"Hey dad this is Ukuu. "
He said it quickly while passing by the adult male, a little sidetracked with searching the floor for the perfect toy. Makani was resting nearby a coconut tree, though he avoided being under it because of the coconuts, but the coconuts were exactly what Loki was looking for. He found on nice, hard one and proudly rolled it over.
"Found one! "
"Hmm? " Makani looked up distractedly, raising his head from where it rested on a front paw. "Oh, right. Hi. " He added just as distractedly, though soon enough perked his ears to focus slightly on the brown juvenile. This kid was probably not too much younger than his own, was he?
"Nice to meet you.. " He paused. "Ukuu. " He was feeling rather distracted today. "You're a friend of Loki's, I'm assuming. " He nodded.
"Yup! " The juve nodded, smiling as he glanced over to where Loki had found a coconut. They'd get to play soon! "Your name's Makani, right? " He was sure Loki'd mentioned him before... but not quite sure he had the name right. He blinked slightly, Makani didn't look much like his son at all, did he? Loki was red and Makani was an orangeish brown.
His mom was probably red.
He quicked the coconut around a bit, and looked at the watering hole, then peered at his dad. "Y'know if there's any shallower pool around? " He asked, perking his ears. It'd be good to play in the water, today was rather hot. And coconuts floated, which was good.
"So me and Ukuu can go play. " He paused. "Have ya seen Xippi? He's good at games! " His hyperactive brother was always fun to have around at times like this.
"I think there is, " He stood up, lazily stretching. "I'll take you there. " He could also use something to watch, perhaps his laze today was caused by boredom. "And no, sorry, I haven't. He's probably running around somewhere chasing hares. " He smiled slightly at that. While Xippi wasn't exactly a lot like him, he was very amusing.
"Come, "
Ukuu blinked, he hadn't expected Makani to decide to keep them company, but he wasn't exactly complaining, and soon enough kept pace with Loki behind the older male, ocasionally stealing the coconut and kicking it a bit himself.
"Who's Xippi, by the way? "
"Great! " Loki exclaimed, he rather liked when Makani accompanied him, even though sometimes it felt silly if he messed up; Makani wasn't afraid to jeer a little bit. At least soon enough he'd gotten used to it. Not that he enjoyed it much-- except on those rare occasions where he had a clever retort!
He turned his attention back to Ukuu. "Xippi's my lil' brother. Dad says he's very 'hyper'.. " He paused. " .. active, yeah. Hyperactive. " He nodded smartly. He thought it meant he had a lot of energy.
"Yup, hyperactive. " Makani confirmed, glancing back at the two. "Then again, all of you get hyperactive sometime. " He teased. Kids had their moments. Heck, he had his moments. But right now wasn't one of them.
"So, Ukuu, you live with your parents? "
"Oooh.. " He blinked, noting to keep that in mind. Hyperactive. alrighty then. He blinked, snapping his attention to Makani, forgetting about the coconut for long enough for Loki to steal it, and he glanced to the side and the red juve scampered away keeping the coconut near his paws.
"I live with my mom, but dad shows up every now 'n then. "
Loki laughed, dominating the coconut with his front paws and nose, keeping it rolling ahead of him, and avoiding rocks. he wanted it to last long enough to play in the water!
"Hey! you're like us then. Kinda. " He smiled. "Mom lives with my sisters! Me dad 'n Xippi go visit them a looot tho'. " He nodded. It was a rather nice arrangement, really. He liked it.
"I see, " Like Loki, Makani rather liked the arrangement, though Ukuu's seemed different. It looked like Uri visited alone. "Do you have siblings? " Maybe they all lived with their mother. He couldn't exactly blame the dad for maybe not wanting the kids 24-7.
He laughed at Loki's idea of kicking the coconut around like he was, and soon enough picked up to chase him, stretching out a paw to steal it and pull it away, though trying not to get ahead of Makani. "Mine now! " He stuck his tongue out, using one paw to keep it in route and the other to try and block out Loki.
"Yeah! Four. Or three. " He wasn't sure, rather distracted by keeping the coconut from Loki.
Loki, however, wasn't hesitant about pulling ahead of Makani, and as soon as he got the coconut back, pulled ahead, nearly crashing into his father(who'd thankfully lifted his paw just in time).
"Not anymore! "
Makani smirked, watching the two boys, and slowly felt himself getting in the mood for a game. Next time they stole the fruit from each other, he shot forward, brushing between them and swiftly snatching the ball. "You're too slow, Loki! " He taunted, and sped up, keeping the coconut with him until he found the pool, and speeding up, kicked it into the water, leaping in soon after.
"Hey! " Ukuu laughed, and sped up after the adult, stretching out a paw for the "ball" and then squeaking as suddenly he was wet, not having been paying attention to where he was going. He tumbled into the shallow water and rolled.. sort-of to his feet, only to be pounced by Loki-- who soon continued towards his father to steal their toy.
He laughed, and soaking wet by now, moved to join them, bouncing higher because the water reached a bit above his ankles.
Loki laughed, not having been as surprised as Ukuu as he felt the water beneath his paws, though he did slow down some. Makani's longer legs made it easier for him.
"Rrrroar! " He sohuted, forgetting the coconut for a moment and flinging himself at his dad's head, latching to it and clinging as long as he could. "Go, ukuu! Get the coconut! " He shouted. "i'll distract him! " But soon he emerged into a sea of giggles as Makani had found his weak spot, and with a paw poked his sides lightly in the best way a cheetah could tickle.
"Tryin' ta outsmart me, eh? Eh? " He laughed, keeping Loki at bay a bit before seeing Ukuu go for the fruit, an quick as a flash leaped after it, knocking it away from the brown juve, but landing on his side-- resulting ukuu landing on top of him. "Aaagh! " He chuckled, rolling over and batting at the boy and rolling awkwardly back up to his paws.
He laughed, nipping on the adults ears before he was forced to roll over as he stood. "I gotcha! " Ukuu grinned proud, before remembering the coconut and looking its way. Hey! Loki was getting at it! Without pausing longer, he charged after his red friend.
Loki was proud when he got the ball, and soon enough began to kick it around, trying to avoid it being stoled again. But the playful trio kept switching places, sometimes it was Loki and Ukuu against Makani, next thing he knew he had the ball and ukuu and Makani were after him!

"That was awesome! " He said, dripping wet still as he and Makani walked back towards where they'd spend the night. It was late afternoon by now, and ukuu had already ran off, hurrying home so as to not get scolded. "We should do it more often! " He wheezed, shaking himself dry then flopping on his side.
"Yeah, it was. " Makani smiled down at his son, stretching as the juvenile flopped beneath the tree. He could see Xippi had exhausted himself as well, as his other son was curled up at the other side of the tree.
It didn't take long for Loki to fall asleep, and soon Makani stretched out lazily as well. He had enjoyed the day, despite the lazy start. It was rather nice to act like a kid sometimes. He did it often, really. Makani never wanted to grow up; and he was doing a good job so far.
