, since they are very particular about whom they procreate with. They are characterized by their large wings and ram’s horns, and make up for quantity in quality, as a Y’llmir Demon can almost stand toe-to-toe with a Mukarak in a straight fight, but can also fly and access Demonic magics. Because of this, the Y’llmir claim to be direct descendants of Satan himself. The other families contest this. Y’llmir Marked always have ram’s horns, and usually fall into one of three categories: Strong, Winged, or Magical. Zev Genth – Greed – The Zev Genth are currently the largest and most powerful of the corporations. This is largely due to their magical aptitude. They utilize all the Demonic magics to great effect, though are not as specialized as the Sychria or Jhor families. They are characterized by the magical markings their bodies bear from birth. Sychria – Lust – Sychrians are beautiful, and often bear black-feathered wings. They are masters of mind manipulation magics and will usually run when faced by a straight fight. They are also not very interested in the ongoing power-struggle, but rather content with keeping their position and enjoying themselves. Their wings and unearthly beauty are a dead giveaway. Jhor – Wrath – The Jhor family is all about fire. Their bodies and eyes are always red, and no family comes close to their abilities with fiery magics. They are generally small, quick, and constantly ready to torch something. Other families fear to antagonize the Jhor too much since they are wont to retaliate with great force. Telundeb – Gluttony – Telundeb is a strange family by Demonic standards. They receive as much benefit from blood ingestion as the Damned, and appear to be bloated humans with overlarge mouths. Other families speculate that they are not an original Demon family at all. The primary reason they aren’t swallowed by the other families is their fearsome blood magic. Even the Zev Genth can’t replicate it, though some have died trying. The Telundeb can ingest great quantities of blood and perform impossible feats of magic. Renjim – Envy – The Renjim are numerous. They are the only family which is not born, but hatched from an egg. They also have few Marked, since their spikes often kill the Mother at birth. Renjim are short, black, blindingly fast, and bear spikes on their bodies. They have little magical aptitude, but will quickly overrun any enemy. A typical clutch is twelve to twenty eggs. Mukarak – Sloth – The Mukarak have no corporation. In fact, they don’t even have a centralized base of the family. Each small branch sells itself to the corporations for blood. They are mercenaries, and they are strong. The Mukarak are the most physically powerful family, and when given some blood, they’re not lazy at all. A berserker rage encompasses them, and they destroy whatever’s in their path. They have no magical abilities and are characterized by their goat’s feet.

Blood Powers The ingestion of Earth-human blood by any denizen of Hell confers a sort of power. First of all, you need it to survive. It’s other uses are listed here: enhance magic, repair the body, and enhance the body. Enhancing magic and the body with blood is a temporary effect, lasting perhaps five minutes or so. The standard measurements for blood are as follows: Vial – basic unit Examples of Use: Slight increase in magical or physical abilities. Heal a small wound. Bottle – three vials Examples of Use: Perform a spell you normally can’t. Punch through a stone wall. Heal a significant wound. Flask – two bottles Examples of Use: Rain fiery death upon your enemies. Kill, kill, kill. Heal a mortal wound. Jug – two flasks Examples of Use: Don’t, just don’t. Unless you’re Telundeb. Blood can also be dangerous. Your unholy self can’t take too much. Drinking a flask in a day will render you unconscious, while drinking a jug will kill you.

The Rules - First of all, Gaia TOS. You all understand this. - Literacy is paramount. Chatspeak will not be tolerated. - No cybering in the thread. Leave it to the imagination. It’s better that way. - I am God. I am the Devil. I am the thread. If you God-mode, you will likely die. - We’re here to have fun. - Respect each other and their control of their character. - Technology is modern, but bullets aren’t quite as effective against the denizens of Hell, so hand-to-hand is a viable option. That said, enough gunfire will still kill. - If it becomes necessary, I'll add more rules. I hope it doesn't. You may choose any of the entries under “Denizens of Hell”. PM me (do not post) your profile. I’ll let you know if and when you’re allowed to post your first post. Oh, and no pictures. For purposes of age, all races have roughly human life spans. Vampires and Demons live slightly longer. I am planning on being highly selective, so impress me. If there aren’t enough good RPers, the thread won’t run. Format:Gaia username: Character name: Race: Age: Biography: Why you were selected as an elite: Your first post reacting to “The Plot” and anyone who has a post up already:

The Plot So, we’re finally to the plot. If you made it here, congratulations. You will be starting off as a member of Y’llmir Corporation, so you can’t be a demon from another family. If you think you have a good reason for a Marked from another family to be there let me know. But be warned, I will almost surely say no. For whatever reason, you’ve been picked out as an elite member and you’re about to be sent on some important mission. You know it’s important, because the High Archdevil himself is giving it to you. You’ve never spoken to the head of the family, so you’re likely pretty excited and a little afraid… The high double-doors to the High Archdevil’s reception room now stand in front of you, flanked by burly Y’llmir guards carrying massive machine guns and sporting greatswords sheathed on their backs. One of them opens his side, revealing a spacious room with sparse furnishings consisting solely of a few cushioned chairs with ornate end tables. These are set in a perfect semicircle. The Archdevil is not present, but you see that each table has a small glass of blood set out. You’d guess a vial’s worth in each cup. A sumptuous welcome indeed.

As I have had no applications, I am sadly forced to bump this thread to the top, in hopes that it will be more easily noticed. Even so, I may be forced to abandon this thread as a lost cause. We shall see.

This message is for whomever reads this thread in order to close it. Sadly I have received little interest in it, but maybe that's better since I have a busy summer. I just hope you've read it all. If you have any ideas as to what might make it more attractive without shortening it, I would appreciate a PM. Thank you.

((I would love to take part, but I have no idea on why my potential character would have been selected to be Elite. I like the world and everything else and it would be nice to play a Y'llmir. I think that isn't not that no-body cares about the thread, but maybe you scared them off somehow? *sighs* But if you want to close the thread - go ahead. I just thought it would lighten your mood to know, that someone has paid attention to this game =) ))

Thank you for your vote of confidence. Perhaps I was a little intimidating and narrow in my character allowances. I do love the world, though. Maybe I'll rewrite some of my original posts and try to make it a little more open-ended. It kind of starts off in a D&D-like fashion.
