Cecelia was scared, not that she’d ever admit it out loud. Standing alone among the racks of colorful clothes in the department store, she wondered what she was gonna do. Her mother was no where in sight, and the store was a big place.
Would mommy leave her? What would she do if she couldn’t find her mother again? Would she have to sleep in the racks of clothes? What would she eat?
Finally, she deiced to stop worrying and start looking for her mother, and in the meantime she’d explore the store.

"No, the plastic things are for um..." Polly said when her father asked, frowning as she tried to remember. "For making the clothes hang down!" she said. "Not to use as a fishing hook!"
"They wouldn't be much use, anyway," Tock said, eyeing the clotheshanger he had "Appropriated" with a snort. "Look, not even a sharp end."
"Pretty pathetic if you ask me, Cap'n," Jake agreed. Once again he had the pirate brat clinging to him like a monkey as they walked through this strange place full of brand new clothes. He didn't like it, if you asked him. Clothes were best if they were stolen! Thats how they had always done it in the past.
Then he realized, maybe they could steal these clothes!
"Dis is borinnnngg," Austin complained from Jake's shoulder. "Le's go back to the store with the bouncy things."

"This -is- boring," Kaeden chimed from the ground. Chloe wasn't going to allow him to climb all over her, so he was walking and not really having the best of views.
"Tock, you can't take things without paying for them," Ze'zee said, unknowingly telling Jake that his idea was bad.
"They're clothes hangers," Rory told them. "And Polly needs new clothes!"
Kaeden, being on ground level and looking around, spotted the little blonde girl and stopped walking. Another girl. ""Ello."

Cecelia stared at the motley crew, eyes wide. She’d never seen such an unusual group of people in her short life. She was fascinated by people, especially new and bizarre people; and these seemed to fit perfectly into both categories.
“Hello.” She said shyly to the one who’d spoken to her. “What are you doing?” She asked, observing the groups strange behaviors.

Austin, attracted by Kaeden's getting distracted, turned and looked at the girl, forcing Jake to turn as well. "We're bein' bored," Austin told her bluntly.
"We're not bein' bored, we're shopping," Polly told him. "Shopping is important!" Because it was something SHE knew about and HE didn't! That made everything important!
Tock looked over then, curiously. Kids just seemed to appear out of nowhere in this place.

"And shopping is fun!" Rory added. Then smiled to Cece. "I'm Rory. This is Polly, Tock, Kaeden, Jake, Austin, Chloe and my mama, Ze'zee," she went through the whole list of people, pointing them out. Then her attention went back on Cece as the other girls' parent wasn't around. That was curious. "Whatcha doing?"
Ze'zee was also concerned about this, and she looked around around for someone else.
"Shopping isn't important. It's boring!" Kaeden said, glaring at Polly.

Cece bit her lip. Should she tell them she was lost and looking for her mama?
“I’m. . . I’m exploring!” She mostly lied, she was exploring the large department store, but her motivation was the find her missing parent. “I’m looking for something important.”
She shuffled her feet and grinned at the group, hoping they beveled her,

Polly smiled at her. "Wanna come with us?" she asked. "We're exploring too, right Daddy?"
"That's Captain Daddy," Tock said, sighing in irritation. He had given up on NOT being called 'daddy' by this point.
"We don't need another girl," Austin complained. "Girls pick their boogers."
"So do you!" Polly told him darkly, her hands on her hips, her tail twitching behind her.

"Not as much as you!" Kaeden replied. He didn't realize how incriminating that was till after he said it. To late now.
"You can join us, if you want too!" Rory said, backing up what Polly said. She was ignoring the boys. "We're here to get Polly some more clothes. So, another girl to give a good opinion on things would be good!"
Ze didn't say anything to this. If the girl was lost from her parent, they would find the parent as they moved around. Better than leaving her alone in the store.

“Okay!” Cece said cheerfully. With this many people there was no way they’d all miss seeing her mommy, except they didn’t actually know they were looking for her mother. Oh well, her plan wasn’t perfect, but if suited her.
“Why’s Polly need clothes?” She asked, eyeing the orange-feathered girl with interest.

"Cuz I don't have many," Polly said. "We gotta steal all our clothes at home cuz nobody on the pirate ship knows how to sew. An' I got bigger!" she bragged, shoving her thumb at her chest.

"And these," Rory added, pinching the shoulder-cloth, well worn and pretty much thread-bare, so that the other girl could see it better. "Are all she's pretty much has. She needs better and more clothes for where she lives."

Cecelia’s eyes widened. As a lover of clothes, and clothing it was hard to wrap her mind around having only one outfit.
“You need lots of pretty clothes!” She squealed, little-girl voice on high. “Let’s dress you up pretty, like a princess!” She rounded on Rory and Kaeden. “You can be a princess too, and you-“ Pointing at Kaeden. “Have to be nice to princesses! So there!”
