I'm just gonna spout off and blab... since I really haven't started a rant, q/a, etc. in a long while...

Well... I watched Sweeny Todd tonight... If I had been told it was a musical, I wouldn't have watched it... I'm glad no one told me... FRIGGIN' HILARIOUS! And blood... lots and lots of blood. And pies! And cold, dark, twisted REVENGE! ^___^ So, I can now say that I actually liked a musical... o_o( )

Letsee... what else. Well, I haven't really done much with my electronics lately... thus, I haven't imperiled my life, or limb for that matter, with my soldering iron... No idea how long that'll last though. ^_^

That... and buy.com did a pc mod kit free with rebates a while ago... two rebates... and the ******** company is gonna honor one, but not the other... bleh. Just guess I'll take what I can get and never go and buy stuff offa buy.com again. Instructions my a**, from what I hear, they've made it a point to deny perfectly well filled out ones... >_>( )

Hmmm... Oh, and my college stuffs is going well... Don't know if I said it, but now I've got my AA degree... and think I've settled for going for a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics... (That's a BS degree in Physics... LOL!) All I think I've left to do to iron out my transfer is to figure out my housing... I think I'm gonna live on campus, but that may change...

Oh, and Sibby's still pessimistic about future relationships, seeing as how after... 22 years... no girl, no hanky-panky, not even a kiss... x_o Bah, curse all the shows and stuff with pretty girls... curse the pretty girls that come to my work wanting car help, curse the pretty girls... CURSE 'EM! T__T >_>( ) Oh, and did I mention that Sibby's a sucker for frilly things on girls? Yeah... That... and those dresses with the... er... not layers.. but that look like bands of fabric, kinda lightweight... better yet, google image search to the rescue! Dresses like these: Okay... google hates me for a change... I'll do a drawing... x_o Here we go! Anyways, yeah, Sibby's a BIG sucker for those... See, even though he's a romantic at heart, and probably wouldn't let a girl he didn't know (pretty much every girl) get too close... with one of those... he wouldn't stand a chance.... x_x

Oh, and I ordered a green laser offa ebay... it should be getting here soon... and I've already plans to mod the "brighter" (since the eye can see green light better than red, it looks brighter than a similarly powered red one) green laser to something even more brighter... Illegal laser pointer? HELL YEAH!

Oh, actually... I'ma have to take what I said about not messing with my soldering iron back... See, I got two routers from the local thrift store (one wireless and one not)... they both were broke... but I was wondering if I could use the better antenna with my wireless card in my compy... I pull it outta my compy... mess with it a little to see what it'd take... SNAP! The current antenna broke off... yay, guess that means I dun have any choice now... I soldered a tv coax cable to the card, pulled the antenna from the router... with some solder, electrical tape, aluminum foil, and many, many curse words, I have an antenna that was better than what was on it before... ^-^( )

And I have a box of pizza that needs to be put away... better go post this and put it away now... o.o( )

Yeah... about that green laser...

See, I got it, played with it, and it was awesome...

I mean, I can see the actual "beam" inside my house... and it was completely awesome in a dark room... it'd reach up to the stars at night...

But, and it was only 5mw... and I already had plans before I got it... just look up a "pot mod" on google...

Anyways, I didn't even have it for 6 hours before I decided... it's time...

Took me a damn hour to open, and scratched up the finish.. to find no pot...

T__T

But, I kept looking online, and found another mod, to do with a regulating circuit... (after a day, the laser sitting disassembled...) and did it.. it made it a little brighter... then it started going in and out... and something shook inside...

I pop it open again, nothing looks loose... then I shook the "main part" while it was disassembled... and something inside the colminating (sp?) tube shook...

CRAP...

So, I actually went and opened that up, and the piece that holds the crystal in place came out (Green laser = IR laser diode + frequency doubling crystal)... so I mess with it... and no more green glow.

T______T

I am not kidding, I really want to cry. It's almost as depressing as my relationship woes... or woes of lack thereof...

So... I ordered another offa ebay...

Of course, gotta wait another 2 weeks or so for the damn thing to get over here from Hong Kong...

Now, for the old, broken one... heh, I'm not done with it yet...

Remember, how I said the green laser is a crystal pumped by a IR laser diode (er, IR beam goes into crystal, comes out green)... Well, for one, the IR beam is more powerful than the green one (crystal isn't 100% efficient)... and is invisible... and able to be focused with the same lenses...

Meaning... I can make a invisible laser, probably capable of burning stuff (or at least capable of burning out people's eyes, and temp. blinding cameras... *most CCD cameras pick up IR light easily, just test your webcam with a remote control... o.o*) So, yeah, all is not lost...

But still... my laser! Dead! T______T

And Insom, it's not a specific age thing or anything... just... I've LONG since passed the stage where I'd at least like to do something with a girl, and haven't even come close... I'm not even asking for anything too serious (though I probably wouldn't mind at all!), but just... meh. Just feels like I'm missing out... and by where I am now... I'm kinda losing hope. ._.

Meh... emo post. x__x And make the pretty, pretty girls go away! They depress me... ._.( )

So, as you can see, my camera has no macro lens... oh well... anyways, the stuff in this pic is (top left) button *to press switch on main board*, (top right) bottom half of case, (bottom right) top half of case, (bottom) 2 batteries *duh*, (bottom left) head of laser *just a hollow tube to protect the laser, think of it as part of the case*, (middle right) black o-ring thingy *keeps battery connector on board from shorting on case*, (middle) main board *has circuitry to drive laser diode, the switch, and the diode itself attached on the left of it*, (middle top) ya can't really see it, but that brass thingy has a small notch in it, cut to the middle, and in it is the crystal I spoke of... it's really tiny... could barely see it with my naked eye... *, (left middle) the collminating tube with lens inside *the crystal and diode go in here too...*

Okay, so it's not really a mini light saber... it's a salvaged ccfl tube & circuitry from a scanner (and I have more too, that I have plans for!)... thought it looks cool... Well, in this pic it doesn't but the other two look better... and it's not that horribly bright IRL... but it's still pretty damn bright... ^_^
