Okay, here's one where we might think we know the pat answer, but I see it actually at work in members' lives. Is there such a thing as greater and lesser sin? For instance, we all know that murder and adultery are huge, but what about speeding and telling a "little white lie" (you know, that dress looks _fabulous_ on you)? Is is worse to be angry and take it out on the people at home, or worse to take paper clips from the office? Can sins be stacked up in a hierarchy least to greatest?

Let's debate it out...

I think so, at least a degree. i mean, if you murder someone, its pretty much a cardinal sin (assuming it is in fact murder with malicious intent, i think right?) whereas if i tell you that you look great in somehting (and you don't), i don't see me going to hell over it. unless of course, i'm doing it with malicious intent.

speaking of which...hahaha, just kidding.

but that alone sort of says that theres a sort of unspoken hierarchy (sp?) doesn't it? i think intention, and emotion have a lot to do with the intensity of the sin, and therefore its punishment....doing something on purpose as opposed to the same thing accidentally would result in greater punishment in many situations, and sometimes the intent alone can change a situation completely.

and my brain just died...sorry, hahaha. but i'll try and come up with somethign better tomorrow...having read through this, i realize how fallible, and easy to misinterpret it is...hmmmm...i'll have to think more now. dern.

have a good one!

If there's a difference in the severity of the sin (adultery and murder aside), does that change the repentance process?
