The bright orange sun blared down on a blue and black pelt. The cat that owned the pelt was sitting upon the bank of the stream, in RiverClan territory. The tom stood overlooking the bank, letting his shadow slip over the side for all the fish in the stream to see. Poisonfrog leaned over, seeing a fish swimming, quite fast, through his shadow. He dipped his paw in but... wasn't fast enough. Poisonfrog shook his head in disappointment. "I hate bank fishing!" he had been speaking to himself at the time, not knowing that anyone was near him.

Reedstripe had been padding down to the riverbank and heard Poisonfrogs comment. She let a sly grin creep over her face and she crouched. Then at the right moment, she lunged, pushing him in as Reedstripe toppled over him into the watter yelling. "Then try like this!" Reedstripe paddled strongly to the surface, and emerged laughing.

Poisonfrog toppled into the stream, spitting and spattering out water. He had been taken by surprise and had not been prepared to fall, or be pushed, into the stream. He swam to the top of the water, looking at Reedstripe. She was very beautiful. The deputy of RiverClan was her mother, whom was also very pretty.
He jolted his thoughts back to Reedstripe, the stream, fishing... "Reedstripe! How do you do it like this? Won't you scare all the fish away?" All Poisonfrog had ever known was bank fishing, he had never been taught how to catch fish in the water. He started to wonder why... but then, the thought was gone.

Reedstripe fished laughing and swam in the water on her back before diving down and popping up on the other side of Poison frog. "Silly! Like this!" Reedstripe mewed, wading to the waters edge and hiding in shadowed water. Her keen eyes watched the water untila silver flash made her dive. Moments later, she swam up, a plump fishj in her smiling jaws.

Poisonfrog smiled, happy he was learning this great technique, and having fun at the same time. "Okay, okay, I get it! Let me try!" Poisonfrog swam over to the opposite side of the bank and sank back into the shadows. He watched and waited. Suddenly, a silvery glow leaped up a few inches out of the water. That was enough for Poisonfrog to hook the fish with his claw, killing it with that one blow. He set the fish down in the water and picked it up between his jaws. He beamed at Reedstripe. "Fank yoo," he mumbled, the fish still in his mouth.

Reedstripe giggled and swam easily to the waters edge and set her fish down. "I prefer diving at then, but hooking them workds just the same. Plus, its alot more fun this way," she emowed cheerily, looking back to the water, just in time to see a silvery flash near Poisonfrog's tail. She dove, her back skimming Poisonfrog's hind paws as she raced after the fish that was dead seconds later. She poked her head up out of the water, the fish dangling from her mouth.

Poisonfrog smiled and Reedstripe, just now noticing how... attractive she was. She had sleek gray fur, and an unusual pink mark on her cheek. Everyone had thought of her as beautiful, but attractive? It had never come to him.
"That looks like fun, too!" Poisonfrog sank back into the shadows again and watched until a silvery flash caught his eye in the middle of the river. He dove for it, and seconds later, it was dead. "That was fun! Thanks, Reedstripe!" He smiled appreciatively at Reedstripe.

Reedstripe had never thought of a cat in the way Poisonfrog was thinking of her. No, she was to oblivious and fast paced to stop and think. To realize what might be inside. One day perhaps though...
"Of course its fun! and far better then bank fishing if you asked me. I never caught one fish up there...I would always jolt if I saw any fish, or my sahdow was near the water's edge and it twitched, scaring the fish off..."

"Yes! Way more fun! Plus, it catches more fish! With bank fishing I'm always too slow," Poisonfrog stopped, deciding not to list anything else that he did wrong. He smiled at Reedstripe, then spotted another silvery flash. Even though he had not been in the shadows, the fish was out and about, swimming along as if it was a regular day. Fish are so stupid! Poisonfrog thought as he dove for the fish, clenching the now deceased fish in his jaws. He swam to the surface and smiled at Reedstripe, proud at his catch.

Reedstripe mewed happily at her firends catch, then froze, her eyes on a huge carp swimming lazily towards them. It had to have been the biggest fish she had ever seen! She dove like lightning, comming towards it like a rapids. The fish didnt know what was happening until it had been bitten. It began to flop violently. Reedstripe had expected this with a fish this big, and raked its face with her claws until its movement died to a few jerks as it died. she swam up to the surface, aching for breath, but bursting with pride at her catch. The fish was as big as she was! She paddled to the shore, then dragged her catch up and awed at it, grinning happily.

Poisonfrog followed Reedstripe's every movement. That's a huge carp! He thought, marveling at the size of the fish. His round eyes grew larger as Reedstripe caught the huge fish. "Wow, Reedstripe!" He said enthusiastically, "That's a great catch!" He smiled at Reedstripe, still amazed that she had managed to catch the fish. Sadly, he had no idea whether or not he'd be able to catch a fish that large.

"There rarely ever large fisbh down here in the river, let alone one this big! It must have escaped the two-legs who sit by the water upstream a ways by the bridge. Thenks Poisonfrog!" She mewed happily, her tail swishing with enthusiasm.

Poisonfrog smiled, longing in his eyes. If there was any way to impress the deputy's daughter it would be to catch a fish as big as she had. Oh, well. The moment had passed, she had spotted this fish first, there was nothing he could do about it. "So..." He said, breaking the silence that had been enforced by his smile. There wasn't much left to say, while fishing. He thought for a moment, no conversation topic coming to mind.

Reedstripe stretched and grinned down at Poisonfrog floating in the water. "How about fishing a little longr, then moving down by Sunningrocks to relax?" she mewed happily. Her mother will be so proud of her...

"Or how about moving to Sunningrocks now?" He laughed. There had been too much fishing for that little sliver of time. He was ready to relax.
Poisonfrog stretched out, his feet dangling in the water's depths, his head bobbing above the water now. He was really ready to relax.
