Toao walked into the shop for the first time in a week. Since, that event. His normal happy-go-lucky mood was shot and all he wanted to do was mop. He hadn't wanted to come here today, but his sister, Rimi had convinced him that he needed to get out. Misty, his owner had even begun to worry about him and his distraught condition. The problem was he just didn't know what to do with himself. Whenever he smiled he thought of her and her smile. If he frowned, her sad expression came to mind. Laughing wasn't even part of the equation, everything just hurt. He was destroying himself from the inside out, and he just didn't care.
Walking slowly, avoiding the other foxes eyes, he walked over to the counter top and stared up at the fan, feeling the cool air wash over his face. The sun glistened in through the window above him bringing out the gold in his fur. His eyes closed and he sat there, lost in thought for the moment.

The vixen's silver eyes swept over the shop, taking in every detail for later examination. Her tail twitched faintly as a new male entered the shop. Well new to her, who was a stranger to this area as well. Maheya sat up curling her tail around her haunches as she cocked her head to study him.
He was in pain, she could feel it rolling off him but he didn't seem to be wounded...Unable to help herself she got to her feet walking towards him. It wasn't in her nature to leave a fellow creature in pain if she could help it.
"Hello..are you alright?"

His mind and body seemed lost in thought, as if in a trance. Nothing went through his head as he tried to meditate. Then an image flashed before him. Cringing back he let out a small yelp of pain and stepped back. He panted lightly, staring at the floor as it braced him and held him upright.
Then he heard a soft sound, like the whistling of the wind through wind chimes. The sound was quiet and magical, but still had force and purpose behind it. It reminded him of her voice. Cringing again he opened an eye and looked toward the direction from which the noise sprung from. There before him stood a lovely adult female fox in purple and silver colors.
The sun caught the silver in her fur as she walked toward him. It glistened brightly reflecting upon the walls near them. Then the sun caught her eyes and the glowed warmly. Something was held within them, a question like the one she had asked. Looking away from her eyes embarassingly he glanced at the floor. You shouldn't be looking into other females' eyes! How ignorant I am. His tail slowly fell to the floor.
He then tried to manage out a few words. "I-" he chocked out but then broke into coughs. "I'm..." he tried again, "in pain." He was brutally honest as he knew no other way to be. Being born and raised with honesty as one of life's most important features he could commit no lie.
He continued looking down, knowing not what else to do.

Her heart reached out to the stranger infront of her, there was such agony in his voice. When he looked away she flicked her ears wishing she could do something for him.
"I can see that, perhaps I can help. My name is Maheya."
It was her nature to try to help, to soothe pain and to care. She tilted her head faintly studying him. He didn't seem to have any physical wounds so it must be an emotional wound. Well those were often much harder to help and took time and patients.

Feeling almost an aura from her of warmth it almost made him want to turn toward her, to start crying again. But he'd promised himself he wouldn't cry again in front of anybody. Shaking his head he listened to her magical voice again. It called so soothingly. It promised good and happy things. It offered him a chance to have his old life back again.
Can I give in, just this once? Or will I be hurt again? He realized then that his sister was much bravier then him and would have already turned toward the female by now. I have to be brave like my sister! Ears raising slightly, he turned toward the female. "Maheya, my name is Toao."

"Greetings Toao, it is very nice to meet you." Her voice was soft and melodious. It was rather low for a female's voice but rather soothing. She smiled down at him gently, her silver eyes kind.
She could almost feel the pain coming from him and it pulled to her. Maheya sat near him, but not so close as to seem to crowd him. "I do not mean to intrude but I would like to help you if I could.."

He nodded and attempted a smile, but it came out in a grimace. "It's nice to meet you to." He mumbled, looking away slightly again. Raising his face to the fan, he felt realived as the wind brushed over his face, blowing back his hair.
He could feel her presence as she sat nearer to him, but for some reason he didn't feel the need to escape or get away further from her. I hope someone can... Eyes still closed her face fluttered before his eyelids as he turned his face to her. Slowly, he opened then and stared straight into her deep pools of purple. Lost he felt, and it was a good feeling. Not having anything else in the world to think or worry about, just to float here, almost alone, forever. Shaking his head and stared back into her face. "Please." He whimpered, pathetic in his own sense.

She smiled gently as settled closer to him. "tell me what bothers you Toao so that I might understand what pains you so." Maheya felt her heart reaching out to the other fox, to the clear agony of his life. She understood pain and lonleiness, perhaps in helping him, she could also help herself...

He whimpered, despite himself at her soft voice. His heart raced, the strong continious beat of a drum. Laying himself down, he settled in for a story. Gently laying his head againzt his paws, he closed his eyes and brought in a deep breath. "It all started with her..."
A female fox colored in bright magentas and blues stood in his mind's eye. She danced and twirled about happily. Splashing water at him now, tossing a beach ball the next. Her laugh was beautiful and comforting. He wished it never to go away. "She was, perfect."
Then a dark cloud floated into his mind. Tears were running down the once beautiful fox's face. She screamed at him You don't understand!. Then all was silent. He saw himself, a small kit standing there all alone, tail tucked between his legs. Scared. "But I was not."
He opened his eyes again. "She was my older sister's best friend and my first friend."

From the depth of pain he displayed, Maheya knew it had to be a matter of the heart and his words only confirmed it. Her head nodded, not in agreement with what he said, but so he would know she -was- paying attention.
Her eyes dulled to grey as her thoughts turned inward as she mulled the issue over. Matters of the heart were always delicate matters. Her voice held not accusation when she finally spoke "you cared for her, but she did not return your feelings?" It was possed as a question but her tone made it a simple statement.
"There is no fault to be found in this Toao. Many friendships between males and females may turn into caring even one sided. No one is to be blamed for such."

He seemed to look past the other fox as she thought deeply and continued to do so as she spoke. If one had asked him what he was looking at, he realized he wouldn't have been able to give one a good answer. The question did register, but somewhere in the back of his mind, in his sub-conscious in a sense.
Looking back at the female she continued on, stating sugar coated words for him. He knew them to be such, but he also knew the helpful and hopeful attempt and feelings behind each word. It was delicate, like the being that stated them. He was afraid that it almost might seem to her that he may bite if she slipped up in her speech. That he may lash out at her and take her by the throat. But he, no he would never, ever, even hurt such a small being as a fly.
He remembered the day Misty had brought him home a present from this store. A small tea kettle and cup. She had told him, "Be careful with these as they will soon grow into a friend that only you can love and care for." They sat now in his room. Her words had run deep with him and every night he slept beside them, making sure they were alright. Like a father. They had been the things that had kept him slightly sane through his hardships and now his mind drifted and rested upon them as he thought of answers to her questions and statements.
At first, he hesitated, but then stated. "She did not." His voice cracking a bit at the end. Shaking his head, he cleared his throat and continued. "If no one is to blame, then why did I hurt her, and why did she yell at me so. I am to blame for this task." He thought again of the tea kettle at home, how warm and comfortable it always made him feel. How safe.

"How should se feel hurt or yell at you for something like that? I doubt that you tried to push your affections upon her. Yelling and casting blame, I feel, is an over reaction to something so delicate." She felt pity for the todd before her, but knew better than to let it show in her voice or her eyes. He would resent her pity.
She very gently laid her paw on his front leg, tilting her head to smile down at him gently. "I doubt that you hurt her Toao. It sounds to me as if she over-reacted to your confession of your feelings. She should not have yelled, there was nothing to yell over."

Yelling is always a bad thing, and she had a point, it overexagerates things. All it has ever done is hurt others.
Maheya's kindness seemed to overwhelm him, like a warm ocean breeze wave washing over him. She overexagerated... Could that have really been the blame for all this pain? It seemed like such a simple way to brush it off and move on, and yet, as the image of her came to his mind, it seemed to make sense.
He then came to a realization, "She has always exagerated things." His eyes widened with this new thought and as Maheya looked up at him and smiled, he looked down at her and did the same thing. "Thank you for helping me see." Her didn't laugh yet, but the smile stuck.

Her own smile was warm and sweet as she nodded. It was in her nature to help and care for others, and the knowledge that she was abel to help him made her feel warm inside. "You are very welcome Toao, I was just glad I was able to help you."

"Yes," he nodded slowly. "You've given me a lot to think on."
He moved his paws in the an odd shape on the floor of the store, not really thinking about it. Then, as the shape dawned upon him, he realized he had been drawing a heart. Blushing quickly, he erased the shape before it was finished and look back up at her.
"So Maheya, what's your story?" He smiled openly at her, guinnely curious.(Maybe this will help a bit. : ) )
