It helped that Antony was obsessive compulsive, Rudolfo found as he stopped in front of the apartment building where he was supposed to be staying for the next week. He even had the apartment number underlined, all in his handy little schedule book that Rudolfo had found in the front pocket of his bag.
He was looking at the snake on the cover of the book curiously as he waited for the Garcia family to respond and buzz him in. The book was extremely interesting. It had facts about several people, along with their phone numbers and contact information. That included all of Shade's information, such as his work number, his home number, his address, and a schedule of where he could be found at any time.
Why the boy was so obsessed with knowing where his father with, Rudolfo had no idea. But it would come in handy.

It took endless minutes before a window five stories up flew open and a touseled golden head poked itself out. "Hey! Hey, Antony!" Ignacio nearly fell out of the window, waving and grinning from ear to ear. "Just push on the door. Dad's buzzered it."

"Oh, ah, thanks, Ignacio!" "Antony" called up, waving back at him. "I'll do that!" He reached forward, pushing the door open and heading for the stairs. Then he paused, wondering if Antony would climb the stairs or take the elevator.
With his OCD nature, though, no doubt the boy would refuse to get sweaty. He headed for the elevator, pushing in the button for the fifth floor.

When the elevator pinged and opened, he found the door to the apartment just down the hall already open and welcoming. Ignacio stood there with the same huge smile and beckoned his friend onwards. "Come on," he ordered. "This is gonna be great. Dad's so cool about this kind of thing."

"He doesn't mind, does he?" Rudolfo asked with a little smile. "I mean, all of a sudden me coming over and staying--" Which he figured was all of a sudden. Or at least maybe Antony would call it that.
Antony wasn't talking at the moment. He had finally gotten Rudolfo to design an obstacle course for his "game."

"Nah, it's not big deal. He's not even around that much lately." Ignacio shrugged and lead the way further into the apartment. He flopped in a graceful sprawl across the one end of the couch and shook his head. "He's workin' lots of hours at the shop an' then he goes out lookin' at apartments. He wants to move somewhere bigger. I'm not complain', though. It'd be cool. Riley said there's a place across the street from her. I wanna see if we can move there."

"That would be good," Rudolfo said. "Riley's extremely cute, isn't she?" He still didn't understand why Antony hadn't wanted the girl as his princess. It made much more sense than the blonde! At least Antony was close enough to Riley as to have a chance.
(Or so he thought in his Rudolfo manner.)

That earned a whole lot of blinking from Ignacio and the other teenager slowly pushed himself up into a sitting position. He cocked his head to one side. Finally, he shrugged. "I dunno. She's Riley. Maybe she's cute. Dunno." He shrugged once more. "She's my amiga."

Yet another strange response to the fact that Riley was cute. Rudolfo sighed inwardly as he sat down on a chair, crossing one ankle over his other knee. "Well, ah... that would be good, then, since she's your amiga." What in the hell was an "amiga?" It wasn't in Antony's language, that was for sure.
He tried asking Antony, only to get yelled at for interrupting the fight over the pit of rabid alligators. So he gave up and just pretended that he understood. "So... what shall we do?"

"I dunno." Ignacio relaxed back into his slouch. "I figured we could just hang out. I'm learning to cook some things so, if Dad's not home and you get hungry, let me know. I can make us something." His infectious grin lit his face again, white against the brown of his deep tan. "And it won't even be microwaveable. I can make melted cheese sandwiches and eggs."

"That's quite an accomplishment." No doubt Antony knew how to cook perfectly, since he did everything else perfectly, he thought. But he wasn't going to try. He'd probably give himself away for sure if he did it wrong.
He had no idea that Antony couldn't boil water, much less outdo a cheese sandwich and eggs. "So, Ignacio... do you like my dad?"

"Shade?" Again Ignacio blinked and his open, expressive face reflected increasing confusion - maybe even a little unease. "Yeah, he's really cool. Him and Jack are cool dads. They don't mind anything. I mean, my dad's cooler but that's mostly 'cause he's my dad." He grinned, confusion pushed aside in the classic Iggy manner; if you couldn't understand something, ignore it until you could. "I'm trying to get him to tat me."
