The streets of the Soul Society bustled with many people as though a festival of sorts was going on but no festival was going on, "This is odd, it isn't even all that nice out...it's so cloudy." Rukia complained under her breath as she pushed out of the crowd and headed off into the distant corners of the society. "Why does it seem everything has changed?" She asked herself loudly as her pace became faster.

Byakuya walked slowly through the streets of the Soul Society. He didn't have to worry about the crowds, they just stepped out of his way as he walked. Now, the captain had no exact reason why he was walking in this area, but at least it wasn't reasonless for too long as he noticed Rukia pass by not too far from him.

Rukia felt the change in pressure around her, it was a familiar feeling. She turned and spotted her brother, immediately bowing at his presence. "B-B-Byakuya nii-sama." Rukia spoke softly as she looked up to look at her brother.

Standing in front of her, the taller Soul Reaper watched as she bowed to him. He bowed his head slightly in acknowledgment when she referred to him by name. "Rukia... what are you doing out here?"

"I... I wanted to take a walk." She smiled lightly and scratched the back of her head, not sure the reason why she was out here. Then the feline realized she wanted to visit Rukongai to see if there was anything she could help with around the town.

The captain nodded slightly. "Did Captain Ukitake-sama allow you to leave?" He questioned, his gaze never leaving his sister for one moment.

"H-Hai, Nii-sama..." She shuddered and bit her lip, not really asking permission if she could leave or not. Then again, she really didn't even think to ask if she could any other time and sighs.

The fox's grey-ish blue eyes narrowed some at the feline in front of him. By her reaction, he could tell that she did not ask for permission to leave. "Rukia, why have you not asked? I am certain that Captain Ukitake would have allowed your visit."

"I didn't even think about asking, it's been rather slow for the thirteenth squad so I figured that it wouldn't be any trouble if I left for a while." The feline nodded some and looked around, trying to avoid eye contact even though she was telling the truth. After all, Byakuya always seemed to make her nervous and on edge. "I-I'm sorry, I'll ask next time."

Byakuya had noticed that she avoided eye contact with him, but did not say a thing about it. Actually, he preferred it rather than how the Kurosaki boy would look at him defiantly. He sneered some at the thought, but pushed it aside as soon as it came. "That may be the case, but it is still better to let your Captain know of your location for the just case of a situation coming up and he possibly needing you."

She simply nodded and looked up at him, her bangs blocking off some of her view of him. Rukia always thought her brother was intimidating and now was no exception. "H-Hai, I'm sorry Byakuya-sama.." The feline bowed and bit her lip. "I'll go ask for permission..."

The fox nodded his head. When she said that she'll now go and ask for permission, his tail flicked. "I shall go with you." He told her. It wasn't that he did not trust his little sister, he just wanted to make sure she kept her word.
