Sunday - It's alive!

I've been having a hard time printing out portions of my stories and research; I had no working printer. Now I finally have a working printer, software and all. Now if I could just kick my butt into gear and start writing things!

Saturday - Balance is the key to life... right?

So I decided to start my own member journal to rant about how unfair it is to finally be getting a social life, but also getting renewed interest in my writing (with a vengeance). I took a couple year hiatus from writing because my creative well went through a drought. I had no inspiration and no motivation to work through the drought. Of course, this was also a time when I had no social life to speak of and so plenty of time to work on my writing. I was shy, reclusive, and just down right uninterested in developing a social life.

Now, I've got more inspiration than I know what to do with and a developing social life (probably something having to do with the fact I turned 21 last month) that I don't want to kill. Gah! I need to sit down and pour through Kelly Stone's book Time to Write and formulate a writing schedule around my work and social lives. That should prove interesting.

OMG I love you! I read your stories at the Writer's Cafe-and they were really good. The Big Time was -uh- interesting...

Fabulous! I wish you much luck with your new found inspiration. May it become something glorious!

Thanks everyone! Now that I have a working printer, I think everything will go a lot smoother.

And Lenne, I get that a lot about that particular story of mine. This is the only story I think that I have fully planned out in my head of what's supposed to happen and when.

Wednesday - Why, oh why, will this chapter not come out!?

I've been thinking, outlining, and attempting to write chapter four of my story The Big Time. However, I just can't get it to come out right! I'm not sure if it's because I don't understand my character Sadie all that well, or if this chapter is even needed! As far as I know it is required because I don't really want to skip a month's worth of time.

Maybe I'm supposed to just start the story after this time period and reference back to the three chapters I already have. Start the story with Sadie and Kris agreeing to do the thing and then reference back to how Sadie pissed Kris off and how she had to practically beg him to go along with it. Reference back to how Kris met the man that will be his stalker. Gah! Too many options!

Coffee... you have failed me. I think I need to invest in a new supply of Coke and chips. Of course, having to go to work during my prime writing time doesn't help any either. *Sigh.*

If I might suggest hanging upside down from something and listening to music? Or at least looking at pictures and listening to music. I think your brain just wants some non-text-based stimulus. It'll behave biggrin . Or mayhap your outline needs to stew. Either way, it's always OK to let it hang out and come back to it later. You may hit upon what you need to work on while doing something else!

To saint_savin: Thanks for the advice. I think I am going to let that story just stew some more.

Friday - One hour, Three stories.

It's become a weekly thing where I take my sister-in-law to an appointment she has. I sit in the waiting room with a Mocha Madness from the local Honey Dew and ponder the various story options I have and where to go with them. The product of today:

Book 1: Jada, justice seeker of the syrinx demons, is sent on a task to get a fellow syrinx, Lorraine, back in line. In the process, Jada meets a man (name to be determined) and falls in love.

Book 2: Gina, librarian of the syrinx society, is the only holder of the ritual to summon a syrinx demon. It is her job to protect this ritual with her life so that the mortals do not get their hands on it as that would mean death for her fellow demons. Unfortunately, a mortal scholar gets a little too close to figuring out the ritual and becomes the target for a cult of mortals who want to control/become syrinx demons. Gina takes it upon herself to protect this man and in the process learn how he figured everything out. However, she falls in love with him.

Book 3: The scientifically inclined one of the syrinx society is sought out by Gina and Jada because they wish to discover the secret of the only living male syrinx demons and see if their lovers have what it takes to survive the change in tact. In the process of her studies, the scientist is required to search for the oldest male syrinx and convince him to go along with her experiments. They fall for each other.

There will be more books in this series as I think them up, but if you couldn't tell it's paranormal romance. heart At least something is piecing itself together!

To savin and Desert: Thanks for the input! It's a good thing to know that people would be interested in a series focusing on the females unlike the common male society series out in publication.

Saturday - Where'd all my gas go?

Having to travel to the next town over just so I can get some decent brain juice (my new term for the delightful Mocha Madness) is not helping with my attempt at conserving gas. However, I felt the trip justified.

I am now looking at the daunting task of piecing together the Syrinx society. I need to figure out how their society would work considering the fact that there a few of their kind in existence and spread out across the world. *Sigh.* I really should find a way to invest in mocha, I'm going to be going through a lot of it in the near future.

1:53 AM - Technically still Saturday since I haven't gone to sleep yet.

I've been staring at my computer all evening, even with a Mocha Madness that I went out of my way to get, and a notebook beside me. However, I'm still coming up with na-da. I have an entire society to begin planning and tweaking and mucking up, yet I can't get the brain to function.

Perhaps it is the quiet, waiting-room-esque feel that helps me in my planning stage. After all, I was in a waiting room for one hour and came up with the brief summary of three books. I guess now it is just up to me to figure a way to duplicate that serene quietness into my everyday life. How does one go about duplicating that? I know it's not the white walls and there is no music playing usually. The room is just a horseshoe of chairs focused on sliding windows with a door leading out of the room on either side. There is usually no one sitting in the room with me and even the secretaries don't bother me as the windows are usually shut and they are doing their own thing.

So why does such a bland environment inspire me so? Perhaps it is the blandness that is actually the key. My own room is messy and cluttered. The rest of my house, not much different seeing as there are children in the residence. Work, well, do I need to elaborate further on that? Where can I get the same blandness outside of that room? And I don't intend to go loitering around in waiting rooms just for the sake of my writing. (Though if I become desperate in the next few weeks, I just might.)

*Sigh.* I guess I should go meditate on the problem and try to find a solution.

Wow, so how is it going along?

Maybe you can makeover your bedroom into something bland so you can write biggrin

So they are based on the women instead of the men. Will it be each book they find a man like in other series?

It might be also that there is something specifically about your writing space that you need to change. Perhaps something you fiddle with on your desk? I actually had to move my post-it notes off of mine not that long ago. GAH! Most distracting things ever!

I could not be more pro female-centered stories. The world needs more fictional women kicking a** instead of whining about SHOES and the situation isn't going to improve unless more a**-kicking gets written.

You might consider reading a cultural anthropology textbook to get some ideas for your culture! They're very inspiring.

Well, there is some whining about shoes, but only after the a**-kickery is done.

Thanks for the idea about the textbook though!

And Desert, that is exactly what I am aiming for with this series.

Sunday - Anger fuels me like nothing else.

I wasn't sure what to write for my update here, but now thanks to someone that I formerly considered a friend, I have something.

Anger fuels my like nothing else can. If you get me seeing red, even better get me on the brink of crying at the same time, I can pound out 1,376 words in a matter of minutes.

Too bad I'm not as much of a masochist like I used to be.

I'm happy for you...well, not the fact that something made you angry, but good job with cranking out all those words!

I kind-of-sort-of know the feeling. A couple months back I got more emotionally taxed than ever in my life, and after that the whole four-am thing started and my writing took an upturn. Masochism can be a good thing. Pain is consciousness.

Yay for female-centric stories! We do need more of those so that things like "fewer archetypes for females" stops popping up. And I started reading The Big Time, I still need to read more, but so far I like your writing style a lot! <3
