Lounging underneath a tree, Lumusi wasn't even sure why she was out here. She was farther out into the plains the usual and there wasn't exactly a reason to be here... Then again, all happy things occurred in spontaneity. The juvenile hadn't seen her family in awhile but she wasn't exactly wanting to see them. Though, she did want to see her mother. Her sisters... she wasn't particularly excited about.

She yawned lazily and swatted a fly away from her tail. The heat was incredibly bothersome and she wanted night to fall. Closing her eyes, Lumusi felt almost content and relaxed. At least the sun was beginning to set now... Was there anybody else out here?

On the opposite side of the coin, Dude had -just- seen his family, leaving all the girls to be (Damned his singular 'y' chromasome in the local 'loops' of the genetics..) alone to their own devices. Probably something akin to giggling about boys or following pridal tradition or something. He was born alone and 'inferior' in rank.

Oh, what could be -worse-? Well, aside from his self exile of living with them, instead vouching to live on the opposite side of the pride's lands. God knew he needed the exercise for the most part. He needed to get a kidnapped victim or something to drag along with him on these expeditions moreso though. Walking through an endless stretch of land forever was -quite- borin-...

His complaining trail of thought quickly came to a halt as his eyes spotted an unfamiliar mass of colors in the distance, causing the black-white-and-red (all over!) male to pause and stare at it for a moment.

"What the-?" Dude's expression was completely puzzled, staring for a moment, before he suddenly called out; "OI. What are you doing all the way out here?"

Lumusi kept her eyes closed. She was so... tired all of a sudden. It's not like she even did anything difficult today. The lioness breathed evenly and didn't even hear Dude walking nearby. She had no cares in the world and there was no reason to rush or do anything in general. Her body was relaxed and she jumped when she heard the lion calling out to her. "Oh dear." She whispered to herself and she lifted herself off of the ground and back onto her feet.

Looking at Dude, Lumusi tilted her head curiously. "Don't scare me like that." She felt her heart return back to normal. Then she answered his question, "Uh, I don't know. Kind of just wandered out here... Am I not supposed to be here?" Continuing to look at him curiously, Lumusi was aware of the various prides but had never encountered a lion a part of one. She had a lot to learn.

Almost invasively, as if he'd learned -no- manners in life, he strode up to the strange female, shoving his nose -right- into her fur to sniff vigorously, checking for any possible scent of familiarity. She didn't look familiar -and- she didn't smell like anybody who'd lived out in the Mtaishi'miele for any amount of time. He pulled his head away from her fur and gave her an inquisitive look for a moment as she answered, before frowning.

"Just 'wandered out here'? Girl! This is the domain of the Goddess of the LOST. M'thinks there's more than just 'wandering out here'." he pointed out, turning his head to look suspiciously in the direction of his pride's... 'main' population. He then thought about what he'd just said for a minute before gagging visibly. "Not there are -real- gods... I've never seen one at least.." he pointed out, then heaved a little sigh.

"It's not a matter of 'Supposed to be here' as it's a you're now surrounded by territory, water, mountains and whatnot on most sides of you. Possibility of wandering for a while? Massive." he warned. Yep. King of manners.

Staring at him blankly, Lumusi wasn't used to this sort of... aggression. Females were a tad more underhanded when it came to anger. And Lumusi grew up surrounded by that. She wasn't even sure what to say to him. Honestly, she didn't know that prides were so... strict. Wait. This wasn't right at all. Usually, Lumusi was a more dominant lion and it felt different for her to be submissive. She didn't like this feeling. "Uh." She stopped and thought about a retaliation.

"If... this is the domain of the goddess of the lost... Then it's quite probable that I'm lost and don't know where I'm going." Continuing to stare at him, this was probably the first time Lumusi had nothing to say and wasn't sure of what to say. "I've never really wandered over here before. I usually wander around over there." She moved her heads in the opposite direction. "Why... are you interrogating me?"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 9:37 pm

It wasn't as though he was -trying- to be mean to her or anything of that sort. He just was trying to get as much information passed between them as possible without wasting too much time with epic amounts of small talk. However, her point about the possibility of her being lost was -not- lost to him.

His ears flattened back into his growing-in mane and he again frowned. "Yes, but the less time you stay lost, the easier it is for me to get you unlost, see?" Dude explained, tail flicking impatiently, before he turned to continue heading towards his own 'personal' den. Sharing space with girls was difficult.

After a few steps he paused and turned to look back at her. "And that's also why I'm interrogating you. Now, you can come with me, or keep wandering further into the heart of the pridal land." following that he added in a grumble, "Where they might try to keep you here. Not a good idea if you ever want to leave. Getting out of here is a sort of....."

Dude trailed off. "Pain in the a**."

Lumusi wasn't sure what he was getting at. She kind of liked the small talk... She was at a loss. Never had she met anybody quite like Dude.

"I think I've been lost for quite some time now then. I don't particularly have a home and I'm not completely interested in getting un-lost." The lioness frowned as Dude began to walk away. How disappointing... Lumusi was never one to go after others. She was almost surprised that he turned back to her. Grinning slightly, Lumusi trailed behind him. Were prides.. that bad? She knew that they had their own beliefs but she was so naive to think that they would all be good.

Getting out of here? Why did everything around here have to be so complicated? She guessed that wandering over here was a bad idea... Then again, she didn't exactly think while she wandered aimlessly.

He hadn't been giving her much of a choice in the matter, to be perfectly honest. Dude continued to trail along ahead of her in an almost silent way, moving through the grass as though he'd trained himself to leave the 'bulk' of the pride as a ghost. He -was- a ghost.

"Un-lost or not un-lost. If you have no destination, then you can never be lost." he pointed out, glancing back over his shoulder again, before stopping to let Lumusi catch up. He really wasn't liking this whole 'talk over his shoulder' thing too much. Only once she'd caught up did he start to walk again...

and only then did he start to make any semblance of small talk;

"Males or Females.... do you think either should be considered better than te other?" he asked quietly, a sort of tone to his voice saying that it was a very base problem to him.

It -was- one of the foundations of the pride, and he, by no means, liked being 'lower' in rank than his sisters when -he- was born first.

Continuing to walk behind Dude, Lumusi was smiling to herself. She was rather amused by this. After she got past Dude's intimidating part, she felt more at ease. There wasn't much going through her mind as she walked except that she hoped she didn't get into too much trouble.

The female shrugged as she walked. "Perhaps, if you put it that way." She caught up to him as he slowed down and was rather surprised that he did that.

"Hm?" That was a... very random question. "I don't think either one of them should be considered better then the other." She nodded as she spoke knowing what she said was true. "Why do you ask that?" Raising a brow, was there something about his family? Or... what? She was rather confused now but at least they were talking about something. It was better then just wasting the day away too. Lumusi grew up in a family with only females. Her father left her mother and she had sisters. Estrogen-crazy family...

So she didn't have much experience with males but she wasn't shy or too overbearing either. But she had much to learn about the male psyche.

Dude took some time to think to himself before he answered her question. He'd asked on a rather personal level, but it was also a way for him to judge if this stranger would even like it here, in the level of the pride.

It wasn't to say that the social difference between genders was.. overbearing, but he didn't exactly feel like he was worth the same thing as others.

"I... was born before my younger sisters. I have spent my whole life aspiring for more than they have." The way the words fit into his mouth were very shakey and unshapen, like he wasn't used to exactly putting his thoughts out into the open. The face he made after saying the words confirmed the depth of this very awkward state further.

After mulling his vocabulary to bring himself to speak further, he continued. "However, because of what our pride believes, they are still... 'worth' more than me..." Almost immediately following this, his ears drooped lightly. "It's as though personal effort means nothing as long as I'm male..."

Woah. That was so weird. Lumusi had never thought about that before. She had never met somebody that was faced with ideas like that. "Really?" She paused and looked tot he ground not knowing how to comfort him or what to say. "Well, make the best of it. Even if people are pushing you down, push right through them." She knew that everything was easier said then done, it was still important to be optimistic.

She kind of felt sorry for him though because she never thought that people could be oppressed like that. That showed how sheltered Lumusi was and how she really needed to see the world. There was so much to learn about the prides and the area she lived in. "Why do they think that way? Is it something that is just the way it is?" To her, it seemed like it would be just as important to take care of the males because they're needed equally.

Dude laughed lightly at her suggestion. Not in a way that made it seem as though that were some crazy or stupid idea, but rather in a way that seemed as though that he hadn't quite explained the case as well as he should have. It wasn't so much that he was oppressed as.... well...

"Push up through them? Nothing is holding me down aside from the tradition of rank." he explained, finally coming to a rather... interestingly shaped rocky formation covered with plant life, pawing at it absent mindedly for a moment, before pushing up against one of the small trees posted there to open up a way to enter it.

"You're free to come and stay in here if you'd like.." he offerred, "It's my safe place, you see. Inside here, there are no such thing as ranks. Especially not segregated ranks for gender. Women always placed higher than men by tradition."

Dude crinkled his nose at the thought, then shook his head. "But as things are now, I can't change it.."

Lumusi looked at him skeptically unsure of what she said was funny. She shrugged to herself and continued to follow Dude. "Alright then..." The lioness stared at the rocky formation curiously. She had never seen anything like that before. Wow, Lumusi really had seen very little in her life and she thought that she should really start exploring more.

She entered the opening and looked around. Lumusi sat down on her haunches and looked back at Dude with a grin on her expression. "So, will you get your butt in here and enjoy the freedom?" The idea of tradition was foreign to her. She would have to ask her mother, Zuri, about stuff like that since she was so much more wise then she was.

Dude had been half-lounging out in the grass until she spoke, bringing his wandering mind back to reality like a rock to the brain, only much less painfully. His descent to reality didn't come with a head shake or any of those sudden expressions of 'oh!'. Just a slight widening of the eyes and a blink, before he looked up from his little spacing moment to look at Lumusi and laugh.

"Enjoy the freedom?"

It had been the last 'order' he'd been expecting to get, bringing another laugh as he sort of shifted around the tree, it whacking him in the rump as he moved from a position he could hold it to one side in, before walking to the other side of 'his' little den and settling down on one side lazily.

"Hard to enjoy freedom under orders." he joked, laying his head down on his paws, before pausing a moment, then lifting his head back up and scrunching his face a little bit.

"And since we waltzed right past these formalities on my fault, My name is...." he paused, scrunched his face again, then continued, "Dude. Yeah, I know.... funny name..."

Sticking her tongue at him playfully, Lumusi was actually enjoying herself now. Dude really wasn't that bad after you got to know him. Then again, Lumusi wasn't exactly the most polite lion there was. "Very funny." A hint of sarcasm coated her words but it was all in good humor. Most of the time, Lumusi was a pleasant lion but other times, she could be a horrible tyrant. But that happened to the best of animals.

She watched him curiously as he laid down. Oh yea, she just realized that she didn't know his name. Strange how you could talk to someone for awhile and not even know their name. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Dude." Lumusi smiled happily at him, "My name is Lumusi."
