"So what will you do, Sosuke? How will you put the whole world on your shoulders now?" Sosuke struggled up onto his feet. Cold. Dead. He felt nonexistent in his own mind. The old man was more than what met the eye. Sosuke couldn't feel his his own soul, as if it had been shattered into many pieces.

The old man grabbed Sosuke by the neck and hoisted him into the air. His breath didn't smell, but had an unnatural scent. He smelt like death. Not of body...but of soul. He finally spoke again, his words scraping the insides of Sosuke's ears. "You will die, but not now and not here. I will kill all of your loved ones...how would you react to that, I wonder?"

Sosuke felt his strength draining at every word. He mustered up all his will power and courage, and spat on the old man's hooded face. A wrinkled, age-ridden hand slapped Sosuke across the face. The old man threw him across the dark room. Sosuke supposed he hit a wall, but everything was darkness, so he couldn't know.

He sat up, and saw the man grab Hitomi. No. Not her! He lunged at the old man. The dogs! He had forgotten them. The pitch-black dogs. The only way they could even be seen was when their blood-red eyes zeroed in on you, and their long golden teeth closed around your flesh. Sosuke screamed as a sharp pain tore up his leg. The hhounds were holding him down. He could only watch in horror as the silver gleaming knife was drawn across Hitomi's throat, the bright red water splattering him in the face. And then, silence...
