When Teppy came across the rock, she knew she just had to climb it. The challenge practically called to the little filly, and with the sound of small scraping hooves she skittered up the boulder. She looked down from the height with no fear, grinning like a madcreature. It was sooo high! She imagined she could see for miles, when she was actually only about five feet up.

But now that she was up there, how would she get down? There wasn't a clear path and she couldn't remember where the footholds she used to get up were. She stared at the rocky surface but she didn't see anything. She tapped a front hoof and began to think.

What if she jumped? It wasn't that high. She may have been agoraphobic, but she was not afraid of heights. It would be like flying, as if she had the bird or flutter wings like a few of her friends. Teppy had always wondered what it was like to fly. Why not try now?

Teppy tensed and prepared to jump, taking a deep breath.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

As far as tones go, his wasn't the nicest. It wasn't necessarily nasty, but it was more like black licorice than chocolate- almost sweet, with a little bit of self-righteousness and attitude laced inside. Eyre had spotted the big rock and the little filly before she'd clambered on top of it from his napping place beneath the bows of a nearby tree. He'd watched with a slightly bemused expression as she'd forced her way onto it, and than heaved himself off the ground in order to inform her of her soon-to-be grave mistake.

"Don't jump. You'll break a leg or something."

He wasn't worried, exactly. Okay- maybe he was a little bit concerned, but not for her. Eyre wanted to save himself from the pain of seeing broken limbs.

Looking down, Teppy saw a paler shade of green against the grassy backdrop. Startled by the sudden words her back limbs had slipped and almost dragged her down with them. Now she stood on the edge of the rock somewhat awkwardly, one hoof lifted from it.

"You think so?" Teppy asked, eying the ground now in a different way. If she was to land wrong, who knows what kind of shape her poor leg would be in...

"But wouldn't it feel like flying? Sailing through the air like that?" She wondered, not really talking to Eyre but still addressing him. "The grass looks soft enough." Still, she hesitated, and her gaze flicked behind her to see if there had been a path down she had missed.

"You can try it if you want to," Eyre shrugged casually. She did make a little bit of sense, after all. He supposed that it would feel like flying, for a couple of brief moments- before her hooves reconnected with the ground in front of them.

"I wouldn't, of course, but that doesn't mean you don't have to. I'm not the boss of you."

The foal tossed his head to the side, in order to get his hair out of his eyes, and took a couple of careful steps backwards. He could see apprehension in her movements now. That was good. Maybe, now, she'd think before she did something stupid.

"You're right," he shifted his weight and tested the soil beneath his own feet curiously, "it is pretty soft."

Teppy's brow wrinkled with concentration. "Yeah, okay. You're not helping me decide at all," she pointed out, throwing her head back to move her bangs to see more clearly what was in front of her. She took a few steps back and eyed the rock, picking out the best place from where to jump. "I will jump," she said to boost her own confidence, and with her head held high she prepared to jump.

"One..." She started towards the edge. "Two..." her pace quickened. "Three!" Teppy launched herself from the walk with a great heave of her back legs. She lingered in the air for a split second of weightlessness. Teppy imagined that she was unfurling her wings to gain lift with swift, strong strokes. Then she landed in the grass with a small stumble.

She blinked her eyes and realized that she was standing on solid earth once again. Giddy, the filly pranced towards Eyre, kicking up her back legs behind her. "That was fun!" She came to a complete stop in front of Eyre, and grinned at him. "You should try it."

"I'm not here to help you decide anything," he pointed out, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which is was. Eyre understood that he was in charge of nobody other than himself, and that suited him just fine. As long as they didn't get in his way. He was immune to orders and suggestions. Regardless of whether or not it was good for him, the foal usually did what he liked, whenever he liked. Advice was very seldom heeded.

He listened and watched, eyes wide with expectation, as she counted and prepared herself for the jump. He was no longer concerned about her breaking a leg. If that happened, it was her own fault, and he was quite certain that he could deal with the site of blood. He'd done all that he could to keep her from this possibly disastrous act.

Then, she was in the air and he was holding his breath. It wasn't too high, but it was high enough that she could get seriously hurt. When she landed, as gracefully as she could manage, Eyre resisted the urge to cheer.

"What if I get hurt?" he gaped at her suggestion, eyes wide with disbelief. It was one thing to watch while she endangered herself. It was another entirely different matter for him to try it. Eyre refused to give in to peer pressure.

...it did look like fun, though.

Teppy grinned. It was so exciting to feel weightless... if he wouldn't join in, she would go up there again by herself. But it was always more fun if she had a companion to play with. "I didn't get hurt at all. I feel great!" she pranced in a circle just to show that she was indeed unscathed. "The grass is pretty soft too, so landing's not bad."

Then she trotted back towards the rock, and looked back at him. "C'mon, try it!" The tri-coloured filly motioned with her muzzle up the rock.

If she'd made it into a game or challenged him to some kind of jumping competition, Eyre wouldn't have been able to refuse. As it was, however, he wasn't about to risk his neck for the sake of something as silly as fun. Still, a part of him was tempted to clamber onto that rock and leap off of it- just to show her that he could do it way better.

The colt considered his options carefully for a moment and then turned a pair of yellow-green eyes on the filly that pranced around him.

"Why should I?" His tone wasn't aggressive or rude. At the most, he sounded simply unsure.

Her cyan eyes twinkled as Teppy gave him a smug grin. "Oh come on, don't tell me you're scared! Aren't colts supposed to be braver than fillies?" she teased, swishing her tail this way and that. Then she rolled her eyes and sighed, exaggerating the whole time. "If you need help up I'll give you a push." She backed up and tapped a back hoof on the boulder. "It's not like it will crumble underneath you."
