What is your favorite Rpg maker? Sorry if this is in the wrong section...

I like 2000 and Xp the best. 2000 is cool because I'm really good with it and I know how to customize a lot of stuff and I can use it pretty good...but I like the graphics, sounds, music, feeling, etc. of XP.

My favorite is XP. I know how to use it best, and it was the first one I started using. smile There are also a lot of good resources for it (the same could be said for 2k3 as well though), as well as scripts.

Of the three PC ones that I've used, I would have to say XP, since it's the only one with an English translation that makes perfect sense, since it's official. Then there's the more detailed graphics. And the scripts, even though you need at least some knowledge in order to use most of them, are a huge freaking plus. There's really nothing that the other RPG Makers can do that it can't thanks to scripts. And the scripts really enable you to make the game how you want.

I would have said 2K, since it was really super easy to use, and it has a few thousand tons of resources available for it. Most of them you don't even have to look for. You'd find them in the wierdest places. xd
But it was just too limited in terms of the battle system, and CBS and CMS just took way too long to make with events, and most were sub-par at best. And there was no class system.

I probably wouldn't have chosen 2K3 though. Even though it had an awesome sideview battle system, it could be really hard to find a matching battler for most sprites, since a lot of them were made pre-2K3, or for 2K. This isn't as bad when you're doing a game from scratch in it, but it was a major hurdle for anyone converting an 2K project. But even from scratch, if you found the perfect sprite for a character, the chances of finding a battler to go with it was pretty low. Pretty much the only good thing about it was it's class system.

RMVX is probably my favorite. I like the general style of it all. RMXP is second up, as it allows for a far more serious and thick atmosphere.
I'm far more aquainted with RMXP, but i'm a classical person.

My favorite is rpg maker 2. I know it was on a console but it was so easy to use and the character models were so goofy looking.

I would have to go with vx. It seems to have more functions and i think it's easier to use. however the graphics could be better. I like the random dungeon generator function and the easy door and chest creation function.

2k3 and xp for me.

2k is far too old for my taste and I dislike vx's style.

No one ever used 95?

I tried RPG Maker 2 but it was to complicated at the time for me, and my dog ate my book and I didn't have internet then. VX has become my fav though I haven't actually used any of the others.

I agree with you 100% XP gives you the most freedom, so you don't have to reuse graphics and sounds like crazy. I really like that.

and I love your sig by the way.

I'm patial to 2K3 and VX myself. I think 2k3 has the best built in battle system, though it is possible to get a side view on other versions of RPG maker you'd have to use scripts and such. I also like the classic looking graphics of it. Reminds me of gameboy and it makes me super happy haha. I also like VX because it's really easy to use and get a handle on. I think you could make a whole game with vx (using stock stuff of course) in around 5 hours.
