The ice cream shop is as cookie-cutter as they come, its big checkerboard floor tiles leaking up the walls into a dispersed pattern of black, white, and pink. Small circular tables with stiff-backed chairs are offered for customers off to the walls, as well as two shaded picnic tables out front.
Still, the ice cream selection here was much better than the chocolate-vanilla-strawberry block of grocery store brand "ice dessert" that sits, half consumed, in the Trapt's freezer. Alaina was aching for a refreshing green apple mint - perhaps on a waffle cone, too, mm.. - so, the trio of mother, hawk boy, and bandage girl headed out for an ice cream adventure.
The door chimes hello in the form of an inexpensive bell, but even that facinates Elly to no end. She makes Garrett open and close the door for her twice more before she is left smiling ear to ear from just how exciting a door at an ice cream palace can be. Garrett rolls his eyes and joins his mother at the counter, to scope out the many different choices that lie ahead for him.
Elly, meanwhile, stands just beside the door, staring waaaay up at the bell at the top of the door. Such a wonderful noise! Her tail swishes around her ankles, echoing her eagerness for someone to set off the sound again.

As Elly stared at the door, it opened once again, the sound playing for her once more. The opener-a todder wearing green shorts-seemed a bit surprised and confused at the door, and also a bit nervous as he’d almost bumped into the girl.
“Oohps. Sorry.” Bailey intoned. His brother and mother were on their way in behind him, but he’d been the most eager to enter. The pink, black and white place had just looked so utterly odd to look at. He’d never tried ice cream, nor had Kahlua or Dartsmoore, so they had all decided to stop in.
Kahlua, being small and skinnier than Bailey, managed to squeeze past his brother and Elly into the building. He utterly loved the idea of a place that sold sweet frozen milk-that’s what he was told Ice Cream was, as that was all the definition Dartie could find of it. Glancing back at Bailey, ‘Lu rolled his eyes. How was it that that boy always seemed to find some girl to talk to wherever he went? Honestly, by the time he was a teen, he’d have swarms of ladies after him.
Dartsmoore rubbed her temples after she carefully nudged Bailey out of the doorway so she could get in. Truly, this place hurt her mind. It was just too…..bright. But then, it was meant to be the opposite of a bar, so it would seem too bright to her. Anyway, they’d have to order soon. “Come on Kahlua,” she informed the redhead she had just joined near the counter, “Let’s figure out what we’re ordering. Bails will join us in a bit, probably.”

Elly shines with excitement as the door once again makes a noise, looking down from the bell and to the culprit. "Haaaiii! You make the door sing!" she exclaims, clapping chubby hands together to applaud him.
Garrett and Alaina scan the selection from different ends of the counter, both tempted by another flavour once they were sure they decided on the previous. As the door rings, Garrett glances up, making sure Elly hadn't figured out how to open it herself. But, upon seeing more customers, he gives an odd smile at his sister's endless socialization, and ducks back down to check out the look of the orange sherbet.

Kahlua wandered over to the counter to get a good look at all of the different flavors. So many colors, so many choices! What was he to pick? They all looked so good!
Dartsmoore had a bit of an easier time choosing. She just closed her eyes, spun and pointed. Whatever she ended up pointing at, she ordered. It ended up being Butter Pecan. That didn’t look half as disgusting as some of the other flavors, with their bright sickening colors. Ordering a small waffle cone of it, she glanced around at her children, to make sure they weren’t in trouble. Kahlua was hunting for ice cream like they had come there for, and Bailey was obviously chit-chatting with the girl of the day. He seemed to find some new girl to talk to every day. This would get quite interesting.
Bailey smiled at Elegy. “Oh, fun!” He said, opening it up again to see if it actually did make a sound. “Aha!’

Elly lets out a squeal at a pitch dogs would cry from, followed by a laugh. "You's so good at that!" she compliments him on his door opening skills, having herself been discouraged from such activity without extensive supervision. Or, well, anything, for that matter.
Torn between the flavour she'd come in seek of, and the most delicious variation of triple chocolate she'd seen, Alaina requests a taste test from the lady behind the counter.
Garrett, meanwhile, decides on the banana split, telling his mum to order it for him as he goes to collect his sister to make her choice. "Elly," he calls to get her attention, decidedly too lazy to walk the entire distance and physically collect her himself, "Come, bring your new friend and pick out your ice cream so Mum can pay."

Bailey blushed and smiled at the girl, and then rushed over to pick his flavor. It was rather simple for him. All of the bright colors seemed interesting but his attention was immediately drawn to a lovely light green ice cream with small brown chunks in it. Pointing to it, he told Dartie that was wanted so she could buy it and he could eat. Kahlua’d finally chosen butterscotch ripple, and they could chill out.

"Whatchu picked?" Elly asks her brother, looking up at him with wide eyes.
Garrett ushers her back to the counter and lifts her up in order for her to see the choices properly. "You get to pick your own," is his evasive response, not wanting her to order the same.
"Oooooh.." Elly howls loudly, pressing her nose and palms against the cool glass. She looks left to right, taking, thankfully for Garrett's arms, only a couple minutes to settle on a purple and pink cotton candy ice cream. Alaina, who settled with her original choice of fresh mint apple, orders the three desserts, pays, and distributes them appropriately.
Elly's comes in a cup, supposedly because it'd be less messy for her to eat. Alaina wasn't so convinced, but bought it anyway. Elly runs over to Bailey with her cup in both her hands. "Whatchu picked?" she tries her question again before scooping some of the bright ice cream into her mouth.

Bailey took a bite of his and thought hard. “mint chocolate chip?” he said, a slightly inquired statement. He recognized the taste of mint from the peppermint patties his mother had taken a liking to, and the chocolate chip from Kahlua’s favorite cookies. “What have you got?” he said, glancing at hers. It seemed okay, thought the bright colors made it seem a bit too disgustingly sugary. He’d begun to share Dartie’s tastes about overly-sugary things being gross.

Elly swallows hard, shivering exaggeratedly as she does. "Cot'on candy!" she practically squeals, hopping in her place. "Yummy!"
Alaina sends an acknowledging head nod at the other mother, and sits down at the table nearest her daughter to watch without interfering. She's gotten quite used to the one socialite of the family befriending everyone she sees, but certainly with her condition and the risk of strangers not being as friendly as Elly thinks, she and Garrett keep a tight watch.
Not at all phased by her family joining her, Elly instead remembers she doesn't yet know this new friend's name. She tilts her head in a way that she's learned from her mother, but uses it in a different way entirely. "I'm Elly! What's your name?!"

Dartsmoore nodded back towards the other guardian and quietly licked her ice cream. It was okay at least. Not too sweet, and somewhat crunchy. Kahlua was happily taking bites from his as well. Bailey looked back over at Elly and smiled. “I’m Bailey, and that’s Kahlua, my brother.”

Alaian, overhearing the introduction, chokes back a chuckle at the apparent naming theme of the other's children. She grins into her ice cream and pats Garrett's head reassuringly, who had turned to her with worry that she'd actually been choking on her ice cream.
All the same, Elly, nose dipped with pink ice cream, waves exaggeratedly at Kahlua and shouts her greeting. "Hi! Hi Kahluaaa!"
Scooping up some more ice cream, the only time she seems to be silenced in front of new company, Elegy turns again to Bailey and makes known an observation in her best indoor voice. "You look like, you look like you're flakey!" she says, pointing at Bailey's peeling, and continuing, "Did you go in the sun a long time? My arms and my nose gets like that when I'm in the sun too much!"

Dartsmoore took another bite of her ice cream and decided it would probably taste much better with liquor. So, from her hair, she drew a bottle of some dark amber liquid that must've had some butterscotch in it to attain its flavour , texture and color. Pouring that upon her ice cream as one would a topping, Dartie recapped the bottle and put it away so she could finish her ice cream. However, on an afterthought, she redrew the bottle, took a swig, and THEN recapped it, returning it to it's hiding spot so she could finish her ice cream, which tasted considerably better now.
Kahlua gave Elegy a vague dirty look and went back to his ice cream without a word, besides a mumbled "weird girls". He much preferred hanging out with boys than girls, they seemed less crazy.
Bailey looked down at where the two layers of scales on his left side had almost completely peeled off, leaving only smatterings of the gray skin that covered the rest of his body. "No, I think I'm just shedding my old skin. The new one will be much stronger." he intoned softly, before turning back to her, nodding and smiling. Taking another bite of his ice cream, he grinned. "Is yours any good?"
