I have a Rocky Mountain x Tennessee Walker, and he's my attention craving boy named Scout. I got him about a year ago and his birthday is June 5th. He is gelded and is around 3 or 4 years old (not for sure because of who I got him from). His height is 13.5 hands and he has a fluffy black main and tail -- and he's gorgeous. ^-^ I think his markings are similar or somewhat like sabino. His coat is chestnut with white socks in the front and white stockings on his back limbs. On his face he has a white star, snip, and stripe, and he has a white patch half-way up his neck in his main. There's also a few white patches along his neck but they're mostly hidden beneath his main and he has a white patch behind his arm and on the bottom of his belly. The most unique marking I think he has is a white spot between his shoulder and wither that looks like South America. :3 He acts very much like a dog at times and he loves to lick and nibble and sniff on people's and their faces. He's broken pretty well with just a halter and lead rope (tied on either sides of the halter); bareback. Still getting him use to bridle and bit, though, and he's never had a saddle on him. He hasn't learned his gates either and he's not much for keeping up on his trotting when you have him do so. He's never really galloped or anything with someone on his back but I imagine it'd be a wonderful experience. smile His temperament is normally excited and loving and he's very clumsy. Sometimes he'll trip when you're leading or riding him and you have to be cautious about walking next to him because he'll accidentally fall over on you for support if he trips. I'm not sure why he's so clumsy, though, but I do know he wasn't payed much attention to where he use to be and he use to jump the fence down the road and cut up his knee's on the barbed fence just to get attention from me in my yard. He was underfed and below the condition he should've been in but we're slowly getting him back into shape and giving him lots of attention that he well deserves and loves. The people only asked $200 for him!! O_O He's very wonderful, though, and I hope to have him for a long time! ^-^ I'll try and get a picture of him on here sometime. Hopefully someone will be able to help me figure out why he's so clumsy! x_x
Oh, and he likes to play 'tag' and kissy games. razz

Gaited breeds are often clumsy under saddle until they are bout 7 yrs old.
I would neve recomend a young horse of any breed for a young rider. It's hard enough to keep your own balance let alone try to guide a young horse.
I'm sure your pony is very sweet though. redface

Hmm. I wonder why that is, then? That they are clumsy until about that age. He is sweet, though. ^-^

Radioactive Pixie Hmm. I wonder why that is, then? That they are clumsy until about that age. He is sweet, though. ^-^ Because most do not stop growing well into there teens, but usually around 10 -12. Horses who are under the age of 6 or 7 have joints that are not fully formed.

You have nothing to worry about unless your horse is so clumsy that hes falling all the time...
Best of luck =)
