For those of you who don't know, I run an Anime Club in Minneapolis that shows cartoons of all sorts every Saturday night. Or most of them anyway. I do have a life. And that life have been extremely hectic this past summer for a variety of reasons I have no intention of airing out in public. Suffice to say, I find myself with my last year on the board and my collection of "new" is very slim. Most of my summer was spent ignoring anime and what I did get my hands on isn't recent. I collected all the old favorites (Saint Seiya, Souryuuden, etc) because I didn't have time to look for what's new and shiney, and because my nostalgia sense was tingling. So. I'm now asking everyone to list the latest and greatest anime (of any country's origin, we show everything from Full Metal Alchemist to Asterix to Batman) you know of. Something within the past year or two. No older than two years please, unless it's so amazingly good we'd be a fool not to watch it. Suggest anything at all. We show all genres and since it's an 18+ crowd, we don't need to restrain ourselves. Yaoi is fine. Hentai is not. The only rule is "if it's on Cartoon Network, it's not on our screen." This is purely to avoid repetativeness. If I can download it, great! If I have to buy it, that's fine too. We got ourselves a budget this year with a full $500 to spend on disks this semester alone (discs later donated to the school library). This is used to keep us in advertisements and cartoons, and occassionally provide popcorn for the crowd.

Available in the US: Cromartie High School - More random than Exel Saga, and funny as hell. This is the story of a school legendary for the belligerence and stupidity of its students as well as the strangeness of several. In addition to the usual cast of thugs, there are Mechazawa, Freddie Mercury, and a massive ape.
Gad Guard - Just plain awesome. I can't really sum it up, but the style and music are incredible.
Fansubs: Nabs mentioned Rozen Maiden, I agree. I add Honey & Clover to the mix. This is a truely awesome show, as well as pretty damn unique. I reccomend the Solar fansub over the C1 fansub, but Solar is stuck on 17 while C1 has made it to 20 as of this weel. This slice of life show featuring the lives of several fairly regular art school students can and will make you laugh and cry during the same episode several times. I'm sure a bunch of the people around here will vouch for me on this show.
Beck - The story of a totally normal group of teenagers coming together to form a rock band. Trust me, this is hot s**t. The manga is already over here through Tokyopop, and I have faith that the show may follow it.

If you're in the Minneapolis area, drop by, we're open to the public.
So far the list of what we'll show comprises of:
Rozen Maiden Honey & Clover (which is schedualed for the week after next) Beck (really digging this one, thanks Stream) Gad Guard Cromartie High School Advent Children Yakate Japan Victorian Romance Emma Mind Games Loveless Sukisyo Batman Beyond JLU Batman: TAS Asterix the Movie Unico Monster Wonderful Days Twilight Q Daria Glass Mask Otogizoushi Miene Liebe Harukanaru Toki no Naka de
We've already shown: Bleach 12 Kingdoms Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker Gankutsuou Mai Hime Anything that's been on CN in the past five years, we've shown, and usually showed it first (FMA is an example of a series we got halfway through before they showed that) The list is a lot longer, but I don't have it with me and can't remember most of them.
Also, does anyone know if the RahXephon movie is any good? And if anyone can recommend any good horror for Halloween. I've already got Cosette down, and probably Yami No Matsuei.

I'd have to say that a lot of the best horror shows are older stuff like the Mermaid saga and Oni Slayer.

Gilgamesh. The look and feel of it are tremendous, think X, but with more of a noir feel and more original character designs. I love it.
Also, I don't know if you've shown these yet but I'm just rattling off titles now
Chrono Crusade Read or Die- The TV Martian Successor Nadesico (GEKIGANGAR III!!!!!) Basilisk ummm...
Pokemon Inuyasha Sailor Moon AND ALL THE MOVIES OMFG!
Disregard the last three...
good luck! I run an anime club at my school too, so...yeah. Fun!

Ring Ni Kakero and Eye Shield 21 might be good choices. Ring Ni Kakero is about boxing, and Eye Shield 21 is about football, but you don't have to be fans of the sport to enjoy the shows.
