 She didn't think it would be that easy to get away from her parents... But with another sister and a brother needing attention as well she'd been able to sneak away, disappearing on her own for a bit. It wasn't as if she was going to get herself into any trouble out here... No, she was just going to have a bit of an adventure and maybe find something to snack on.
Her tail swished back and forth behind her as she moved through the brush, spines lying flat so that they didn't catch on anything. She was paying no mind at all to the amount of noise she was making with her movements, cocky enough at the moment to think that she could easily deal with whatever came her way.

 His hoof was planted firmly on the carcass of a poor widdle bunny as he ripped through its soft underbelly. He growled with satisfaction, swallowing down the blood and meat. He was a glutton whenever his stomach started to grumble in distress, but he'd learned food was important from being locked away like some animal for two-legger enjoyment.
His ear swiveled at the sound of breaking twigs and rustling leaves. He pulled the dead animal closer to him instinctively. There was no way he would give up what he'd hunted for anything. But maybe... there was something bigger he could sink his teeth into?
He watched and waited like a cat waited for a mouse. Poised, ready to spring into action and pounce. And then he caught the faint scent that distinguished all Kalonas. Blood, old, new, but blood like a sweet calling card. Then he saw the bright colored little filly. She wasn't an ordinary Kalona foal, it was obvious by the wings, the coloring.
"Away from your parents, young fangs," he asked in a rumbling voice.
[-I wasn't sure if the main thread roleplay counted or not, so just gave his general greeting of all the young kalona.-]

Her own senses weren't yet as sharp as they would be in the years to come and she completely missed the scent of blood until she was on top of it. She could feel her stomach reacting as her mouth watered but she shook it off. She didn't want to be hungry right now... Even if food was close and wounded if not already dead.
It was then that she heard something; someone, rather. A voice was addressing what she could only assume was herself as she had not yet seen anyone else around. "Uh huh. I am. I got tired of being around them so I decided to go be on my own. Who're you and why's it matter?" She huffed, bright eyes gleaming as she glanced up.
(( Nope. XD I don't usually count in-thread stuff unless it's stated as being formal IC RP instead of OOC. X3 ))

He let out a small hissing laughter that showed the sharpness of his teeth. She had spirit, that she did. And was rather bold. He pulled a leathery wing towards his chest and bowed his head formally. "Myrddin of the Red Dragons at your service. And it's no matter of my concern, but mere curiosity if I'd have to expect more company than just you."
He remained rooted to the spot, almost guarding what he had caught. He had better manners, but never relinquished a meal just for idle conversation. He tucks his wings back at his sides and stretched his neck to to rip another juicy piece of the rabbit off. This gave him a moment's pause to chew and think. "So you wander from the safety of your parents. Bored?"

She took that moment to spread both of her own wings, bowing her own head while using her appendages for balance, almost as if making a curtsy. "My name is Malison. Mother says it's a good way to let everyone know that I'm a bane on her existence." She smiled brightly with the unknowing pride of youth.
That smile faded quickly, replaced with a scrunched nose and the unintentional baring of tiny fangs. "No. I just didn't want to be around them anymore for a while. Besides, I can take care of myself." She nodded once, spines on her tail standing as she swished it back and forth.

He took a large bite and tugged on the rabbit until it's spine snapped in half with a sickening crack and pop. He tossed the half in his mouth at the little one. She was of no threat to him and he had better manners than most of the Kalona. Besides which, she seemed to have the markings of his kind, the dragons. Sharing food was a sign that he saw her as an equal.
"Malison," he said the name with a slight hiss on the 's,' rolling off the tip of his tongue. "Well, then Malison, the best way to take care of yourself is to eat up," he said with a sage-like nod. "It is always wise to make sure your stomach is sated when traveling," he said before burying his muzzle into his portion of the rabbit.

Her nose wrinkled slightly as she leaned down to eye the half of the rabbit that had fallen by her feet before glancing up at the Elder. She watched him for a moment before dipping her head down, tiny fangs tearing at the still warm flesh of the rabbit. "Mmm. I've never caught a rabbit before... They're fast, aren't they? You must be a lot faster. I'll be faster one day... When I'm all grown up."

He glanced up with a piece of fur stuck to his nose horn with a sly grin. "It's not a matter of speed unless it senses you. The key is stealth sometimes too. But yes, they are quick and nimble little things because of how small they are. Though, they never equal to the power of the dragons or kalona," he stated boastfully.

"Oh, really?" She tilted her head, looking up to the large male once more... And then she found herself giggling. "Mryddin, Sir, you look silly with that fur on your nose. Is that how you hide from the rabbits? By looking like one?"

He narrowed his sight down his muzzle and saw the obnoxious piece that seemed to be stuck. He tossed his head lightly and it fell to the ground with ease. He let out a hissing laughter, "Like being a wolf in sheep's clothing? I've never thought about that."

"A... Wolf in sheep's clothing?" She tilted her head to the side, trying her best to make sense of that one. "Sheep... Don't wear clothes though, do they? I thought that was just those funny looking two-legs things that I'm supposed t'stay away from because they have bows and arrows... And some of them have metal sticks that make loud noises."

"It's a very old saying that basically means you're trying to blend in and be part of the crowd just so you can sneak a few tastes of the crowd. Though, it might be hard for us to do something like that, unless you play the nice kalona." He was about to take another bite of the rabbit when she mentioned two-legger. A rumbling growl rolled in his chest as he remembered the last ones he had seen, had watched them flee like insects from him.
"Two-leggers aren't to be faced in a large crowd and especially at your smaller size." He paused in thought. "However, when you're bigger and there is one or two, the hunt for them is very exquisite."

"Why would I want to play nice?" She snorted softly as she shook her small head. "That's no fun... Seems really silly to hide who you are from others just because you wanted to get close to them. I'm never going to hide from anyone." She stood proudly, puffing her chest up as her tiny wings twittered.

He tilted his head to the side at her proud acclamation. He knew the benefits of luring others to his side before ripping their throats out and enjoying the feast. True, it took longer to accomplish that task, but how many weary travelers had stumbled upon his horde those many years ago and out-witted them in some manner so he could enjoy their sweet flesh.
He let a twisted grin spread across his features, like he was in on a very sick joke. "Because the ending reward is so much sweeter." He tried to think of a situation to explain it to her. "What we are is evident with our wings, tail, and teeth, that we can never hide. It's like a pretend game, acting like something you aren't for the entertainment of yourself." He wasn't sure if she'd understand, but it was always worth a shot.

"Mm... Games. I like games." She nodded slowly, an almost menacing grin curving the corners of her small muzzle as her tail twitched back and forth. "Do you play these games often then, Mryddin? Are you playing one now? I'd like to play too if you are..." That grin turned into a childish smile, green eyes gleaming as she glanced up at him once more.
