When I was younger I would have normal dreams about going to strange places or hanging out with friends but suddenly I would wake up in the middle of it and I would be covered in spider webs or the walls would be crawling with worms. In less than a minuet later it would go away. At this point I'm wide awake and to afraid to go back to sleep. The worst ones where I would wake up punching the walls or screaming at the top of my lungs at shadows on the wall. I got over this eventually but now I've been having some of the same dreams all over. Now I see furniture on the ceiling or squid swimming around my room. It's a bigger problem now than before because I have work and school in the morning and I need to sleep. If anyone has had similar things happen to them or someone is an expert on dreams any advice from you would help.

very weird nightmares....opinion number one would be that you have an overactive imagination. my second opinion which i almost always lean on is that you might have something in your house like an entity. or you might suffer from some mild form of schizophrenia but i doubt it...the best advice i could give you is that you might have to see a therapist to see what they could make of the dreams.

First off I should state this now ... I hate therapists ... want to be one but still hate them I'm not an expert in dreams but I have studied them and thier meanings ... in most cases I have found asMeleny said that they come from vary imaginative people When I was younger I used to have the same form of dreams but for me it was reversed of what you have ... I woke up and saw that I was covered in slime or there were spiders on the walls I've also woken up screaming at the top of my lungs in a room full of people with no one being able to hear a sound What I tried to do at first was not think about the past dreams as I went to sleep ... then I tried watching old T.V. shows like I Love Lucy or things like that - that would make me have funny thoughts as I feel asleep Now however I have learned how to controll my mind ~ meaning have full controll of it while I sleep ... It's very difficult to learn to do and rather exausting while trying but at least in mine and my best friends case (who learned with me) very possible

Try this one, tell yourself before you go to sleep, that what ever happen it is only a dream. I do it and it helps. if i have bad dream i tell my mind, ok i am going to listen to you and try to understand the message, but i know it is only a dream, so don't try to scared me. this works for me. Also avoid scary movies, they wont help you.

~* This sounds all too familiar. DX My dreams have been over the roof since I moved abroad... a lot of them include old mates from where I used to live or the scenes set in one of my old schools. Other dreams are just completely random but I still hate them.
I wish I still spoke to my MSN friend... he was a practicing physcologist and at one point helped me loads with this problem. Together we figured out what they could mean and for about a week I slept peacefully (no dreams).
Since I'm the only female sibling I have my own room... but thats never been a good thing for me. I get so paranoid something will jump out at me or I'll look out the window and see some physco. ><' Mostly its a fear of unworldy things though. I've heard so many tales of beings standing at the foot of your bed and it creeps me out. Absolutely nothing like that has happened in all the years I've feared it but... yeah, I still fear it.
Btw, on a helpful note, I hear dreams occur when in light sleep. They don't happen in the main hours when your deeply asleep. That makes sense to me b'cos everynight I seem to wake up at 06:00am (no alarm or sounds do it... my brain just wakes me up at that time). And from then on I'm in a milder sleep and thats when the dreams happen. Idk... try recording the times when you wake up from a dream and see if theres any corrolation.

Couple of nights ago i had a scary dream. I dreamet that i was in my grandmother house, she died so this was scary. I kept asking myself (in the dream) could this be real? Is this really how her house looks, and i couldn't remember, but i think asking this qeustions and showing my mind he can't fool me, really help, cuz i woke up. I didn't want to have the same dream again, so i ask myself, (when i woke up) how can i change my life so the dream won't come back? I did the change, and the dream didn't came back.

About the can't move part. When we are dreaming our spirt go to take a hike, so sometimes when we have really scary dream we try to wake up but the spirit still traveling. so next time your body is awake but your spirit isn't in the mood to go back, just call her, without getting stress about it, she will come back.

This kindof sounds like a medical issue, if you get this that often... Maybe its something that can be helped. I know that my mother often used to have bad dreams --which caused lack of sleep-- it sounds alot like what you have here. She talked to a doctor about it and they said she needed stress pills and what not..
But the parylesis thing, that is something physical that happens after a nightmare, last I've heard. Its when you wake up from a particularily scary dream, your body is pumping itself full of adrenaline. You just need time to wear it off, don't really try to do anything, just do your best to relax.
That's all I could really help, hope it works

Sophistacated ~ the fear of something happining is what gives most people nightmares
Shaini ~ that is good advice ~ when you use your mind agianst the images your mind creates you tend to wake up from all the energy that you use
Meleny ~ I've never had it last that long before ~ but that may be because I do a combination of what Shani said about calling your spirit back and what camilla said about relaxing
But like I said I have learned some controll over my mind so I rearly have nightmares anymore ~ unless I need to have them ~ I belive that some things can be revieled to you like a premenation while you sleep ... but you have to be in a truly peacefull sleep to accomplish this ~ which is why it doesn't happen all that often to me anymore

and that explains why i have nightmares. i have no control over my mind or emotions. you guys probably figured out by now that im a bit moody, or emotionally unstable. my emotions change extremely quick. it only takes a couple of seconds. and when i go to sleep i don't go to sleep happy usually in the process of falling asleep im dwelling so yea that might be it. sweatdrop
