Note: I am NOT trying to brag. I'm just very confused, and would like to know what I did to suddenly transform into an aggro magnet.
Usually people go from last gradually to first. I got ONE upgrade, and suddenly I'm ALWAYS first, and it wasn't even that much of an upgrade. I got the Shroud of the Lore'nial, a good piece but not a major upgrade, especially since I was using the Gladiator's Silk Raiment gemmed for increased spell damage. I think the total extra +damage gained from upgrading to the shroud was like...... ten?
I was consistently behind the tank in terms of damage, now I'm suddenly first. I don't think I like this..... even with Burning Soul, I'm next on the kill list if the tank goes down.... before if the tank went down I had enough time to hit invisibility before things got to me......

Respec/cast sequence change/use of macros/curse of elements/misery/lack or addition of salv/other people fall asleep at their keyboards now?
The Shroud of the Lore'nial also contains a chunk of +hit, which is a higher dps increase per itemization point than raw spell damage if you're not capped.

Well...like others have said, it could be any number of things! And aren't the dps supposed to do more damage than the tank? o_o The tank's just there to keep the mobs attracted to him. I think you're having a problem with your threat...and where I come from those are totally different things to worry about.
Also, like someone said, request salvation from a paladin in the group if one is available...and make sure your threat meter is working. I know omen has been a b***h lately. And if you...perhaps now out gear your tank, maybe watch where his threat is before joining in the merriment of slaughter?
The only time threat is a problem is when the tank has a 14k threat lead to you and you manage to catch up. ¬.¬ And then the a** blames you because somehow you were magically storing threat in your pocket and saving it until the very end just so you could ******** up the opera event and have to do it all over again....not that I'm getting specific...
Anyway, not a big deal! Just means you're progressing and the other idiots need to catch up with you! ;D

One of our hunters once asked in guild chat what he should name his pet, like so many other hunters are apt to do. Feeling a little silly, I told him to name it Halfabee after my shadowpriest, which is my main. Next time we were raiding, he brought his new pet along, and the damage meters were ********. The hunter didn't get his extra dps from his pet, and it counted all the dmg from the pet to be my dmg. Needless to say I was pretty ******** high on the meters, and couldn't figure out why for the longest time.
Besides a chance that one of your stats might have gotten capped out or because of the mathematical formulas that are involved, a small increase in stats can mean a huge upgrade in dmg. Your dmg meter could be wrong, or a patch may have changed the way your class works slightly.

Offer up in guild to see if it works. 200g to name a pet after my lock and see what happens. smile Actually, any number of things can happen to you. It depends on how you're playing and how nice the upgrade was for ya.

Kayariy But I never get the buff on me when I'm in a group... everyone else does but I don't..... is that just Blizzard's mistake? It's passive for you, like gun specialization or diplomacy.

It's passive for you, like gun specialization or diplomacy. You still have to make the check on those. Even if you're not in a stressful situation, you still have to declare you take a 10 or 20 if possible.
