In Asia, there are quite a few animal parks that feed their captive animals live food in front of the public. In one tiger rehabilitation park, the cats are fed a live waterbuffalo in front of tour buses.

In a zoo in China, tourists can actual purchase live ducks and chickens to throw to the tigers. The video below is of the same zoo above feeding the birds, but I've lost the video of another zoo that does the same thing.

No doubt the animals get a good deal of natural enrichment from dining on live animals, but the point that bothers me is that this is being done in front of the viewing public as entertainment.

What your views of this? Should animals being rehabilitated to be released in the wild be fed live animals to mimic natural conditions?

If they're not going to release the animal at some point, then I think it's probably best to not feed them live prey. I mean, a water buffalo? It disturbs me that they're doing this is front of crowds, also. I can understand live prey for enrichment, but... I guess I view it as disrespectful to the animals almost.

I can agree that this is terrible because the chicknes are suffering and have no where to run only to meet there death. Because if you look at it, its greta that they can practise their wild skills but in the wild the prey has a chance of escape and can can run away there is a chance for food and escape but of the live animals and buffalo they have no chance only death from tigers in captivity.

I'd have to say that this method is all wrong. I mean sure the tigers need enrichment, but it should not be done in front a crowd in this manner. There are also other better methods that don't involv useing live animals.

Exactly

When I was in Africa at Christmas the animals are wild and they use there natural instincts such as hunting we saw a lion stalking a wildebeast. But there was an antelope and he saw the lion so they both ran off and lion didn't get dinner.

But still people shouldn't enjoy seeing an animal get killed in captivity that is just sick.

Thats horrible!

First of all: the animal given as food could harm the animal trying to kill it

Second of all: The prey animals have to suffer D:
