I just learned there was a name for it and I would love to start making some steampunk stuff! I just have to keep a look out for old mechanical parts first. I purchased some bronze and copper at the hardware store. I'm interested in seeing your steampunk stuff! Please post. Also some tips on where and how to obtain materials would be very much appreciated. Don't know what it is? Look here or google it! >> Steampunk wiki The stuff you can find is amazing!

Eee! I love steampunk~ I'm planning of cosplaying steampunk lolita, if that's possible XD I have a bunch of random mechanical parts. Um...I only obtain them by finding them on the ground though sweatdrop Dunno where you normally would. I suppose at a hardware store? I recently searched Etsy for steampunk too, some nice parts there.

Try getting old clock parts? Clockwork is always fun. If you can get it to like, MOVE or something, with pure clockwork, I'd be impressed. xP

Worst comes to worst, try going to pawn shops, junk stores, antique shops, anywhere with mechanical junk that looks cool. Cheap prices and you get to demolish things for fun! Be careful about how antique something is before demolishing it, I think.
I've never really gotten into the steampunk culture, but I've always liked the way it looked.

Oh wow.
I looked into it, found a video on Youtube about a guy who turns his computers and stuff into steampunk style.
I really like it!
I dont know if I would be very good at it... but I would definitely buy some things!

Contact Enki Leviathan. I know him IRL, and he makes some awesome stuff. Check out his Myspace too! I believe you can search him under, Toy Soldier Leviathan.

I love that style. I'm trying to save up trinkets and gears, to see if I can come up with something.

Wow, I haven't posted here in a while.
Steampunk? I only recently found out about that style, and since then, only vaguely aware of it.. But this sounds like fun. I'll try checking wiki for more info on it. ^^

estate sales can also be very good as can storage unit sales. I wish I had thought to buy some at the time but they had a storage unit sale here in my town about a year ago. The guy must have either collected clocks or fixed and resold them because they had a couple hundred clocks there.
Steam punk is pretty cool. My boss this summer is big into it. Its interesting to see how people create their own characters. One of the guys in her group is Native American and ended up making some traditional clothes for his tribe with steam punk elements. Super heavy but looked cool
