This has been on my mind alot since I began useing Shadow clones to teach the class in Oto. Normaly I do not use them but there was a despeat need for multiple people to handle the class. ANYWHO...I was wondering what shadow clones could do...or any clones for that matter.
If I make a clone with regular ole Bushin no Jutsu, what can he do with out turning into smoke? Can he pick things up? If someone were to through a kunia at a target, could he jump in the way and block it before disapearing, or would he instantly disapear on impact and let the kunia fly toword the target unhindered? What about jutsu? Can he use ninjutsu and genjutsu? can he use a summon from a summon scroll?
What about the different types? I know there are regular bushins, the shadow clones(like naruto's clones), Water clones, and some kinda mud/earth clone. What can they do? Do they get an equal amount of chakra as the user to use jutsu? if so, why dosen't naruto just create hundreds of shadowclones and use rasengan with all of them?

Regular old Bunshin no Jutsu
-> You can make the illusion of him picking things up.
-> The kunai would pass through him, maybe get messed up a bit due to the whole pure chakra thing and all (but very sparsely spaced out chakra) so the blow may be deflected.
-> No they have no chakra source
-> No blood.. XD so no summons
-> They can use physical skills like.. intimidate, and stuff. Common sense is your friend!
Solid clones (earth/water/shadow/sand/etc)
-> Earth/water/sand have the specified fraction of the user's stats.
-> Chakra points do not multiply. Earth/water/sand tap into their creator's chakra source.
For shadow clones..
-> Chakra points are divided up amongst them. Say you have 100 Cp and make 9 clones. Each clone and you have 10 Cp each.

ohh....that makes since. so regular bushins can't really pick things up?

actually, from the way the show made it see, Bunshin no jutsu create clones that do exactly what you do (with VERY minor exceptions such as when kakashi created that line of clones to spook the rough necks in the land of Wave.
Any of the higher level clones can do free movement as you direct thm and make physical contact. Least thats what I always believed.
