The Dragon's Dance By Myself
The great Dragon stands on a hill.
His bright green scales fade to vibrant fall colors.
His horns and claws reflect the bare trees.
He smiles and shows his teeth, his dance can now begin.
Summer is over, but fall is just beginning.
He launches himself into the air, his dead scales fall to the earth far below.
He playfully blows fire and stray sparks ignite the leaves below.
Then he lands and pushes leaves in a giant pile.
He spreads his giant wings and leaps into the air.
He folds his wings to his sides and dives into the leaves and sends them flying.
Then he flies, flies, flies and looks over the land.
He sees vibrant fall colors and fall things, his favorite time of the year is now here. No more hot drowsy days, no more time wasted in his cave. Now there are only cool pleasant days.
He concludes his dance for the sun is about to set.
Now he waits, waits, waits, to enjoy fall and the feathery white flakes of snow.
