"Do you think it's wise, boy? Crossing blades with a pirate?"

Do you yearn for freedom? For adventure? Are you willing to fight hurricanes? monsters from your nightmares? Or even lose the ones you love the most? All for the sake of little glitter and your own will?

Then welcome aboard matey! And swab that deck, I run a tight ship here!

Meet your captain!

Quote:
[Name] Jonas Vayed
[soul] Pirate
[alignment] Neutral-Evil
[gender] Male
[Hairstyle] Greasy and VERY messy.
[hair color] Blonde
[eye color] algae green with yellow flecks
[skin color]Tan and very dirty
[markings] He's a pirate! Use your imagination!
[clothing style] About as stylish as one can be for someone who never washes or buys new shirts.
[wings]n/a
[horns] n/a
[ears] human
[accessories] He wears far too many. He is not without some sort of weapon i.e sword or gun.

[personalty] What can be said for a man that prizes his own survival above all else? Coward? Brilliant? Untrustworthy? Darwinist? Jonas's list of flaws can all be traced to one sin: he cares only for himself.

With such a flaw in mind, it is safe to assume that Jonas has no qualms with stealing, lying, sleeping around, and murder. Luckily, murder is one thing that Jonas want to be known for the least. Jonas is skilled at twisting the truth and will use more lies whenever he is found to be a liar.

Jonas has a love for all sorts of shiny objects. He prefers to go unnoticed whenever he stakes his claim to his heart's desire, but he is more than skilled with the art of escape. When cornered he can easily brandish a sword or gun.

Jonas is a very easy going and good humored fellow, but his selfish nature can be considered his greatest weakness. He constantly incurs the wrath of those more powerful than himself and without any strong magic to defend himself with, he is always relying on his wits and weapon just to survive by the skin of his teeth.

Should one become willing to gamble their life and money, he or she may find Jonas to be a useful ally for any occasion. Jonas easily responds to bribes, trades, or peek under a dress. If one is simply willing to be around Jonas just for the sake of pleasurable company, they would not be left wanting.

Jonas is very superstitious and will go to extremes to avoid bad luck. He knows every good luck charm in the book and carries multiple items of fortune on his person. Strangely enough, he seems resigned to the idea that his afterlife isn't going to be as enjoyable as his current life. He make no attempt to please whatever deity he thinks is in charge.

Jonas is super old fashioned when it comes to women. He believes them to be the weaker/fairer sex and does the best he can to be polite to them. He does not believe a woman should take the place of a man, and vice versa. Of course, all this trouble could simply be just to get up a lady' skirt.

[other information] Jonas enjoys rum. A LOT.
[pictures] coming soon!

note I want to keep his appearance a semi-blank slate since I am still unsure what essence to use.

With the trend in contests leaning towards preset souls, I figured I should have a female form of my concept available. There are a few major changes, which is why I am doing a complete profile rather than simply stating differences in a paragraph.

Quote:
[Name] Joni Vayed
[soul] Pirate
[alignment] Neutral-Evil
[gender] Female
[Hairstyle] Wavy and usually in a ponytail.
[hair color] Blonde
[eye color] whatever is inspired by the essence.
[skin color] Tan and slightly smudgy.
[markings] No markings unless they are from the essence.
[clothing style] She dresses a bit modestly. Usually in colonial style clothing designed for men.
[wings]n/a
[horns] n/a
[ears] human
[accessories] She always wears a hat and is fond of any gold jewelry that crosses her path. She is not without some sort of weapon i.e sword or gun.

[personalty]There is nothing that makes this lady happier than the spray of the ocean, and to feel the wind blow through her hair. Joni prizes freedom above all other things and she will do anything to obtain it. If her own guardian objects to something, she will find another way to do what she wants.

Joni has no qualms with stealing or lying. Oddly enough, the idea of murder and lewd behavior is beneath her. Joni is skilled at twisting the truth, and will use it to get out of any situation.

Joni has a love for all sorts of shiny objects. She will steal anything she needs, even if it is something trivial such as cottonballs or a pack of gum. When cornered she can easily brandish a sword or gun, but would much rather confuse her antagonists with mind games or simply running.

She knows that men are easily swayed, or confused, by the opposite sex. She is not above using her womanly charm and looks to persuade a fellow into giving her what she wants. The more money a guy has, the better!

Joni is a very easy going and good humored lass. Her thieving tendencies constantly incurs the wrath of those more powerful than herself and without any strong magic to defend herself with, she is always relying on her wits and weapon just to survive by the skin of her teeth.

Should one become willing to gamble their life and money, he or she may find Joni to be a useful ally for any occasion. Joni easily responds to bribes or trades. If one is simply willing to be around Joni just for the sake of pleasurable company, they would find Joni to be an inviting friend.

Joni and her guardian are constantly butting heads. Joni views her guardian as an anchor, but a well meaning one. She never wants to see her guardian get hurt or angry, but Joni is usually at a loss when trying to figure out what makes Keirro angry in the first place. In spite of Keirro's numerous punishments, lectures, and supervision, Joni still manages to find a way to get out of her guardian's view for just a moment to enjoy herself.

Joni is slighty superstitious. She knows a great deal about voodoo and catholicism and the two are intertwined in her understanding of the supernatural. Strangely enough, she is unsure of her fate in the after and doesn't care to resolve the matter. She make no attempt to please whatever deity she thinks is in charge.

Joni regards men to be inferior creatures and looks on them as a queen bee would view a drone. She takes no offense to chivalry. If a guy wants to go out of his way to please Joni, he can have at it. Don't expect Joni to treat anyone anything more than a potential crew member for her ship.

Essence of Adventure

Quote:
Half-ton Feather
Such a pretty little feather, it is so colorful and elegant. It would make an excellent addition to any lady’s hat, if one can get it off the ground. The laws of mass and volume have been thrown out the window.

The feather belonged to a bird, though very beautiful, was not particularly special. It did not possess magical abilities or sing the prettiest songs. Seconds before the storm, however, the bird heard Shira’s tragic song and its heart became heavy as a stone. As the seas washed the bird away, the burden became a literal weight and transferred itself onto the surviving feather of the bird.

Quote:
Molten Gold
Gold is one of the most malleable metals known to man. It doesn't take too much heat to melt gold, but gold is supposed to harden when it cools. This gold has sat in a puddle at the bottom of a cold, damp cave for centuries. That should have been more than enough time for the precious metal to cool and harden.

but it's still quite hot. It is not hot enough to melt the glass, but the glass is showing signs of wearing, and a good pair of oven mitts is needed just to handle the substance. .

Quote:
Moving Algae
Did you see that? It went over there! Get it! Get it! Get it! Good lord, it looked like a large spider!

This shapeless pile of green plant goo is capable of giving a greyhound a run for its money. It's quick to react and gave the owners of that brand new boat the fright of their lives. The algae impatiently bangs itself against the confines of its jar. It's better not to let it out, or poor Kyou will have to catch it all over again!

Quote:
Chattering Bones
It looks like this animal skull has been bound with duct tape. After removing said tape, one discovers quite quickly that they will want a roll of thier own.

"Hey you! Did you hear about that sleeping-walking nun? She was a Roamin' Catholic! Get it? Nyuk-Nyuk!"

The trick isn't getting the bones to talk. It's getting them to shut up.

Quote:
Sea Monster's Heart
Looking inside the jar, you can hear your heart pounding. When you put your hand over your chest, you realize it's not your heart that is making that sound. You see a slimy, scaly greenish-blue organ inside. The sea monster's heart is still alive, and it still sounds hungry.

Note For me, Jonas would not be Jonas if he got to use magic. Jonas will be be special since each essence is about enhancing a natural trait above that of a normal human's and with a slight tinge of the super natural that helps keep his head above water in trying moments. I love all of my essences equally, so I need some help picking out the best one.

The Half-ton Feather was used in last year's festival and it was a finalist in acquiring a Soul. However, my writing talents were not at their best and I lost the story part of the contest. This essence would make Jonas look much more flamboyant and feathery. His power would be momentum. Meaning, the more he moves, the stronger he gets. It's a lot like a pendulum. He would be much heavier than he looks and he would require twice the energy of a normal ravaen. He would have to eat constantly to keep up his energy levels.

Moving Algae enhances his speed and prevents drowning. It also allows Jonas to acquire nutrition from the sun if he is unable to find food. Regretfully, his skin dries out more easily than most humans and he is constantly lathering up with oil or bathing without soap. Lotions are far too girly for Jonas's taste.

Molten Gold: This makes Jonas's able to absorb more damage. If he is struck with a heavy blow, his bones and skin simply dent or bend. The gold swirls throughout his body and usually resembles tattoos. The patches of gold on his skin are superheated and can cause the clothes on Jonas's back to break into flames if he gets angry or too excited.

Chattering Bones: Jonas would look slighted plated, with a few spikes sticking here and there. He would be able to produce his own sword and dagger from his more bony patches of skin and deflect the blades of others using his plates as shields. Jonas would make a clattering sound when he runs, and he would be too eager to strike up a conversation.

Sea Monster's Heart: This heart would give our friend, Jonas, supernatural strength and endurance. Jonas would look more fierce and his eyes would be more beasty. This heart would cause Jonas to favor lawful-evil rather than neutral-evil.

I hope that explains it. I'm always open to suggestions!

more ideas to come:
Brain Coral (or any kind of coral)
Wooden Idol (a small statue that never rots, even after being submerged for centuries.)
Liquid Sand
underwater willow tree (a tree that survived under the depths of the ocean)

The Guardian

[name] Keirro Renee Fisher Ph.D
[age] 27
[occupation] Fashion Model
[skin] Mocha
[eyes] golden
[hair] Black or brown. Always an afro.
[personality Keirro has been going through a new plan for her life. She just recently quit her job as a psychologist and has entered the fashion industry with a new lease on life. After so many years of being tight-lipped and maintaining a proper image, Keirro is finally learning to relax and take life more easily.

Keirro still believes in maintaining a good image, but doesn't obsess over it anymore. She has learned to be more relaxed around strangers and loves the new challenges in her life. She is a social butterfly and now loves to host parties and other social gatherings. She still has some reservations about non-humans, but that has now passed.

Keirro believes in order and law. She prizes cleanliness and has a great sense for home decor. She loves to buy the latest in perfume and cosmetics, but this is more of a hobby instead of a daily requirement.

Keirro tend to get high strung when her life is disrupted by chaos. She handles stress by becoming tight lipped and calculating. She reverts back to acting standoffish and aloof.

[History] Keirro was born in a poor neighborhood in Durem. Raised by her single mother, Ann, who stressed on the importance of a good education. From the moment she could read, Keirro did everything she could o be top of her class

She was highly competitive in grade school and easily won over the attention of universities and received scholarships for her tuition.Due to her high strung and competitive nature, she never had many friends. She tended to view friendships as networking opportunities for her career.

When she graduated at the top of her class, she expected to receive top job offers. Sadly, because of her model-like appearance, she was never taken seriously by her male counterparts and she was scorned by her feminist (usually less attractive) peers.

Keirro found herself scrounging for any patients she could get until she started to date a young man named Silver. Silver's laid back and gentle personality helped Keirro realize that she should look for her own happiness rather than the highest paying job. Keirro quit her psychology field and entered into the world of fashion.

History!

(Based VERY loosely on "Red Legs" Geaves.)

Patrick Wilde had very humble beginnings. His family was so poor, that they had to become indentured servants in order to pay off their debts. The master only saw young Patrick as an extra mouth to feed, so he quickly ordered the young boy to be given away to Shabby Meadows Orphanage when the boy turned 6.

Patrick learned to steal, lie, and cheat his way into survival. He saw a need for better food in the orphanage, after seeing the horrific food that the children were forced to eat. Patrick never liked dogs, so he found a great use for the strays that roamed the streets.

At age 10, Patrick was already an expert butcher and trapper, but his life as an orphan was still just plain awful. Mr.Raccoon caught on to Patrick's enterprise and locked the child up in the attic to receive punishment later on. Patrick escaped from Shabby Meadows once and for all by knocking out one of the flimsy wooden windows.

As Patrick roamed the streets, he heard a rumor that ocean vessels were offering jobs for cooks. He quickly signed up in the port of Gambino, with the Captains a little skeptical. After the crew mates found out that they were eating the shipyard dogs, Patrick was quickly demoted to Cabin Boy and earned the nickname "Dog Eater".

Patrick "Dog Eater" Wilde spent the next seven years sailing with well-meaning captains. He earned enough to afford good meals and decent clothing. Unlike his other shipmates who were marrying and caring for families, Patrick remained single. He preferred the carefree life of a bachelor.

One of the ships Patrick voyaged on was soon ransacked by pirates. Patrick was able to have his life spared by convincing the Pirates' captain, Bones, that he was able to cook.

It wasn't a complete lie, since Patrick was an expert at cooking domesticated animals. But the crew was only willing to use him during desperate voyages. He was able to prove himself useful as a deckhand, in spite of Captain Bones's strict, often insane, standards.

Bones was a horrible captain. He treated his crew like slaves and gambled the loot away in card games and dice. The crew was terrified to mutiny, though they constantly griped about their poor treatment.. Patrick, used to the horrific treatment from Mr.Raccoon, felt right at home amongst the immoral Captain.

The crew finally mutinied against Captain Bones. After making the captain walk the plank, the crew voted on a new captain, Henry Morgan, a nice lad who proposed an living based on honest trade.

Patrick was disgusted with the idea of being serviced to the same government that allowed Shabby Meadows Orphanage to exist. He shot Henry Morgan square in the chest moments after his election, and then proposed that there were better means of living. He was unanimously elected as Captain.

Patrick was a hard captain, but fair. He looted all ships, especially pirate ships. He got over his fixation with dog meat after meeting a ship full of vegetarians, and then suggested eating the entire crew when they refused to barter their tofu.

Patrick was able to get as much tofu as he wanted, but he was never able to convince the crew to try a meat-free lifestyle.

After ten years of pillaging and plundering, Patrick was ready to hang his hat and retire. He had always wanted to own a butcher shop, and he finally had the money to do so. He set up shop in Barton Town.

He enjoyed a relaxed, uneventful lifestyle for another ten years until he was recognized as being a pirate. He was arrested immediately and was offered a bargain: either turn in other pirates, or be hanged.

He reluctantly returned to the sea.

Personally, I find your soul choice a little difficult. Pirates are humans -usually- and so they'd have their own life to develop and act out. So you'd probably (I think Kitten? Was mentioning this in my quest thread; Link: [x]) have to plan out your soul's entire history up to the point of soul capture. I actually dropped one of my concepts because of the soul difficulty..but that doesn't mean you have to! I was just.ur..uhhh. o /// x /// o;;;;; Sorry, ranting.

Anyways, the fel essence effects certain coloring aspects of your Raevan, so asking for a specific hair color or attire color may be a little..unnecessary? Unless you're hitting up a custom of course. Though Natsuki did mention once how Kyou is rumored to take sketches or ideas about a Raevan's appearance suggested by their owner in mind when creating said Raevan.

Returning to the focus of essences, I really enjoy your half-ton feather and your molten gold the most. Shushida actually had a concept as well, incorporating a similar gold-type essence. :3 And the combination of gold with greedy pirate is very nice as well!!

In both your concepts, though you're aiming for a similar Raevan in both male and female, I wish to see some variation in the personality? For example, a female Raevan could use her seductive ways and perhaps a sly tongue to get out any situation rather than depending on weapons. Also, I feel as if, if you do use the pirate soul, you're focusing too much on it when incorporating it into your Raevan's personality.

...I hope I helped ;~;

You could always probably use the soul of a ghost who use to be a pirate. It would make a very intriguing story. Perhaps they were cursed and forced to roam the earth like such for eternity. And now they yearn to be freed anyway possible, of which your guardian can do by taking their soul to use for a Raevan. But it's really up to you, but I think it'd be a cool story. I'm such a sucker for pirates in all honesty, hehe.

I still think your feather is your best essence idea. Molten gold is good too, but it just doesn't seem to shine like the feather. I just love the idea of the Raevan being able to make itself and/or other things heavier or lighter. Moving Algae? I dunno...just doesn't appeal to me nor does a skull that talks. The skull seems a bit out there anyway and doesn't really show some sort of contradiction of which makes something a fel essence. And in all honesty, the Sea Monster Heart just creeps me out. I mean, strands of hair, fangs, claws, fur, something of those natures are fine, but when it's an actual body part or organ, I think it's a bit too morbid for most people.

Hope I helped and good luck in your quest, Matey!
