Seth sat upon a blanket in a meadow, the flowers randomly distributed across the area. The sun was high in the sky, the temperature was neither too warm nor too cold, and there weren't so many clouds in the sky to threaten rain. He waited for Tama to arrive, having asked her to come to this location a couple days prior. He hoped that she would like the food he had brought with him, sitting in a basket to his right. He was getting somewhat annoyed at the wind for constantly blowing the blanket upon itself, making him have to fix it. He did so diligently though, all the while looking around for some sort of stone he could use to weight the corners down.

Tama was walking through the forest, without a book. Normally this small fact would have disappointed her, but she was going to meet Seth. She had been within an inch of bringing one anyway, when it occured to her that it was inexcusably rude to bring a book on a date. Sighing, she had tucked the book back in its place and set off.

And now she was at a meadow with sporadic flowers, perfect temperature, just enough clouds, and a slight breeze, ideal reading weath- . . . Er, date weather! Yes, that's what she meant! She glanced around, looking for Seth, and when she found him, she couldn't help but giggle at the sight he made.

Seth had just finished forcing one corner down when he heard a familiar giggle. He looked up to see Tama and smiled, saying, "Hello!" The wind picked up, causing the corner of the blanket to rise up and smack his face. Slightly embarrassed, Seth brought it back down, asking, "Don't suppose you found any rocks on the way here?"

Tama's giggles turned to full out laughter when the blanket smacked his face. "H-hi," she gasped out between laughs, futilely trying to control herself. "N-no, I don't -laugh- think I ha-" she paused at that, realizing something rather embarassing.

She may have thought she had tucked the book back, but what she had really done was unconsciously carry it with her. She blushed, holding out the hardcover. "This'll probably work as well," she muttered, not looking directly at him.

Seth took the book and set it down on the misbehaving corner. "Good thing you brought it!" He said happily. He happened to have a book in the picnic basket that was placed on another bad corner, but that was being saved for a surprise.

Tama shrugged, blushing. "I guess bringing one everywhere had to have a plus," she said, slowly getting over her embarassment. After all, she reasoned mentally, if she didn't read it, and it spent the duration of the date making sure the blanket behaved, then it didn't count as bringing a book on a date. She glanced at the picnic basket, curious. "What did you bring?"

Seth opened up the picnic basket, which had assorted snacks in it. "I brought sandwiches, a couple of apples, a bag of carrots, and 2 thermos' of water." He left out the books. He also might have left out a couple of other things he just couldn't recall and were hidden from sight.

Tama smiled. "Healthy," she observed. "What kind of sandwiches?" she asked, curious. Whatever it was, she'd eat it; after all, that was only the polite thing to do. However, this being Seth, it was more likely to be something she would enjoy.

"They're chicken salad sandwhiches. Your favorite, right?" He happened to like them too, though they weren't necessarily his favorite. Seth was lucky that Sara had gotten the right ingredients to make them, otherwise he'd have to settle for peanut butter and fluff.
