The halls were practically deserted as the girl ran down the music section of the school; this was hardly surprising though, seeing as how the classes were over and she shouldn't even have been there to begin with. Sadly, Kepi had forgotten her backpack in class, and had only realised it when she was half way home. Not that this was a problem though! It'd have taken more than such a puny little problem to bring the brunette down from whatever happy cloud she seemed to reside within.

Known as a social butterfly, content to interact with others, Kepi had no problems in school, except perhaps a short attention span. It was probably that which had caused her to forget her backpack in the first place. Humming a tune rather merrily, she skidded the last few meters till the class, and then forced open the doors of the class, "Say love! Oh, love's gonna get'cha down!" she sang, moving into the room with a small jump; her uniform though the usual female one, was littered here and there with accessories that made it rather unique, almost as if a warning that it's owner was chirpy natured.

The fact she'd practically crashed into the room though, kept her from noticing the boy within at first; her voice kept on singing rather merrily. Despite the stupid lyrics to the song, it was obvious the girl had talent, even if she wasn't putting it to... particularly good use at the moment. Skidding to the side of the class room, she grabbed her backpack and then finally paused, her golden eyes falling on the boy. At first, she remain silent, but that didn't seem to last long; she didn't know him, and that meant she needed to rectify that!

Skipping over to the piano where he sat, she leaned to look over his shoulder, "What're you doing here, all alone?"

He liked it best when no one was around, it left the school with a peace and quiet that wasn't there during the usual hustle and bustle of school hours. He could practice alone, in the silence of the empty classroom, just he and his music. There was nothing he liked greater in the world than that, the silence that met him when music notes rang clear and crisp, unbroken by noise from other people or other things. He was always told he was too shut off from the world, but shut off was where he chose to be, because the world was too loud, too fast for his tastes.

He sat calmly upon the piano bench, slender fingers moving deftly over the ivory bars beneath them. His face was a look of pure concentration, as if he had zoned out from the world and the only thing that mattered was the piano and the music that poured out into the air. His uniform was perhaps one of the neater kept of all males in the school, crisp and clean and not one touch out of place. His hair was long enough to fall in front of his eyes, though tucked back behind his ears at the moment save for a few pieces that he didn't even seem to notice in his concentration. Nothing about him seemed unique, everything seemed to go by simple school code - clean cut and perfect. He was fine with it that way, perhaps even preferred it.

It was likely he could have ignored her presence if she had simply walked into the room and left, but no, she had to sing. Not only sing, but sing a tune that jarred so terribly with the music he was playing that he was sure it almost hurt physically to hear it. His fingers stopped playing immediately, pressing hard down upon the keys they had paused upon, but he didn't even turn to look at her. His face remained that same calm, concentrated expression, staring at the keys as if he hoped she would simply leave. Of course, being the nosey soul he felt all people were entitlted to be, she had to poke her nose where it didn't belong.

"I am practicing, obviously," he said, voice soft, but charming despite so. He still didn't turn to look at her, though aware of her presence at his back. His deep, brown-red eyes rolled up to look at her from the corner of his eyes however. "Or I was, at least."

She had been prepared to wave a hand in front of his eyes any moment then; he hadn't even moved since she'd approached! How very odd... usually people got jumpy. Why was he so calm?

In fact, her hand had started to move, stretching out as if to start waving in front of him, but stopped when he turned to face her, "Huh..." it was almost a hum as she blinked her eyes, then seemed to pause and frown, leaning her face in just so; sufficiently that their personal space was only just being bothered but not shamelessly so, "You look so..." what was the word she was looking for?

The word didn't seem to reach her mind though, so instead, she offered him a small smile, reaching out with her hands to place them on his cheeks, pulling slightly, ever so softly on the skin. It didn't hurt, no doubt, but it must've been strange; regardless of how weird it was for a girl to randomly reach out to a boy, she didn't seem all too bothered by the contact. In fact, no sooner had done this; the pull no doubt, in order to 'create' a smile on his features, she mirrored it herself, "There it is!" she told him with a small chirp, like that of a singing bird that hooped around, perched on the window sills, "You do have a smile! You looked so blank," letting go of him finally, her eyes left him to take the room in.

She'd never seen this one around; maybe she'd not noticed? Perhaps he blended himself in well, "Why are you alone?" she'd taken a step back and seemed content with padding around the piano, as if unable to stay still. Indeed like a bird, restless, on the move.

As she leaned in to him with her face, his entire body tensed from perhaps irritation, or maybe from sheer discomfort. He didn't like having his personal space violated, not for anything, and certainly not by a cheery little twit like her. Even if she wasn't too far into his personal space, it was enough - any at all was enough. Her words didn't spark the slightest interest from him at all. He looked so what? Serious? He looked how he always looked, after all, this was his face. He looked like him.

His eyes followed her hands as she reached out with them, brows furrowing in question as to what in the hell she thought she was doing. As she reached up to pull his face into a smile, he grunted lightly in what might be disgust, but was probably just irritation with her, yet again, moving into his personal space. He was about to reach up and physically remove her hands from him when she let them fall away instead, so he simply rubbed lightly at his cheeks where she had been touching them. He didn't particularly liked to be touched without permission. "Everyone has a smile," he said slowly, as if he thought it was perhaps one of the most ridiculous statements in the world, "not everyone chooses to smile, though." What was there to smile about right now? She certainly wasn't doing anything funny.

When she turned away, he thought perhaps that she was going to leave, and simply turned his back on her to look back at the sheet music propped against the piano before him. When he heard her words filter through the concentration he had been beginning to build once more, he let out a patient sigh. "Didn't I just tell you I was here, alone, practicing? I am alone because it is, or was at least, before you came, quiet." He didn't turn to look at her, hoping that if he kept his back to her she'd take the hint and simply leave.

Sadly, his antisocial nature seemed to have little to no effect on her; not even off-put by his words. In fact, if anything, his attitude and voice seemed to be fueling her curiosity; it sparked when he turned away as if dismissing her, "Can I practice with you then?" without waiting for an answer, she moved towards the piano bench again, and sat to the side, "It isn't quiet when you play the piano," she could not seem to understand his need for quiet.

But then again, Kepi liked things when they were happy, cheerful... bouncy. It was odd that she'd even taken interest in the rather emotionless male; in all honesty, she'd been prepared to leave till she'd seen his smile (even if it'd been a forced smile, granted, that she'd created with her hands). There'd been something appealing to the smile, and she found she craved to see the real one; there WAS a real smile underneath that mild glare.

Heck, it wasn't even a glare. He was just... blank.

Kepi wanted to know why. Why would anyone refuse to even move their faces except to express displeasure? It didn't seem to make any sense to her, "Everyone should smile, now and again. It makes life nicer. You have a nice smile... what keeps you from using it?" hints for her to leave? Hints? What were those? Nothing short of him downright telling her to leave was going to make much a difference. Even then, it was probable the girl would refuse to leave. She found him interesting.

He glanced sideways at her as she sat down on the bench, deep brown eyes staring at her from beneath a fringe of hair that had flopped slightly across his face. He didn't bother to move it, as he wasn't playing the piano just yet. "Practice what, your singing?" contrary to what people expected of him, he was very observant. He sat alone, in the back of class, missed by nearly everyone, but he saw them all. He had a sharp mind, and could probably connect most of the musicly inclined to their chosen instruments. "I prefer the quiet, so I can hear my piano better. It stands out when there aren't any other sounds to.. hinder it." He didn't say yes or no to her practicing, although his obvious opinion on silence and other sounds hindering the sound of his music should have been clue enough. He liked to play alone.

"Why should I smile?" he shrugged, his face still blank as he picked up a pen to make a few notes on the side of the paper in front of him. "I don't see anything amusing right now to smile at." He didn't smile because he didn't have a reason to smile. It was the same reason he chose not to show the other dozens of emotions he could have been showing her right then. Right now, he was slightly annoyed, and thus showed that with a very vague frown. Otherwise, he was simply content, neutral, and thus his expression was blank. Smiling for the sake of smiling was a waste of time, and he didn't particularly feel like being fake right now.

Amusingly enough, the girl didn't seem all that surprised that he'd noticed she was into singing, "Yeah!" the chirp that greeted him seemed to indicate she was rather pleased regardless. The fact she was more than slightly scatter-brained didn't mean she thought those around her were so too, "It's nice to sing along with the music; music's nice on it's own, but the words compliment it, more often than not," he'd not said yes or no, but it was obvious she insisted on the 'yes', without a doubt.

There wasn't even a need for her to ask what he was going to play; after all, Kepi found great pleasure in making up lyrics for music. Interestingly enough, despite her... performance when she'd entered the room, she wasn't all that bad at creativity; then again, that was hardly surprising. The girl seemed to live with her head in the clouds. It was only natural to have a large imagination thus, "I won't hinder it," and this said, she leaned herself slightly so she was practically reclining her back against his side.

"Hmm... it's not a matter of if something's amusing or not," a pause as she turned to look over her shoulder at him, "Don't you ever smile?" it was an honest to god question, but she didn't seem to expect an answer. Instead she shrugged and waited for the music.
