A lazy afternoon was nothing to Ashling who, of many lions, had it easy out in the bright and unforgiving sun of the savannah. Ah yes. No dark fur to be found across her white pelt. Even the none white markings didn't force her to suffer the wrath of the sun.

It was another day of following her strange beautiful ghosts (a habit she'd grown into with her sister), which seemed to wait on her. The mask-marked lioness had woken up at an.. almost early time, watching the sun poke it's golden rays over the tops of the distant hills before the white figure of her 'ghost' (why her desire to follow it, she never knew) went on it's walk. Ashling had bid her mother a quick 'Good morning, Good bye, I'll be back!' all in one breathe before she'd risen to follow it.

Only when the sun had started to beat down heavily enough to make the ground she walked on hot did Ashling take note of the time of day, frowning rather visibly towards the golden mass in the sky. "Oh, bugger." she said at it, rather proud of herself for growing out of her horrible lisp, before she focused her attention now on finding a place to go get water.

Water, water, water. Where are you? She was making up an entire song about to that extent about it.

It wasn't a quick venture either, taking anywhere from Fourty minutes to an hour and twenty minutes before the lioness -gratefully- found a water-hole to settle down by, sitting in a little patch of shade she was able to find to drink from it.

No need to burn your paws to cool yourself off!

Irritating, infuriating, his mood had been especially foul of late, a snarl seeming a permanent feature on his maw. If he had been a monster before, the beast's temper had only grown worse with rebirth. Not that dying at the paws of your brother then waking up to find yourself a cub a gain wasn't enough to ruin anyone's day. But worse was the burning pain in his wings, the lightning surge that shot through him with every movement, with every touch. As if it hadn't been enough that he'd lost them in the first place, he also had to suffer the torture of their regrowth. They were mocking him, and he hated it, fury burning with each surge of pain.

His tail flicked with a snap, glaring at the sun from the corner of one green eye, talons slashing into the earth with each step, as if in retaliation for the rays that scalded in own white hide. He might have roared were it not for the prize he carried in his jaws, the lifeless form of a slain hare. It was a small meal, but it would do for now, at least he had been able to sink his claws into something. How he hated being a cub.

Green eyes scanned the horizon, searching, at last falling on the shade of a tree, the reflection of water. It was there that his paws carried him, seeking to quench his thirst and escape from the heat of the sun. If only he'd know there was another nearby.

Had it not taken her so long to find her little resting place, Ashling would have been in with a few laps of water, good to go, then left. However, as the thought began with a 'had it not', that was, unfortunately, not the case. Instead she'd forced herself to stay a while, laying down at the roots of the tree to wait and see if she did feel better.

Being unsure if you were still dehydrated or not before you went out into the sun was a horrible idea. That was why she wasn't doing it. She sprawled out in a way that would make most animals seem dead, purring quietly as she breathed in and out, in and out. Her only real sign of life.

Ashling felt like she was laying there forever, almost finding it in her mind to fall asleep and putting forth some effort toward that goal when the sound of oncoming paws, though faint (and a little bit of her ghost warning her), caused her to twitch ever so lightly and tilt her head back to glance back toward the body of water, waiting to see what was coming.

Just one of her ghosts, it seemed, for a moment until the sound of grass caused the lioness to sit up entirely, a puzzled look on her face. What was coming, and why couldn't she see it?

The grass rustled, insects fleeing at his paws, steps at last carrying him to the water's edge. He had not noticed the lioness, nor was he looking for her, not that it would have changed anything if he had. It was not until he had set his prey on the bank, his head lowered to lap at the water, only then did his eyes catch the reflection, gaze drifting up to find the white form resting nearby.

Had he remembered more of his past life, he might have thought she looked familiar, but those memories forgotten, she was just another irritation. Eyes narrowed, a low warning growl rumbling in his throat. How annoying, just what he didn't want, company.

Ears flicked, tails twitching irritability. A snort, another glare, the god took his prey in his jaws, settling in his own patch of shade to enjoy his meal, or at least take the satisfaction in tearing it to shreds. He would have left that very moment were it not the only shade, but as it was, there was little choice in the matter.

For now, he would simply ignore her, so long as she didn't irritate him further than she did with her presence.

Lo and behold, the little ghosts were right again! However, she hadn't been expecting the noise to be from such a little body. In fact, she was surprised to see a cub out and about on it's own. Part of her mind told her that he -wasn't- out on his own, bringing Ashling to leave the cub to it's own devices while staring off towards where he'd come from, just waiting for a mother or father to appear to claim their child back.

One minute, two minutes. Nothing. Not even the sound of a body moving in the grass to keep an eye on the little growling cub. Which left Ashling to determine that it was now -her- job to do so, shifting her weight to allow her to view the little one better.

Despite all the growling (which she presumed was a thing that little boy-cubs did to try and be tough. She'd grown up with a litter of girls and no brothers to her name so it seemed reasonable to her!), he was a cute little bugger. Even with all the ripping apart of his little kill.

Awww, he clung to it so adorably. Maybe that was her being blinded to his rather terroristic nature by her 'BIOLOGICAL CLOCK. MUST ADOPT BABY' veil. That -must- have been why his little mutilating actions recieved a bit of a purr from her. Approval.

"That's quite a catch you have." she stated innocently. Feed the ego. ATTEMPT to feed the ego.

Eyes narrowed, pausing amid a rather vicious bite into the hare to glare at her once more. Swallowing the meat, bloody fangs bared in a snarl, another growl, louder than before.

"What's it to you?"

The statement did not invite an answer, more a suggestion that she shut her mouth while she still had one. He was not here for conversation; he did not want to answer stupid questions, nor did he appreciate patronizing compliments.

Despite his appearance, he was not a cub. He was an immortal, with the knowledge and experience of lifetimes past. Far from a child, he was not helpless nor did he need a 'parent' to look after him, and had he known her thoughts he would have let his talons show her otherwise. Eternally a warrior, Tanaka knew how to hunt and how to kill, he only lacked the massive size that had once been so great an advantage, infuriating.

While Ashling was, currently, much bigger than the little cub she wasn't exactly sure she wanted to pick a fight with the little booger. The snarl received a frown in reply, the seer's tail flicking back and forth idly as she watched him eat silently for some time.

She -could- have pushed it, but she didn't see the point in smacking any little kids a new one. It would have been so -mean-. Though a little part of her wanted to.

"What's what to me?" she finally said with the best stubborn expression she had, if only to attempt to kill what was supposed to be a silencing comment. With the tone he'd said it in, she felt like she'd just told him he was eating his mother's unborn child or something. ...

..

Not that a rabbit would have been related to the cub. She wasn't -that- stupid.

"Y'know, if you keep being mean you'll find someone who will smack you a ne-..."

There was a pause as Ashling seemed to notice the cub had scars on one side of his face, causing her to go -straight- back into her little 'AWW POOR THING' state of mind. Something -had- smacked him a new one! "Goodness! You already know that, though.." she pointed out, getting up slowly.

Satisfied in her silence, he had returned to his meal, rending the hare in half in his fury, devouring the hapless beast as messily and viciously as possible. Of course the silence could not last, no sooner had he taken the last bite than she spoke again, asking one of those stupid questions that mortals were all too inclined toward.

If he could have killed with a single look, surely she would have fallen on the spot, consumed in the hellish fire of his eyes. He was Tanaka, god of -conflict-, of course he was mean, that's what he was. There was no nice about it, ever.

"They could try."

Talons flexed to emphasize his point, tail lashing like a viper, fur ruffled in growing anger. He was aggressive, vicious, danger clearly proclaimed in the growl that parted his paw. Had he been larger, he would have sent any creature running, perhaps most intelligent creatures would have run even from the cub. It just so happened to be his luck that he stumbled across the one mortal who thought he was cute.

"Are you always so irritating?"

Stay away from me!

Tanaka used 'GTFAWAYFROMME' Leer.
....
.......
But it has no effect on Ashling!

Once she was up on her paws the seer watched as the little cub showed off his brawn, complete with a snarl and a display of his claws. Again, to her, it seemed like something a little cub would have done, so yet again her inability to be threatened by something so much smaller than her (or perhaps it was something on her genetic level). That and the idea that she could probably handle him if he tried to duke it out with her in his current state of being didn't bother her.

"Irritating?" she parroted, standing barely out of paw's reach of the cub while she glanced over his little body to check for anymore of those horrid little scars like he had on his face, concern plastered plainly on her face.

Yep. So threatened. In fact she was so threatened she walked well into Tanaka's attack-range, shoving her nose and mouth right into his face, earning him at least a light nuzzle before she would get her just reward with messing with something that had given her plenty of 'BACK THE HELL OFF' warnings.

His posture did not change, the snap of his tail inaudible over the growing growl, the bared fangs, lips drawn back in his snarl. The warning was clear, unmistakable, and yet it had gone unheeded.

"Get away from me--"

What the hell was wrong with her?! His words cut off by the creature who had dared approach him, dared to touch him. He was not some cute, cuddly cub!

It happened in a flash, spring to his paws, talons lashing out, slashing at whatever he could reach, striking at the nose and eyes that were far to close to his own. Stupid mortal, oh how he longed to tear her to shreds as he had that hare.

"Don't touch me!"

Had she actually thought it through, Ashling -might- have seen that coming. In fact, she should have been -surprised- she didn't see it coming. But instead she was more caught off guard that the little cub had actually attacked her to hiss and be angry that not only had he MAULED her face, he'd gotten half her face bad enough to leave a -pretty- set of claw makes down it.

She knew that they'd be a 'perma mark' since they burned like all hell (and were probably the most bloody of them), causing her to jerk away and instinctively set to licking her paw and rubbing the side of her face to try and lower the throbbing in it. Had her eye actually been open he probably could have (and would have, had he the chance) taken out some of her vision too.

However, upon opening the shut lid she found that first of all it hurt like a b***h to open, but overall she could still see. Once she was sure she was mostly uninjured, she turned her attention, suddenly less kind then before and a tad more vicious (oh it ran in the genes!) and swatted a single paw, no claws included, at the cub in an attempt to knock him over, a slight hiss accompanying it.

"I don't know who you're parents are, but that is -NO WAY- to treat someone who is trying to be nice to you!" she stated in as nice of an angry tone as could ever be made.

The aggression did not fade, the fury burning in his eyes, glaring at the creature as if he could burn through her very soul. Jaws snapped in a powerful bite, seeking to catch the paw that struck his shoulder.

"I am not here to be nice! If you want nice go see the god of fluffy puppies."

Stand on four paws, talons curled, fangs bared, wings ruffled with dark energy, his positively terrifying, a monster from the deepest abyss. Why didn't she see that? What was it with this lioness that kept her coming back instead of fleeing in terror?!

"Touch me again and I will kill you."

Oh how he longed to do so, how he would not have hesitated if she dared to push him further. Irritating creatures, how dare she try to lecture him! If only he had known the irony of the situation, damn his brother, damn him to the firey pits of HELL! Not a cub, not a cub, NOT A CUB!

God of fluffy puppies? The idea of gods made Ashling laugh disbelievingly. "If there were gods then mortals would have less significance in the world, now wouldn't they?" she pointed out in an almost bitter tone. Not in a way that was aimed at the little fluffy mass she was talking to.

Not even angry he'd just mauled her face now that she'd gotten the 'rawr' out of her system. The agression he was showing mirrored ever so slightly in her as she too flicked her tail back and forth, seeming to increase in volume at his threat to kill her, which she laughed lightly at.

"Well, you'll have plenty of chances to do that." she stated cryptically, standing again before she side-stepped the enraged cub, sizing him up (she was big, but somehow she felt that transporting an unwilling victim was going to be a pain in her a**.. or jaw. EITHER OR) mentally on a "HOW DO I GO ABOUT KIDNAPPING THIS?" for a moment, before she sighed a bit.

"Sorry kid, but you're best not left alone." she stated before she grabbed the cub by the scruff of his neck (a little more neck then scruff, however) and lifted him up with a bit of a jerk and turned to start walking out into the grass.

Now she had a mouth full of cub and no way to argue with the bugger. AH WELL. He was her concern now that she was lifting him off.

"I am a go--"

YOINK!

And suddenly he was off his paws, proclamation broken by a furious snarl, talons lashing, striking at whatever bit of flesh was within his reach, desperately longing to tear the stupid creature to tiny shreds. If he had been angry before, it was nothing compared to the rage that now burned through him.

"PUT ME DOWN, YOU IDIOT!!"

He yelled at her, snarling, thrashing within her grip as much as he could against the cubbish instincts to freeze when taken by the scruff. Stupid creature, he was not a cub! But she had him at a disadvantage, safe for now from the bite of his fangs, the slash of his talons. Oh if only he could have reached her, he would have shown her his full fury.

"I am not some stupid cub! Put me down!"

This was -not- turning out to be a good day, and if she thought he was going quietly with a 'cubnapper', she was sadly mistaken.

Had she not been carrying the angry, flailing, and screaming cub, Ashling probably world have said something witty-flowerer, it was difficult to speak around a mass of fluffiness known as her 'holding the little bugger up' handle.

Amongst all his yelling she growled around his fur and flesh, sinking her teeth a -little- more into the neck she was holding and taking care to hold him up above the grass as much as she possibly could, tail flicking irriatibly at the yelling of the cub. God, he was so -loud- and -violent-. Part of her wanted to say 'Firekin'.

"Ooo shhhup." she grumbled around him, knowing -very- well the little bugger wasn't going to shut up and probably would be provoked a -little- more at her mini-demand.

However, she wasn't exactly versed in an ability to discipline. She got the feeling she'd learn -rather- quickly with this one's temper.

Ashling didn't move too far away from the water hole with the cub in tow, the squirming preventing her from moving as freely as she would have liked to and taking more energy than needed because of it. Finding another tree some yards away, the lioness sat down and continued to hold the cub up.

God, he made her jaw hurt with all his squirming. Just needed to find some way to make him SIT STILL.
