Dory stood on the shore, hooves sinking slightly on the sea damp sand. She watched the tide drift in and out, coming ever closer as it did so. The breeze tugged her tail and mane and sniffed the salted air.
'What are you thinking about?' asked Squishy as the familiar approached her.
'Things..my bad memory mostly. If I'll ever have a family..like Ardia,' she said, remembering her friends name properly for once.
'You will.'
The vixen looked up at the mare, concern on her vulpine features.
'If you say so..' Dory was more solemn then she'd ever known her to be. She wondered what that stallion had said to her when they had gone off together for a bit, and she was curious to know if that was the reason Dory was introverted.
'Swafi..'
Squishy looked up in surprise.
'He...I still remember his name..' Dory look suprised at this, turning away from the incoming tide and wandering inland.
'He was weird.' complained Squishy as she padded alongside the Soquili.
Dory chuckled.
'He was nice...but he was weird too,' she admitted.
'And you remember his name..'
'Yes I do...I wrote his name in shells the morning after I saw him again. The human has been showing me her letters for making words. I made his name...well she said it out loud when I had finished putting the shells in the sand, and she cannot understand my words so I could not have told her..right?'
Dory was worried that she had forgotten that the human had known the word but the familiar agreed;
'The human doesnt know the language of the horses yet...you could not have told her.' she soothed.
'I was worried..' Dory said, a nervous smile on her soft mouth. As they strolled onto a more grassy area, Dory began to graze, worries forgot...but Swafi's name oddly was not. She wanted to see him again, and hoped she would. She had said to him that if she remembered him it was a good sign..and she hoped that by the time she saw him she still had his name in her memory.

Swafi was heading down the beach mainly for a run in the sea but the hope of seeing Dory was definatly there inside him somewhere if he would admit it or not. She would have forgotten his name and everything like always.
He kept his head down as he attempted to walk on the sand, still not use to the way it sunk under his hooves but in a mad desperate wave of enegry he made it to the waters edge where the sand seemed to always be harder. It confused him but he liked the water up against him it felt strangely nice.

Dory had filled her belly with grass, grazed enough and decided to wander back down towards the sea to watch the sun set as she often tried to do. She squinted into the dying sun rays, not able to see who it was standing in the foam of the tide until she had gotten nearer..she paused, looking at Swafi, her tail swishing with her nerves.
'Hey,' she said quietly as she clipped towards him, the sand making the familiar noise under her hooves as she moved closer.

The voice was instantly recognizable and he had this sick feeling in his stomach, this was something he didn't have normally. He turned his head slowly and sure enough there stood the blue frame of Dory. He bowed his head and smiled, "Hello Dory. Its a lovely day for a run in the sea!" He chuckled trying to avoid the subject of her remembering his name, she hadn't anyway so why was he hoping? Stupid head!
Sayuri_Nitta
Dory wondered how long she should string out not saying his name - but as she wasnt a cruel Soquili she decided to not tease him.
'It is a lovely day isnt it..Swafi,' she smiled a little, happy that his name had stayed in her memory.
'I like it here very much.' she looked out at the rolling waves, then back at the stallion.

Swafi didn't hear his name to begin with or maybe he just didn't aknowledge it either way he continued the conversation, "It is beautiful!" He smiled letting her words run over his mind, something he had been taught to do by Mahiri, make sure you dont miss anything important and it was then that he stood in shock, his body going slightly rigid and his head tilted slightly, he turned back to her. "Dory.... you remembered..." He was in total shock, after all he had spent every moment alone since that day telling himself she wouldn't remember! Now whats going to happen? He was once again confused.

'I think of it as my private place,' she said, the evening breeze tugging on her tail.
'But I'm happy you like it as well,' Dory grinned.
'Remembered...well yes. Squishy said that I would find a place in my heart for someone..and what the mind doesnt recall, the heart would supply.' she danced on the spot, hooves flashing in the low light, splashing the foam.
'Are you..happy that I remembered?'

Swafi wasn't sure what to say. His name was in her heart? How was that possible and what did it mean?"Yes I am happy, and to be honest shocked. I wasn't expecting it." He looked out at the sea, worried that what he had just said would have insulted her in some way or another. "What did Squishy think, when you said you could remember my name?" The grey stallion had a feeling that he wasn't liked much by the fox.
Sayuri_Nitta
'You thought I would forget?' she asked, walking along the shoreline a little. She danced on her hooves, forgetting for a moment that she had spoken then looking at Swafi carried on again.
'I thought I would..' Dory admitted.
'Squishy? Not alot..why?' she was confused, her soft nose crinkling expressively.

"Oh, I just get the feeling she doesn't like me too much." He let out a small nicker and looked at the shoreline, "Want to go for a run?" He smiled, hoping she would like the idea of running in the water.

Dory chuckled;
'Well.' Dory had gotten that feeling as well, but didnt want to dwell on it. It wasnt up to her familiar who she was friends..or more with.
'Sure,' she nodded, kicking up spray as she cantered a way down the shoreline.
'Wanna race?'

Swafi chuckled and rushed after her, "Sure, if you can accept loosing!" He chuckled and rushed off, letting the water spray up onto his body, it was a lovely feeling, the water on his side.

'Hah I hope your hungry, because you're going to eat my sand!' she giggled, legs stretched out at full gallop as they both tore across the beach. Dory loved the feeling of working her muscles, not talking any more as she concentrated on the movement, the rushing wind and her breathing. The curls in her mane and tail were pulled out as she ran, making them look longer then they normally did.

Swafi was running after, laughing maybe more then he should have done. He was a fast and proud horse, didn't like being beaten by a female! "You just wait Miss Dory!" He laughed!

Dory cleared a pile of sun bleached driftwood, hooves flashing as she hung in the air for the briefest of moments, before landing hard, spraying sand around her. She slowed to a canter, then turned and looked at Swafi racing to catch up, then sped off again laughing. She wasnt actually sure where they were racing to, but as the beach was thinning out towards the rocks soon, she thought that would be a good place to stop.

Kicking his hind legs out he was happy to be rushing after her, the sun, sand and sea, how perfect can you get? A dashing mare infront of him, oh he couldn't have been happier, he wasn't even trying to beat her now though, maybe it would be better if she won, make her happy!
Sayuri_Nitta
Dory slowed to a canter, her sides heaving, sweat on her flanks. They had almost reached the rocks, not a place to rush headlong at for fear of catching a hoof and turning an ankle on the hidden stones in the sand. She blew breath out hard, letting the evening air cool her down as she waited for Swafi to catch up.

Swafi slowed down and caught her up, "Honestly, slowing down to let me win? Now, what kind of race is that?" He teased, a little smile crawling across his face. He liked Dory alot, but that wasn't something to be voiced. Feelings were for the inside, not out.
Sayuri_Nitta
'I wasn't slowing because of that.'
Wrinkled appeared on Dory's brow as she struggled to remember why she'd halted. Then the memory presented itself as a hoof knocked on a half sand-covered, water smoothed stone.
'The stones,' she explained.
'We could turn an ankle racing on those,' she gazed towards the horizon, the sun having almost set by now. The fine clouds in the sky were tinted red.
'It's getting late,' she commented, looking at the stallion. That meant he would probably be leaving again. She felt..a little sad at that.

He looked at the sky and smiled. "Sunsets are beautiful, as are you. Maybe we could just walk back along the beach so the two beauties can unite." He smiled in his little way that he did sometimes. He was a sneeky guy, there was no doubt about it! He loved to say truthful things, maybe thats why he could get away with calling adorable girls like Dory that they are beautiful without falling for them in an emotional way, but yet, Dory was somewhat different and there was indeed an emotional attachment!
Sayuri_Nitta
Was that a compliment? She guessed it was.
'Oh..' she replied, at a loss to what to say.
'Okay, we'll walk back along the beach,' Dory dipped her head a little, turning, and clipping slowly back along the sands. Her thoughts were complicated for her, mulling over all that had happened. She was happy, but very very confused. After all, where was the point that friendship became something more? She'd had no experience of this - so what if she missed the chance? She let out a long sigh, ears flicking as she paused to look at Swafi.

Swafi trotted around her in a few circles, he was happy to be around her and even though she had a bad memory, she remembered him and that was something. He wouldn't show his feelings though, he couldn't it would be stupid, wouldn't it? Of course it would!

(( Wanna free my journal up now really XD ))
The sun had set fully before Dory turned to look at Swafi again, the last remnants on the light making the colours of her pelt glow a little.
'I should be going back to the Village,' she said, blowing air through her nostrils.
'Squishy will come looking for me soon, we always sleep together near the great fire.'

Swafi nodded sadly, not wanting her to go. He rubbed against her body and smiled, "Good night." He didn't want to go but then what choice did he have? She was right the little fox would want her, and the little fox didn't like him!

'I hope I will see you soon,' Dory said, trying to keep her voice light, especially after he had brushed against her. With those words she clipped away, heading for the Village..well possibly anyway.
