 Ekundayo lay on a rock, not far from where her Mama and siblings were. She was humming to herself, the words to a tune forming in her head. As they solidified, she started singing them under her breath, red eyes never leaving her family.
"Never trust the shadows of night, they claw and scratch and bite. Never trust the eyes of gold, for evil is all they hold." It was a good warning, in her mind. She would tell it to her family later. She shook herself, then continued watch on her family.
She wouldn't let anything happen to them. Not while she was there.

Ayokunle laid next to her mother, as always, licking idley at one of her paw pads. Licking her lips after she was done, she glanced around her family members. That's when she noticed that one of her siblings was missing, her sister Ekundayo to be exact. Blinking, she looked for any sign of the dark cub, but saw none.
Slowly, and with a flick of her tail, she got up and slowly moved away from the rest of her family. Not too long after, she eventually found her lying on a rock. Tilting her head, she trotted over. "Ekun... what are you doing all the way over here?" She asked, a cheery smile on her head despite her curiousity.

"Keeping watch." She smiled slightly down at her sister. "Since 'Rai is bein' lazy about it." The dark cub stood and jumped down to land next to her sister. "You never know what would wanna sneak up on us."
Since her encounter with the demon-cub, she'd gotten slightly paranoid and guarded...especially after her wounds had healed. "How come you're over here?"

The calico marked cub didn't quite understand the point of keeping watch, never the one to think badly of others or that others can do wrong either. She just shrugged about it as she watched her leap from the rock she was on. "If you say so Ekun."
She greeted her sibling with a small headbutt, followed by a nuzzle of her cheek, chuffling softly. "I wondered where you went to. You weren't with 'Mum' or the others and I hoped that you didn't wonder off too far."

Ekun smiled and returned the nuzzle. "Sorry...I'm just...kinda scared. I don't want any of you to get hurt too." It was strange, being so scared all the time, but it had become something as familiar to Ekun as singing.
"I won't wander too far. You guys are too important."

Ayo chuffled happily as her sister returned her sign of affection. It was her comment about being scared and not wanting them to get hurt, that caused her to tilt her head curiously. "Scared? Of what?" She asked, now looking around for really... nothing in particular. "And we won't get hurt, we have Mum to protect us."
Her mood brightened when Ekun had said that she, and their family, were important. "Aww... you're important too, Ekun!"

Ekun drooped a bit. "Of lions like the boy who hurt me." She pat the developing scars on her muzzle. "He was very, very mean and cruel. Not at all like Mama, or you, or Shai, or 'Rai!"
But she brightened a little at her sister's words. "Thank you..." She leaned against Ayokunle. "I'm glad you think so!" Her siblings and Mama always knew what to say!

When she saw her sister get slightly upset and patted the approaching scars, she frowned. Moving closer, to her sibling, she nuzzled her softly. "I'm sorry that happened to you Ekun! I hope that your wounds heal quickly, but..." she looked to her, almost hopefully, "I'm sure not all lions are like the boy! I mean, your own family is proof of that!"
When Ekun leaned against her, she let out a small purr-like rumble, tail wagging softly. "You're very welcome." She shook her head some. "I don't think so... I know so!"
