Until battle comes out, do any of you want to try out roleplaying spars between us, or even death matches (well, our characters don't allow much for anything less than a death match, we can RP that we are all in a dimension where we respawn exactly as we were before our final battle and defeat or something.).
It could be fun, and it would get us to work together, since RPing battles are either regulated by a referee, dice, or, like in the better RPs, by the RPers that are in the battle.
No epic god mod wars, you can be super powerful, but keep to your race and class, strengths and weaknesses.
So... What do you think? Too lame? Never going to work? Should it be here or in the thread (like to bump it up)?

I dont see why not.
Maybe just friendly spars, not complete death matches.
I think we need a subforum for this type of thing though.

Full out war against each other in the main thread might be... interesting.
The problem with sparring is that none of us are hear just for friendly battles, we are in this clan because we want to pwn a**.

Eh, I don't RP. If I'm going to invent a character and write about them, I may as well make a novel or short story (which I've been known to do.)

That's what RPing is. Except you write that story with someone else, so it's two or more first-person-point-of-views in one story.

If you need dice to forum RP then you suck at forum RPing, you or the other people.
A half decent RPer can battle without restraints, without being an a**.
Any newbie RPer can do it with a bit of OOC assistance and communication. (and the occasional re-do)

~Metalic_Noodles Except 1. You can't sell it. 2. No one wants to read it. 3. Someone else interferes with your creative process.

That is a big problem with roleplaying, even people that are almost completely compatable have different views of what they want to write, and usually everyone doesnt want their characters dieing off unless they themselves let it happen. At least thats what ive learned in most role plays I've seen xp

Most RPs start on a common topic and go from there, maybe even a plot to start out with. If someone doesn't like the plot, or setting, or theme, then they don't start.
It's rare in books for a main character to die anyway. Plenty of death goes around for minor character too you know. In larger RPs many people have a few characters for their own sub plots, often for the purpose of killing each other.
Besides, eventually one of group will want to stop, or loose interest, and beautifully write out a death of their character. I've seen some amazing death posts, huge, but well written.
1. I thought the internet was about free exchange of anything. 2. Actually, if it's not a free-for-all, often times lurkers, people wanting to learn to RP, get better at RP or that want to read something entertaining when snowed in, or got tired of shifting though library piles... Not to mention RPs of other sub plots in the same plot. 3. Then find someone who has a style similar to your own, or that understands that you tend to want a specific direction, then use OOC to help steer the RP. With learners I use description, thoughts and wording, as well as slight pushing to the other RPC to guide them, like when quoting fix their post, or work harder on my spelling, formatting, and grammar to encourage them to do the same. Describe more in depth to get them to put more effort into their posts...

~Metalic_Noodles Dont git me wrong, i wasn't saying rping wasn't fun or that it didnt have its good points. If anything it was one of the reasons I first joined gaia and kept me quite interested as I worked my way through the site. its just certain things like character absences, somtimes completly out of others control at times, or mood swinging role play to were you'd think there was a completely different character inbetween posts. I know these problems arn;t a big deal and can be worked around, Im not trying to argue or anything either. Heck an rp to pass the time sounded great when i read the opening post.

lol, when you said mood swings, I realized that playing a bipolar RPC, would be fun. Not that just switched when it was conviniant or to make the story more interesting, but just every x many posts. rofl
Problem is when it turns to seem more like two souls in one body...
