Silver cloven hooves treaded silently on the unyielding earth beneath her as the ebon' mare made her way across the soft earth, glittering silver irises focused flatly on the path before her. She preferred to stay hidden in the daytime, but the nights spent wandering in cold darkness had left her with a chill in her spine, and for once, she longed to feel the warm sunlight caress her aching limbs.

Masked features were decidedly stoic as a soft, whispery sigh befell her parted lips, coming to an abrupt halt before a rocky cliffside that she recognized as one of her nightly visiting places. It was quite a bit different in the daytime, but the sun's rays sparkling upon the crashing waves below left a different impression than the moonlight. She had never completely understood other soquilis' aversion to being out in the midnight hours when such beauty was beneath their noses, but the far-reaching sunlight held a certain charm that the moon and stars could not. It was... different, yes, but not in a negative way.

A small, fleeting smile adorned the dark features beneath her steel mask, disappearing almost as suddenly as it had come, but the warm impression it left remained, as well as the upward crinkling of her eyes. The expression of happiness wasn't completely foreign, but it had been some time since the last time she had smiled and meant it. Perhaps the passing of days would help the feeling to return.

Green eyes squinted at the harsh brightness of the sun, she wasnt exactly a creature of night but she preferred the cooler temperatures than the blistering heat of the summer days. Today it was cooler than usual, more tolerable, the sparkling crimson mare tossed her head, ivory and crimson locks tossed around before falling over her eyes once again.

Her white socks gleamed under the golden bands that wrapped around each of her sturdy legs, gems gleamed from the middles of each of them as she stood there proudly.

Gaiacinta was just that, a very proud unikalona. She was not taken back by her mixed blood, and with her bold stares and strong stance only dared others to mock her for it. Her wings rested against her backside the golden colored horns gleamed as well, she seemed to sparkle with an unknown shimmer. Her ears flicked at the endless chatter of the birds above her, she shook her head a bit, to mindless and idle for her own tastes.

Another sound caught her attention, the sound of another's steps. Almost silent to the untrained ear, but one had to listen to catch the rabbits she enjoyed to dine on, so her ears were used to catching sounds, not meant to be caught.

Keeping her steady metallic gaze on the worn dirt path before her, Amaya failed to take immediate notice of the other mare in the vicinity... but the glare of bright red against her vision drew her attention abruptly as her steps halted. Berating herself inwardly for her inattention, she straightened, but started as her assessment of the ruby soquili finally registered in her slightly hazed mind.

The presence of the bright colors and kalona wings were not at all uncommon, and didn't surprise her in the least, except perhaps the fact that she was present in the sunlight, when most kalona preferred to lurk in the dark. No... what truly rendered the dark mare speechless was the sight of a horn on the mare's forehead, protruding from the unruly strands of her crimson and ivory forelocks.

Another unikalona? Like herself? Amaya had never met another of her kind, had never even known another existed... were there more than just this one, then? Were they accepting of one another? Would they be accepting of her? A thousand questions surfaced in her frenzied mind as she tried to debate the wisest course of action, wanting desperately to approach the other mare, but unknowing of whether or not she would be welcome to do so. Instead, she simply stood where she was, silver irises brimming with curiosity and wistfulness as she dipped her head in a carefully polite greeting.

"Konnichi wa," she offered carefully, considering offering a small smile as well, but deciding against it- most kalona didn't think of the gesture from one another as friendly, and she didn't want to give the ruby mare any excuse to think that she was hostile.

Her head lifted proudly, her green eyes sparkled with a somber look giving off little emotion at first before they warmed slightly, her tail flicked out behind her curling up against her side before falling back behind her once more.

She gave a faint bow like motion with her head, as she greeted the other mare. "Greetings young one.." A fanged smile tugged on her face, it didn't add much warmth to her features but yet it didn't make them seem as cold and distant. She was more familiar with meeting others like herself, though she didn't keep in close contact with kalonas if she didn't have to and usually she didn't. Unicorns scorned the halflings as well, but did it with much more grace than the others so she didn't dispies them as greatly.

Her body relaxed a bit, she didn't want to come off as if she were going to attack the unknown unikalona mare, but at the same time she held a proud, strong stance no one would ever accuse her of being weak in the slightest.

The fanged smile that appeared on the older mare's striking features struck a beacon of hope in the dark mare's heart, drawing a small smile of her own out onto her masked expression. Perhaps she may have found a kindred spirit... someone who would understand her burden, her strife.

Her wings arched proudly as she offered a bow of her own to the crimson mare, noting her own strong, vigilant stance. It seemed that she was a warrior, and her emerald eyes spoke of many tales that Amaya could well relate to. The effort of simply surviving, shunned by both species that they descended from, the disappointment of being rejected by potential companions... yes, perhaps she had finally found a companion who could understand her.

The term 'young one' reminded her of her mother, and her smile warmed the tiniest bit, silver hues crinkling slightly as she debated what to call her in return. "It is... an honor to meet you, anee-ue. My name is Amaya." The term 'honored sister' seemed a bit familiar for one she had never met before, but she could not think of another that would seem befitting of a mare such as this.

"Are there... others of our kind? I did not know there was another besides me until now."
