Riley sat on the hardwood floor of the dance room, her legs spread as far as they could go. She reached for her left foot, pulling her body against her leg, so that her nose almost touched the floor.

As she slowly sat up straight, she realized she had left the door wide open. Deciding it just wasn't worth it to get up and close it, she streached out towards her right foot, pulling close again and exhaling slowly.

Click-clack. Click-clack. The black 'casual' high-heeled were rather loud on the tiled floor in the silence of the agency. Ana quickly began to regret wearing heels instead of flats, the sound of her footsteps began to even annoy herself. Stopping in the middle of the hallway, she leaned against a wall and took off her annoyingly loud shoes. During this time, she noticed a room she had never cared to peek into before: the dance room. The door of the room was left wide open as a woman stretched on the floor. Ana could hardly imagine herself stretching like that, she knew she wasn't anywhere near as flexible. Picking up her shoes, she leaned on the threshold of the door and watched the dancer, hoping not to be too of a distraction.

The dark haired dancer could hear the clack of the shoes echoing down the hallway. She prayed to whatever deity there was that this person wasn't thinking about walking on her dance floor in those things. She felt a small shiver go down her back at the thought of heel dents in the beautiful wood.

When it stopped, she breathed a silent sigh of relief.

She completed the last of her streching and rolled over onto her knees then up onto her feet. As she stood up, she noticed a young woman standing outside the door. The way she was dressed seemed very fashionable to Riley, the oversized sunglasses, the pretty shirt, and she was holding those troublesome shoes. She wondered who she was. Maybe an agent making sure they hadn't made a mistake?

Riley nodded quickly to her. Well, whoever she was, she wasn't going to tell her to go away. She had as much right to be here as she did, obviously, and the dancer would have to get used to an audience anyway. She knew she should be working on fundimentals, but she couldn't help show off. Going over to her CD player, she hit play.

They young girl went up on her toes, waiting for the music to start.

"Oh, are you going to dance for me?" asked Ana, a bit delighted, noticing the girl pressing a button on her CD player. Perhaps she shouldn't have said anything, she wouldn't want to be a rude or disrupting audience. She put down her shoes on the hallway floor and took a few steps into the room, hoping she wouldn't get in the girl's way later on in the dance. She leaned against the back corner of the room to watch the performance, rather excited to see it. She wasn't a dancer at all herself, she always admired the way dancers could move and twist their bodies. It was a beautiful visual fluid art to watch.

She couldn't help but giggle a little bit after hearing the question, but didn't answer, the first song had started. A fast paced techno song started up. Her feet seemed to move on their own beneath her as she completed several turns, going up and down on her toes, building up until she lept up in the air, throwing her legs out and then landing.

Riley's body flowed fast with the music, as she lept in the air and across the room. Her arms twirled wildly, but with purpose around her body as she moved. She ended by throwing her full weight into a turn, pulling her foot up above her head as she spun.

As she lowered her foot, she tested it gingerly, seeing if she was going to regret not starting out slowly, then took a quick bow.

From watching the dancer move, a childish giddiness took the best of Ana. Clapping her hands with her fingers pointed out so only the palms touch, Ana applauded the dancer with a wide cheesy, yet sincere, smile. "That was amazing!" she exclaimed, awestruck. "I didn't catch your name, are you new here? I haven't seen you around much. The name is Ana Cruz, I'm one of the models of the agency." She felt strange introducing herself that way. She wasn't that well known, not yet, at least. "I take it you are a dancer?" she teased with a faint laugh.

"Oh, thank you," Riley said, smiling shyly. Her voice carried a rich Egyptian accent. She had been working on speaking more clearly, but at times she lapsed. "Yeah, I'm new here, my name is Riley Daima." She extended her slender, dark hand to Ana. "Ooh, you're a model? She blushed faintly. No wonder she seemed so stylish!

Riley blinked, trying to look and sound as confused as possible. "Dancer? No....I'm a singer." She couldn't keep her face straight for long. "Yep, I am! I've been a dancer for as long as I can remember."

Ana took Riley's hand and gave it a light, feminine handshake. "Its a pleasure to meet you," she said with a smile, half-laughing at Riley's playful joke. "And thank you, I try to keep my looks up with the times." She raised an eyebrow, a bit curious about Riley. She had an accent, but couldn't quite place where it was from. "So where is that accent from, if I may ask? It is a beautiful accent."

"Oh, Cairo." She answered. "Egypt," the dancer clarified, assuming Ana knew where Cairo was, but, just in case...

Riley walked over to the long bar, which ran in front of the mirror and placed her hand on it. She lifted her foot behind her and grabbed her ankle with the other hand, putting as tight of a stretch on her leg as she could and leaned forward, reaching for her other foot.

"So you're a model?" Riley asked, looking up a little. "How long have you worked for the agency?" Frowning, she looked back down at the floor. "I'm sorry, I don't actually keep up on the fashion industry, so I guess even if the most famous model walked in, I probably wouldn't know her..." She laughed. "Well, what I mean is, have you done many shows...or, whatever they'd be called?"

Ana didn't know where Cairo was at first. But she know where Egypt was. It was in Asia. Right? Or maybe Africa. One of the two. Ana wasn't a dumb girl, but she was never that great with geography. She could tell plenty about her home country, Venezuela, and of course about the United States but that's about it really. "I've worked with the agency for a while now, I suppose. But I haven't really performed much. Though I was recently photographed for a photo shoot to be in Cosmo's summer fashion line, but the issue hasn't been released yet, I'm not quite sure how the results will go. Hopefully they will go ever well." She stopped for a moment. She didn't really like talking about her career. It usually seemed really boring and dull. Of course she was excited about the photo shoot, but she didn't want to brag. At least, not too much.

"How about yourself? Have you danced in a lot of shows?" asked Ana. Perhaps Riley was practicing for her next big performance. The thought intrigued Ana. She would have just gotten a sneak peek of the performance by watching a rehearsal!

"Cosmo?" Riley asked. "Isn't that the magazine with all the..." she stopped and blushed a little. "Er...They have a big fashion section near the back of the magazine right? They were for that?" Riley, like many other girls her age, had flipped through a cosmo magazine before, but she'd be lying if she said the fashion was the first thing she flipped to. "They always have so many interesting fashions in there, did you get to play in a bunch of new and fabulous clothes?"

The dancer shook her head. "And no, I was just practicing. I haven't gotten any shows yet, I really need to start auditioning for stuff, but having an almost private practice room has been too good to pass up and time just keeps slipping by."

Ana laughed as Riley blushed at the mention of Cosmo. "Yes, that magazine," she said with a friendly smile. "It has some interesting article in it, doesn't it?" She gave a little wink to Riley in effort to let her know there is nothing to be embarrassed about. "I got to try on a few clothes, its really cool to see all the upcoming fashionable styles before they are printed in the magazines." Ana had already purchased many of the clothes that would appear in the magazine. After all, she must keep up with the latest fashion!

Ana looked around the practice room a bit with a faint smile. "It must be nice coming in here every day and practicing," she said. "Its very quiet in here; very nice, very relaxing. Do you get lonely though, being in here all by yourself?" Ana was rather curious. She doesn't spend much time by herself, she prefers to be with someone at all times or in a large crowd. The more the merrier!

"Did they let you keep any of the clothes from your shoot, or did you have to give them back?" Riley had seen all the glamorus fashions on runways and at awards shows and she always wondered if the beautiful dresses were lent to promote the designer or given or bought.

She shook her head, pulling herself out of her thoughts.

"Oh, well...I don't know," she smiled thoughtfully. "I guess I hadn't really thought about it. It would depend on who I was with, really." She sourly recalled the catty girls from her old dance school. "I like having the room alone," She also liked that no one saw her wince in pain, when it was just too much. "But it does get pretty quiet. I miss the laughing."

She looked curiously at Ana. "How does a model... practice?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 15, 2008 5:40 pm

"I had to give back the clothes, but I get discounts if I do want to buy any of the clothes that I advertise," she said, having already made orders to get the clothes. Ana wasn't exactly sure what she did to practice. She posed in the mirror a lot to try practicing different looks, but she wasn't sure if that really counted as practice. Usually she just did whatever the photographer told her to do. "I suppose we models just practice by making sure we look good, keep up to date with fashion, what's in and what's out, develop a few signature poses and keep in shape...that sort of thing. Its not as..." Uh oh, big word coming up. "R-rid-rigorous of a routine as it is for dancing." She laughed a bit, both at her poor vocabulary skills and at the difference between models and dancers.

"Hmm...I bet sometimes it's just as tough," Riley said. She had always been one to be open to anything. She had even defended cheerleaders, saying it was a sport too. "I mean, you have to maintain your figure, like you said, which I know from personal experiance can be quite a task on it's own. And then, if you get to skinny, no ones interested and then..." she paused, laughing. "I'm babbling, sorry."

"Do you have any signature poses yet?"
