Safimoto watched for a moment as her father as he sat on the hill waiting for her aunt and cousins to show up. She lost interest soon, though and padded over to a tree away from the hill, but still in sight of her parents and aunt Matawi. It was nice and shady under the tree and she curled up beneath it, the shadows playing on her silver and gray coat. She smiled. "This is going to be loads of fun," she whispered to herself. Her parents didn't know she could talk, but she could. She just chose not to, at least for now. Listening, so far, was more fun than talking.

"Words? Since when Sweet Baby?" Matawi stood over her, smiling. It was doubtful that the cub even realized she'd been followed, let alone eaves dropped on. She smiled warmly at her little niece, happy to be away from the soon-to-be hectic aura of the family on a hill.
There were all ready so many mouths to feed and cubs. So crowded! It was nice to just sit and breathe her own air from time to time, but with Her own baby growing up and Kucha needing her eyes.

Safi jumped and looked guiltily at her aunt. "Oh... Uh-huh. I figured if I didn't talk, people wouldn't expect me to talk, and I could just listen and learn," she replied with a small smile. "You won't tell mummy and daddy, right?"

"Oh, of course not, Baby girl." Matawi was pleased with the way her mind worked. It was better fer her to go at her own pace than to be forced into something she was not ready for.
"You have a very loving, if not very large..." She couldn't help but chuckle, "Family. You take your time, sweetie. Your secret is safe with me." Her wise eyes stared at the little one. Safi was, more or less, the closest to the way Matawi was when she had been young. It was a nice remembrance, a nice reason to stay. She wouldn't let this one be alone and distraught. Ever.

Apparently, no one had noticed the fluffy white leopard dozing high up in the tree above the pair. Kucha's ears had twitched a little at the sound of voices, but he didn't react otherwise. But when he heard the honeyed voice of Matawi, he couldn't help but wake up a little. Opening his eyes was pointless, but he did anyway, as if trying to see her. His lips parted as he took in her scent, a smile splitting his maw. Focusing again, he realized that the other voice was unfamiliar, along with the owner's scent.
Kucha could tell it was a female cub, but the breed was difficult to determine. He had never smelled a hybrid before, and had no idea what to expect. But in order to make it clear to him, he rose and stretched a bit, then tumbled down the branches until he was almost on the ground.
The white leopard knew his pelt would likely be easy to spot (based on what others had told him), but he tentatively said, "Hello," as if they couldn't see him. After all, he couldn't see them.

Safi believed Auntie Matawi's words, knowing her secret was perfectly safe. She smiled and purred as she nuzzled against her aunt before looking up at the new leopard her Abu had told her had joined her family. He looked like he was staring off into space and that confused the little cheeton. She made a soft sound of confusion, turning back on the "No talking yet" mode and looked at her aunt for introductions and perhaps an explanation about him.

Matawi couldn't help but jump, she hadn't noticed Kucha up in the tree, she was still puzzled that her baby girl could talk. She quickly composed herself and gazed upwards, just staring at him, wondering how long he'd been there.
"Baby Girl," Matawi wrapped a large paw around Safi as she spoke, "This is Kucha. He is a leopard just like me..." She Paused, wondering if Safi had noticed his blank stare. The same stare that threw her off when she first met him. "Kucha is blind, and needs our family very much."
"Come down here, please, deary?" She asked, hopefully. It was probably better for the two of them to get acquainted as soon as possible. Or, rather, before more showed up. If anymore showed up. Which Matawi sincerely hoped against.

Kucha smiled warmly, trying to turn his head in the direction of the young cub based on the sound of her squeak. He hopped down from the tree and walked over to give Tawi a little nuzzle, a small purr in her throat. There was something so sweet and mothering about the leopardess, and he felt happier in her prescence. He then walked a little ways away and sat down, curling his tail neatly around his paws. He was still staring awkwardly, he knew, but there was no way out of it. He addressed Matawi, "Who is this little one?" Kucha spoke softly, as if afraid he'd scare the cub off. His ears tilted down at the cub, expecting her to introduce herself.

Safi watched the leo- Kucha, as he nuzzled her auntie and then sat down. He looked a little silly, sitting, but she imagined it was because he couldn't see. At least, that's what she thought being blind was. She could be wrong.
The little, fire-tipped cub padded towards him and looked up at him before lightly running her paw over the pristine white fur on his paw. She'd never seen fur that color; her family was made up by grays and blacks, with the occasional white on her mother, maroon on her twin brother and sister and the fire found on her father, brother, and herself. Sure, her mother's belly was white, but this male was white. All. Over. And that was fascinating.
Safi purred with her interest at the neat color.

Matawi purred and gave him a quick nuzzle before introducing the two. "This is Safi, She's my niece and has yet to learn to speak." She winked at her 'baby girl' and tried not to laugh about it. It was so silly how she already thought so logically for her very young age.
This time, she couldn't help but laugh. Safi was so absorbed with Kucha it seemed that nothing else mattered to her.
"I think she likes you, Kucha." She smiled, happy they were getting a long.

The white leopard flinched and almost jerked his paw back at the cub's touch. Kucha was afraid of unexpected movement or senses; he couldn't see what the problem was. She didn't feel frightening, but it was just unexpected. But when she started stroking his thick fur, he made himself relax. It was a little awkward, he had to admit, and he turned his head down at his paws, slight amusement playing on his face.
Kucha recalled the memory of a leopardess he had met long ago, whose name he couldn't even remember. She had felt sympathy for him for the unlucky color of white that graced his pelt. He didn't know what she meant, but it hurted him to have been sympathized with for simply the way he looked. He couldn't see himself and he couldn't care less. But to have been looked down upon by some leopardess witch for all the wrong reasons made him feel absolutely alienated.
...And then there was Matawi. She was kind enough to introduce him to her wonderful family, including Safi. With a smile, he said to the cub, "Hello Safi." Kucha chose not to comment on how she was mute. It was common knowledge that it took cubs a while to learn how to speak. Safi was no exception.
He raised the paw Safi had been stroking and put it on top of her head, waiting to see her reaction. He was shocked at how tiny she was. He couldn't remember meeting a cub before, and her smallness was a surprise.

Safi purred when he put his paw on her head, an ability she had inherited from her mother and moved under his paw, rubbing it down her back. She giggled again and weaved around his paws, deciding almost immediately that she liked this friend of her auntie. Someday, she might even talk with him, she considered as she looped around his paws a couple of times, the limberness of a dancer in her pawsteps.
Then she plopped down between his front paws and grinned at her aunti.

She giggled, watching the pair. His reactions to the smallest things surprised her. His actions weren't completely unreasonable, though. He could not have knows that she wanted to stroke his paws without seeing her. Safi and Kucha were cute, both naive and easily frightened by little things, even if there was nothing to fear at all.
Matawi bent down and cuddled with her niece, whispering quietly, "He is very sweet, do you agree?" She let her eyes drift up to him, making a silly face at him. He couldn't see it, but it still made her laugh to herself.

Kucha had to admit, it felt rather good to have the little cub weave through his legs. There was also a pleasant feeling of acceptance, something Kucha had always wished for. He could tell Safi liked him; Kucha knew that welcoming friends were always a plus in his world of uncertainty and darkness.
Suddenly he felt Matawi's presence as Safi sat down beneath him. His over-sensitive ears easily heard what she whispered to the cub, though he fiegned not hearing it. He simply smiled and bent his neck to sneak a quick, shy lick between the leopardess's ears.

Safi purred again and nodded at her aunt, refraining from actually speaking her approval of the leopard male. He was nice and warm and pretty. Even though she was young, she noticed things. How her Mama and Abu looked at each other and their little touches and nuzzles. She hadn't seen that with her aunti, and that made her wonder. Aunti needed someone to be that way with. Maybe this Kucha would fill that spot in. It'd be nice to have an uncle.
She chirped and giggled when Kucha leaned down and licked Aunti between the ears. It was definitely a start! The little cub giggled again and rubbed her head against the soft white leg to her right. Maybe she'd ask Aunti about it later on.
