They showed a Half Life game cover for the ps2. Is that right?! I thought it was just on the pc.
I don't think much of this list. I haven't played a single one of those games so I can't voice an opinion.
although...my fav fps is still project snowblind....

The top two bothered me, Halo I think should have been on the list, but not higher than Half Life 2 and Call of Duty 4.
Also, Goldeneye? Seriously?

Okay, I never played Quake, Duke, Doom, Counter Strike, or Wolfenstein (also never played a PC shooter before the Orange Box), so I won't argue with those. I DO, however, believe that Halo 2, Call of Duty 4, Goldeneye, , Half-Life 2, and Bioshock should be on the list, with Star Wars Battlefront at least getting an honorable mention (unless that was an adaptation of another game, in which case the original should get the props.
Okay, so here is my reasoning on the games that SHOULD be on such a list:
Halo 2 -- While Halo had a lot, I believe that Halo 2 should be the standard of online play/online matchmaking. For multiplayer, Halo 2 had a better health system, and every power weapon had some sort of drawback so that not a single player could be invincible (unless they're noob hunting, in which case I smother them in their sleep).
Call of duty 4 -- The story was incredible, which is something that it had over Halo 2 & 3, but then the multiplayer made the game a permanent establishment in a gaming collection. It's been said before, so this is where I'll leave off.
Half-Life 2 -- One of the few recent FPS's I've played that does health in a single player. This works best for any campaign, making it more immersing. The story was great, and the weapons were good, too. Occasionally the puzzles got a bit too physics-heavy, but it was everything else that counts.
Bioshock -- okay, anyone who knows me knows that I really didn't care for Bioshock. Why, then, is it on my list? Bioshock was near-perfection on the single-player FPS scene. It had the puzzles and weapons, but then it basically gave you magic to use on your other hand. It wasn't really a game for me, but Bioshock did everything right, and I would only fear that a multiplayer would detract from what the single-player mode does best.
Goldeneye -- finally. Despite popular belief, it was THIS game (not Halo) that put the FPS on consoles. Not the first, but definitely the best. Given the time, Goldeneye had everything, and is single-handedly responsible for paving the road for Halo, Gears, and Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Star Wars, Battlefront...you get the idea. PC gamers are generally supremacists when it comes to their precious shooters, and without Goldeneye, the FPS would likely not be popular without a mouse.
EDIT: Star Wars Battlefront 2 -- I think this game did two things well--battlefield and classes. The battlefield gave the team two possibilities for victory. Thus, a team with the strongest players wouldn't necessarily win if the other team could steal CPs, or if the CPs were hard to take, you could always win by depleting reinforcements. It made sense, and I particularly like the idea of limiting respawns to make it more realistic. As for classes, each was in depth, and it was the first I ever saw (part of the reason why another game might deserve this spot). They were balanced, and there were plenty to choose from.
TO SUMMARIZE, I think the list is close for including the games I have played, but should definitely have moved everything around.
