Does it bother you, when others try to tell you whats "it" or not??? hmmmm???? twisted

I believe Lolita or Gothic can be whatever you want it to be... many alterations can be made to this particular style. so don't comment... unless you have something nice to say biggrin

It's very nice of you to share your gallery with us, but I'm afraid I don't see much lolita content in the actual images. There are a couple of drawings, but that's really all I see that's actually lolita-related amidst a lot of angle-portraits and fan art.

It might be a good idea for you to also do a bit of reading on what is and isn't lolita in terms of the fashion, since the "My Gothic Lolita" photos I saw of your dress and several of the drawings you have labeled lolita really do not fit within the style. Most would be better classified as just goth or maybe romantic goth or even punk.

A few good resources for beginners can be found here:

The Lolita Handbook - Currently being updated, it has information on the sub-styles as well as the anatomy of a lolita outfit and what separates lolita from other fashions

Lolita Fashion.org - This is a community centered around a forum and informational pages, an offshoot from EGL for experienced lolitas to share their knowledge with beginners in a less intimidating arena. There are essays and tutorials about what makes lolita actually lolita here, as well.

Good luck with your research!
If you have questions, the FAQ is pretty in depth in this guild, and we're always glad to help if you can't find the answer there.

I have to agree with Spuntino.
I'd like to give some more specific criticism, too, in hopes that that helps you with your future art!

Lolita skirts are supposed to be knee length, and quite a few of the skirts in your drawings look particularly shorter.
Cleavage should never ever be shown with lolita.
You should generally try to stick to one or two colors in an outfit with gothic lolita. Sweet lolita is another matter as a more decorated look is popular, but it usually looks tacky with a more gothic look. I'm not saying always, but usually, so it's best just not to try when you're new to the fashion.

I know what "Lolita " is biggrin

I don't need any help with the meaning, thank you very much.

my art doesn't have to be a clone of what YOU think Lolita or goth is.

I'm not new to this subculture and i think i can make alterations to what i think is best.

i will not be told what is right or not.

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to lock this thread.

You posted a gallery, saying that it was a gallery of lolita artwork and photography. It was a gallery of primarily fan art and photography unrelated to lolita in any way. The next time you wish to share, please point to particular pieces rather than the full gallery.

No one has been anything but polite to you in their suggestions so far, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Additionally, when given constructive criticism, I must ask that you do not change your thread topic and posts and behave in what is, to me, a very confrontational manner. This guild strives to be a friendly place, and your attitude frankly is not one that I would consider conducive to that atmosphere.

I repeat: please do your research. Lolita cannot be "whatever you want" as it is a fashion with guidelines. Inside those guidelines are many loopholes, but until you understand the basics of lolita such as the shape, silhouette and skirt length, those loopholes are moot.

I am agreeing with Spuntino in this matter and feel that you should perhaps learn to deal with criticism a little better and especially when I do not see only overly rude comment but rather people genuinely trying to help you.
