Blue eyes glared at the reflection in the still pool of water. The snowy pelt, markingless as anything, glared back. With a roar, the white lioness reached over and smacked the pool of water, distorting the image. But even as the water danced, she could see how markingless she was.
Self-concious, Savitri had noticed early on that her sisters had markings, the gloves of their father. Their mother had markings, too, but from where Savitri knew not. Even the simplest of slaves had markings to distinguish them. And she.. Had nothing. Anything would do, as long as it covered some part of her.

The roar made the hare look up, curious as to what was going on. A glance, and she knew the family of lions slept, not noticing the other near by. Carefully extracting herself, Darshana went to investigate. Whoever it was, they sounded aggitated, displeased with themselves. What she saw was a lioness as white as snow. Or near lioness... Jumping on a log, she flicked her ears. "Hey... What's wrong?"

Stopping in her pacing, Savitri looked over. She'd never seen a hare before... Going over, she sniffed at it, before nudging with a white paw. "What do you want?" She circled, licking at her lips. Food WOULD be good about now... And the blood would at least put some color to the hideous white pelt.

Turning to keep an eye on the lion, the green hare shrugged. "I heard you roaring, and came to see what was wrong. But, I see nothing wrong here, just an agitated lion." She shifted, turning her body to keep up. The way she was looking at her... It was unnerving.

Savitri stopped circling, ears pinning back as her eye twitched. "Nothing wrong? You say there's nothing WRONG?" She put her paws on the rock, getting right in the hare's face. "There is PLENTY wrong! LOOK at me!" She sat back, then turned around to show what she meant. "I have NO markings! I'm CURSED, that's what's wrong!"

Watching, Darshana tilted her head. "I have no markings, Jareth has no markings... We have nothing wrong with US..." She tilted her head the other way. "I really don't see anything wrong with that. I think it's quite nice looking, actually! It's just a canvas waiting to be painted on!" She smiled, eyes dancing with the idea.

If anything could put a halt to Savitri's thoughts, that did it. "Painted on...?" She moved closer, regarding the hare. "What do you mean by that? What, take the blood of my enemies and smear it on my fur?" She sat down, processing such an idea, before smiling. "Yes, then I'll be red... Then I can have a red pelt like my parents and most of my sisters!"

"No, then your fur would be BROWN. If you want red, you need something like berries. What I mean is, tattoos. There's lots of lions with them. Reds, golds, greens, blacks, oranges, pinks... Any color is possible!" She settled back, seeing the lioness' mind going. She could also see, there were some very deep-running issues. There were problems in this cat's head, and she certainly hoped some paint would help.

Savitri started to laugh, either from the idea of tattooing, or from the insanity brought on by her constant self-belittling. When she finally stopped, she pulled the hare into a hug, licked her, then, dropping her, started to walk off. "I think I'll go find me some tattoos. Who knows, maybe Finar-si will bless me and make them permanent!" Somewhere in her mind, though, she knew that wouldn't happen. With another laugh, she took off, a ghost running in the night.

Shuddering, Darshana could only watch as the lioness ran off. Yes, VERY deep issues... Jumping off the rock, she started to head back for the group. With a pause, she glanced back, wondering... Would she get over her issues? She could only sigh and keep walking. Red eyes watched her from the cluster of sleeping cats, and she mumbled some excuse to the wing-marked lioness before curling back up against her to go back to sleep. She'd see that lioness again, she knew she would. After all, she could recognise one of Bodaway's children.
