A young golden juvenile bound through the tall grass, he was traveling towards the biggest rock structure he knew. It just looked powerful and he had been eager to explore it for a while. When he found out that his grandmother's den was close, he felt secure enough to head towards the pride rock alone. It wasn't clear if he would get in trouble or not, but if grandma lived so close, it can't be bad to climb around for a little, right?
If he did get in trouble, grandma would get him out and he could get home before his mother found out, he hoped. Always on the lookout, the bounding lion cub hoped to see his friends or make new ones on his way towards his goal. Laughing a little, he was high energy with the crackling excitement that new exploring meant.
The golden sun had risen only a few hours ago, so it was nowhere near high enough to be uncomfortable. The day felt perfect, reflected the stripped one.

With her belly slightly lowered to the ground, Tiamat was stalking after her prey. She had been following behind it for some time, a good enough distance away to where she didn't think she'd get caught and still close enough to where she could keep an eye on it. Her tail flicked impatiently before she noticed the direction of where her prey was heading. Pride's rock. Only having been to the place once, it still looked large and imposing to the juvenile.
As she turned her attention from the rock back towards her prey, she continued to stalk closer to Dakarai, as she wanted to pounce on him as a surprise.

Completely clueless that he had become the prey to a very cleaver huntress, Dakarai kept on his mission. Slowing down when he had gotten to where the shadow of the large rock structure hit him, he looked up and marveled. Gulping a little as he got closer, the young cub worked to keep his courage up as he moved forward.
In his mind, he had it all planned out. He would climb all the way to the top and stand on the edge, like a king! Grinning at the thought, he stopped bounding and tried a 'majestic' walk to the rock that lead up to the big one. Head held so high he couldn't see too well, paws stepping high, and tail held out, the pretending to be important cup walked on delighting in his game.

As Dakarai walked up to Pride's rock, Tiamat kept him in her sight. The tip of her tail flickered at the thought of surprising him. It made her smile with delight, she could just picture it in her mind. Now, all she had to do was put it all to action.
Once Dakarai started walking with his head held high, she couldn't help but to stifle a giggle. This was a great show and she was glad to be witnessing this. But, back to her mission. She rounded around Dakarai so that she was hiding behind a small rock and his back was to him. She held her breath and counted to three. One....Two....Three! She leapt forward after Dakarai, hoping that her aim was as good as she planned it to be.

Knowing nothing of his stalker, or that he was entertaining her unwittingly, he continued on his happy way. Already his imagination had started off completely as he buried himself in the world he was creating. The cheering, happy faces, everyone there to see him, not a vainful cub, he was just having fun; really he was sure he'd be hiding off somewhere. However, here in his world, nothing could harm him..flying hyena attack! With a cry of alarm, Dakarai was caught completely off guard by the pounce and had assumed it hyena because it fit with his image.
Flailing, he growled, trying to be tough until he discovered it wasn't a hyena, but his friend Tiamat! Surprise and fear turned into a smile and a challenge as he playfully batted at her, no claws, to attempt to turn this around.

As she landed successfully on her target, Tiamat called out, "I got ya!" Her tail flicked behind her happily as he batted back at her. She batted back at him for a little while before she rolled off, slightly heaving at her work.
With a smile on her maw, she stood up and shook herself off. She was curious, her head tilted, "What are you doing up here, Dakarai?"

He fought valiantly, but in the end, only got back up when she let him. Shaking off his coat, he not so subtly used a paw to 'fix' his mane a bit. Hearing her question, he hoped she wouldn't find it funny when he answered. "I wanted to go up and explore pride rock more, see what it was like to look over the edge." Looking back up to the spot he wanted to go to, he stared a few moments before looking back to Tiamat to see what she thought of his plan.
Liking to climb and explore, he remembered his spot that his father took him to not too long ago. Very unwilling to go into the rogue lands, much less to bring a friend into danger, he was going to go there. However, there was still stuff to explore around here. Even more so when you use your mind, like he was with pride rock.

She heard his response and smiled. It's something she's always thought about as well, what it would be like at the edge and looking out over the horizon. Naga would be too scared to come up here, so to have this chance with Dakarai made her excited. She walked over to Dakarai, "I bet it's an amazing view!"
She took a few steps forward before turning back to glance at him, "Come on! Let's see the view together!" There were many things they could do here, cubs and juveniles had an overactive imagination.

Fully perked up, he waved the tip of his tail slowly in excitement; she wanted to go as well! Perhaps too excited for his own good, he had stayed still when she started to walk. Like a kick, he jumped forward from a standing position and quickly caught up with Tiamat, "Yeah, lets see that view!" It wasn't just for the royals, he believed, and again, he knew if there was trouble, he and Tiamat could go and hide out with his grandma.
Letting her know she existed, he stated, "My grandma's den is near here too, but I never climbed up to the top of Pride rock before, its so cool. Just think, King Mufsa and all the other kings, queens and royals came up this very way before!" Looking down at the ground at that thought, he imagined stepping in the same place the princes of the past stepped as they came up pride rock to look over the edge or to sleep in their den.
Before he had been imagining himself king, now Tiamat could be the queen! She'd make a good one he thought, no one would mess with her for fear of her pouncing wrath! Certainly, he wouldn't unless it was to play, in which case, it was on! Quick to want to dart up to the top, he forced himself to stay aside Tiamat.

With a smile, Tiamat was pleasantly surprised. Dakarai had a grandmother who's den was here? That was very neat! "Oh really? My grandma's den is very close to mine, we see her all the time!"
And then, she let a playful grin spread across her face as she puffed out her chest and raised her head high. She tried her best to look all "queenly" for Dakarai. If Dakarai wanted to act "kingly" earlier, then should could do it too! They were walking up Pride's rock afterall, where all the royals are! She turned her head to Dakarai to stick out her tongue in jest, "I'll see it before you!" And with that, she dashed forward towards the edge where they could see all of Pridelands before them.

That was the down side; it was harder to see his grandmother when she lived farther away, "Mine comes to visit a lot, mainly to see my Momma and sister." He didn't feel close to his grandmother, but liked her all the same, it was his father he wasn't a fan of and Grandpa wasn't even a word he was aware existed.
Delighted she was playing along; he resumed his 'kingly' walk, to keep up with her very queenly one. It was easy to pretend they were king and queen, though in his world they didn't grow, he just had a mane. The lions and lionesses of the pride lands were all around, to cheer and share stories. No hardships existed in the faces he saw, somewhere real others were put there to make everything full, his father was absent and his mother looked even happier. All was well on pride rock for the King and Queen.
That was until he was challenged by said queen. The mental picture faded completely and he grinned in return, "Oh, no you won't!" Running after her, he strived to be the first there, although she had cheated and thought of it before he could. Seconds behind her, he had to put on the breaks real quick before he went tumbling over the edge, not a good way to end the adventure.
Breathing a little hard, his claws out and holding firmly to the edge, he looked over the kingdom. "Whoa," came his expression of awe, he could see everything from here! All the prey beasts, his Momma's den, the watering hole, everything was there, and he was taking it in happily.

As the green juvenile reached the edge of Pride's rock a few seconds before Dakarai, Tiamat skidded to a stop as to not fall off the edge. That would not be a good thing, what would her parents think! As she stood up and glanced next to her, she saw Dakarai was right next to her but his attention was out at the view before them.
Just as she was about to say something to Dakarai, her breath was taken away by the view. It was just spectacular, nothing like she had ever imagined. She could see out as far as the horizon stretched. With wide eyes, "Wow! Look at the view!"
She squinted her eyes a bit, searching for her family's den. It took a little while before she spotted the familiar tree that stood outside of the den. With a side smile, she looked over to Dakarai before nudging him gently. Her paw was raised slightly and pointed off in the distance to her left, "Just over there, near the lone tree is where my den in. My grandma's den is not too far from it."

He had half an ear on Tiamat as he gazed at his home; it was great to hear she liked the view as well. This was nicer than he expected so much to see! This was somewhere he could stay and look for hours. What it must look like at sun rise, he thought.
At the nudge, he looked to his companion and followed the lion from her paw. Taking in where her den was, he commented, "Thats not really all that far from mine." Nothing seemed that far from this vantage point, but he used his left paw to point out an area to the right of her den closer to the watering hole. One black claw came out to further point out the area, "Thats my den." Following the ground with his eyes, he went over the trek he and his father made and figured where the ruins were. Nudging his nose towards the rogue lands, he said with a smile, "Those are the rogue lands, but there is something really cool hidden out there." Later, it would be fun to take her there; though staying longer than a few hours was unbearable for him to think of.
Growing up, it was easier to be a bit away from his mother, though even no he looked to his den constantly. It was too hard to think of leaving the pride willingly, even for just a little bit of time. Pulling his mind from it, he noticed no one seemed to mind they were there, else they didn't notice two cubs, wait no, a king and queen, sitting on the very spot of Pride rock.

When Dakarai nudged her and pointed out his own den, Tiamat felt her face lit up. Oh, his den wasn't that far from hers afterall! Just imagine all the fun she could have, going over and waking him or doing a sneak-attack. The ideas were endless as she tried to memorize the direction and everything that would try and help her find it later on. "You are pretty close to our den!"
And then, at the mention of roguelands, she remembered hearing stories about when her father would veture off into them as a cub. He was a wild thing, taking after her grandma. "I am sure there is. My dad used to venture out there all the time as a cub, to annoy my grandma." She giggled, "He also met my mom out there."

The trouble he showed to his den didn't occur to him, he was more impressed with how it would be easy to go visit his friends, then ideas of sneak attacks. He too looked for ways to know he was going the right direction, would be silly to go to visit and end up on the other end of the pridelands or something.
Talking about the outlands, he listened to her story before adding in his own family history from what he had been told, "My grandma always lived in the pridelands, though did go wondering a bit, which is why my Momma came from the Roguelands. My father lives out there." The last part was said with an edge of relief. His father had done nothing to him but be nice, even showed him those neat ruins. However, he still didn't like him, the farther the black and white lion was, the better as far as he was concerned.
