We've all heard the argument that Pro-Lifers think of women as incubators and baby makers. That that's why we want abortion illegal. Well I don't know about you, but the only people I've ever heard call women incubators is the Pro-Choicers. Think about it. Making abortion illegal will turn women into just incubators and baby makers? Honestly, this indicates to me that they seem to think that pregnant women can't do anything but sit there and wait. That becoming pregnant completely erases everything about you but the pregnancy. You can't move or think at all.

I don't know about you, but I've never met a women who just became an incubator zombie when she got pregnant. And I find it offensive that Pro-Choicers think that's the case.

Pro-Life: Because I've never thought of any woman as a mindless zombie, pregnant or not.

Yes, they are the only ones that say and think that. It's if a woman is pregnant and if she had to have the baby, she can't or isn't able to do anything until it's born.

Many healthy pregnant woman still work for awhile, some go to school, shop, exercise, ect... they do alot of things, not just sit and do nothing.

It's like one you become pregnant and stay pregnant/have the baby, your life is over or you will be useless or miserable. That type of thinking is depressing and seems more anti-woman.

Yeah, it annoys the piss out of me when they say that.

I totally agree with you, and I also find it refreshing that at my new workplace, I have seen no less than three pregnant women working while showing very predominantly. Pregnant women can, and will, work, it's been proven to me. They still deserve maternity (paid) leave, as well.

I love women-- I don't want them to be incubators, but I don't want them to be killing their children for the sake of the sex they think they need. Abortion is something that doesn't improve what women are about, because it gets put under a banner of empowerment, which is grossly in contradiction with the morals that society has in place right now. It's counterproductive to what society is about.

At least to me.

Quite a melodramatic take on things...

How did we women ever survive with the bodies we have. Our healthy uteruses are such a crutch.

Yes me must be cursed and not a full person, especially if we are pregnant. Didn't you know that if we have babies we will be poor and miserable and if we put are babies up for adoption it will never be adopted and will hate us and also be miserable? Seeing how i'm not full caucasion, my baby will never have a chace. rolleyes

God, they make it sound like we are so helpless and weak and unable to find ways to make it through life once we're pregnant. And they keep calling us anti-woman.

Of all logical fallacies, strawmen are the most annoying. They take your original stance, like the one saying that nobody has a right to kill a fetus, and twist it into something else, like that we hate women and that women must be slaves for feti. It's the perversion of one's original intent that is an issue. Fortunately, it is indeed a logical fallacy and is thus not a real threat to our stance.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I find it offensive that pregnant women are supposedly just incubators. Life also ends at pregnancy apparently. You can't pursue your own interests, you can't have friends anymore, no, life ends. That's it. You're as good as dead because you're pregnant. You will never be able to do anything, ever, because women are too weak to do things like go to school or work while they're pregnant. Crazy pregnancy hormones make them subhuman, they're just incubators.

It just ties in with the whole undertone of "Pregnancy makes life hard and the only solution is to end it." It's this whole movement that stunts the progression that our society needs, because as long as abortion is available, why make life easier on pregnant women? They could choose to end it, so why should businesses and schools have to change? Why should society have to change? Why should people stop calling young pregnant women sluts? Abortion is there, women can end it, and that's good enough. No. Not acceptable. Women deserve better. And this whole bemoan the state of pregnancy and pretend without abortion women will die in droves and become chained to their kitchens thing is getting old.

I'm not arguing that getting rid of abortion will change it, but I am saying that too many people are comfortable saying abortion is good enough. It isn't.

One of my professors worked...right up until she went into labor, I think. Her job's pretty cushy, but she didn't act as if her pregnancy was a burden at all.

For that matter, my former tenant, who wasn't rich and had a high-risk pregnancy, apparently didn't consider abortion at all.

Oh, but who are the ones who consider pregnancy a punishment? Yeah, see, at Guantanamo Bay they're developing a technique to forcibly impregnate male prisoners. If they cooperate, they can have an abortion. If not, they must suffer the worst indignity ever known to women. Ever.

Impregnanting male prisoners, that just sounds very odd but if it works, maybe one day it can be a step close to transering fetus into someone else.
The worse part would be giving birth (i'm guessing) but the men wouldn't be able to that without C-section.

I just don't like the idea of them toying with people/human lives as if it means nothing or actually making it as a punishment (that wouldn't help making pregnant womans lives easier, it just plays into the whole "pro-punisher" stereotype).

(a part of me hopes you're just joking about that).

xd I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

Um, yes, that was most definitely a joke. neutral

As in, if you think pregnancy is so horrible that millions of women would rather risk death by stabbing themselves with coat hangers than carry a pregnancy to term, then you're the one who thinks pregnancy is a punishment.
