This video from the internets of a past season.

Now pay close attention to what Paula says at around 3:00 when she is giving her oppinion on the guys rendition of Innuendo.

Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm starting to sound like the ranting Queen fans on youtube but what she said sort of rubbed me the wrong way because I could of sworn Freddie was too sick to perform anymore when the song was made? burning_eyes

Paula almost never seems to know what she's talking about. She didn't seem able to form complete sentences. Freddie was to sick to sing at that point. Anyways, I disagree with Paula and Simon.

I think Simon mean that for the average American Idol fanatic they don't really listen to all the obscure Queen songs so it would of been better to sign one of the ones you always hear on the radio.

It is kind of a lousy song to sing when you're trying to entertain or impress people. The melody ain't all that catchy, especially when you sing it in a faux-rocker styled voice. Freddie put it in this like Indian style or whatever, and that fit with the music a lot better, and also made it a lot more interesting to listen to. His version made me think of a badly covered Godsmack song.

And who cares about Paula Abdul, she doesn't have the guts to dis anybody 'cause she doesn't want to alienate her old fans. razz

Yeah considering the majority of American Idol fans probably only listen to the Queen songs one would usually hear on the radio it would of made more sense to sing We Are The Champions or something like that.

xD

And I don't care about Paula Abdul really its just that when she dosen't really know what she is talking about she should just not ramble.

Fred's better, but Cris was pretty good, if you don't compare him to Fred-great singer. Roger's head is shaped like a cube.

Paula put her foot in her mouth, and so did Simon and the other guy.

Paula-um....yeah.
Simon-COME ON! How can you dis Innuendo?
and the other guy-"for the past two week,s all we've been hearing are bad songs" -Dude, didn't Brian and Roger do the instrumentals for the songs for the Queen section? way to completely insult them. They probably heard him, and the fact that he called all their songs bad.

I read on Brian May's blog ages ago, when this first happened, that he was fairly ticked off with American Idol...

THIS IS WHY.

Besides, is it just me, or is Paula so out-of-it in a substance-related manner most of the time that she has issues even sitting up straight in her seat?

She has some sort of constant pain problem which requires the pills she is on but if thats the case then she needs to abdocate her spot as a judge. I feel sorry for her but at the same time it would be nice if we she would stop incoherently rambling.

Plus I saw a repeat of an episode from the first season and she was accutally talking coherently. xD

For some reason, I get the uncanny feeling that she didn't entirely mean that comment about the band not performing it...it just seemed kind of false, somehow. Like she was trying to think of something to say and that was the first thing that leapt to mind, so she went ahead and said it. At the same time, though...ick xp . Paula's comment is worthy of no more than an sigh and an eye roll. rolleyes

American Idol is a load of tripe anyway. How do you explain all these absolutely horrible singers getting through just so they can be laughed at on national tv? I'd rather they let more good singers through, because you know for every William Hung 'couldn't carry a tune to save their life' type of singers, there were probably five people who could actually sing well but didn't get ******** stupid.

All the good musicians have retired/died/are on a reunion tour after 20-whatever years-the OLD people. Now, people who like shitty modern music have to make up a tv show to find their idols, instead of just listening to the music of decades past.

Didn't Britain create Pop Idol, the stepping stone for American Idol and all other idol shows around the world?

xD

And two words can describe how American Idol sucks....Davic Archuletta. Proof that its only a popularity contest sponsored by Apple. xD
