Balamb Garden. The primary training academy for the elite mercenary force SeeD. Like the other two Gardens, Balamb is a redesigned mobile Centra shelter housed on Balamb Isle.

Balamb Garden's main entrance is at the south end of the building. The gate leads along a tiled path to the actual Garden. This path is well-maintained and surrounded by lush plants to add to the natural feeling that the Garden wishes to inspire.

Just inside Balamb Garden itself sits the gatehouse, a small 7x10 box with a glass window wherein sits an old man from Balamb who works in Garden for a living. He's pretty friendly, and quite boastful when it comes to his Triple Triad skills. Outside his guard house are the turnstiles. Pass through them and you are officially inside Garden.

The first thing you would notice is the raised rotunda over a large pool approximately three feet deep that runs throughout the first floor of Garden, and trails into the separate areas of the Garden.

Directly ahead of you is the Directory, which will point you in the various directions to go for certain things. Behind you, obviously, is the main entrance. On your right, southeast of you, is the library. North of that, the training center. North of that, the parking lot. To your left, southwest of you, is the infirmary. North of that, the Quad. North of that, is the cafeteria. Straight in front of you is the central pillar that houses the elevators that lead up to the second floor's classrooms, training room, and armory, and the third floor's headmaster's office. On the far side of the central pillar is the dormitory.

Library
The library has a large selection of books ranging from instructional textbooks to help cadets in their studies, history books on the history of the world and stuff, weapons books for SeeDs to learn about new weapons they may be considering or potentially run up against in combat. There's also a growing fiction/romance section for pure entertainment. There's a reading room in the back of the library where you can sit and read your books, or you can check them out and read around Garden. Obey the library rules:

1. No loud talking
2. Respect others
3. Help any junior classmen who need it.

Training Center
The training center is the only Garden facility that's open at night. Here you can train yourself against real monsters, so be careful or you might end up dead. The most common monsters found in the training center are Grats and T-Rexaurs, though an occasional Granaldo may be seen. T-Rexaurs are a monster that you should run from, unless you are in a large party and can mob it. Status-changing magic is also suggested.

There's also a "secret area" in the back of the training center that leads out into the forest behind Garden. Here, you can get a spectacular view of the nighttime Garden, and it's a place where couples like to meet after lights-out. (Keep Gaia's PG-13 rule in mind here, kids...)

Parking Lot
The parking lot is where Garden vehicles are stored, and where the students who commute can park their vehicles. In light of the acquisition of the Ragnarok, a second level has been added to accomodate the airship. The airship is only available to use for SeeDs deploying on missions, and they will have a pilot not in their party deliver them to their mission, and return the Ragnarok to the Garden.

Infirmary
The resident physician of the infirmary is Dr. Kadowaki. She is an excellent physician, as well as a challenging Triple Triad player. Currently, Balamb Garden has no psychiatric facilities available, though a future expansion will generate such facilities for student use.

Quad
The Quad is where the Garden Festivals are housed. It's divided into the Inner Quad and Outer Quad, both of which are open to the outside world, providing students with a wonderful place to study and socialize in fresh air without ever leaving Garden.

Cafeteria
The cafeteria is considered the "hang out" spot of Balamb Garden. With the exception of during classes, you can always find at least one group of students socializing in the cafeteria. Students have their choice of the inner cafeteria area, or the outer area on the patio. Combined together, the two dining areas have enough seats to fit the entire student, SeeD, and staff population of Garden. Garden's food is always exceptional, but the hot dogs are in great demand, and often run out the first five minutes of a lunch period. It's best to get there early.

Dormitory
The vast majority of Garden's students live there, with very few commuting to and from Balamb. The dormitories at Balamb Garden are divided four ways: SeeD, student, male, and female. Male and female dorms are identical, the only differences lying in the SeeD and student dorms.

Student dorms are duplex dorms with a single commons area and bathroom shared between them. Students are allowed to customize their individual dorm rooms however they wish, so long as they are not violating Garden regulations.

SeeD dorms are the same size as student dorms, only they're singular. Each SeeD has his or her own bedroom, commons area, bathroom, and small kitchen. Once again, personal customization is allowed so long as it's within Garden regulations.

Classrooms
Classrooms are located on the second floor. There are close to fifty classrooms, and every subject from basic reading to advanced chemical physics is taught at Garden. The wide range of subjects is a direct result of the fact that Garden teaches students from the age of 5, all the way up to 20. Also included in the courses are such things as combat tactics and leadership skills, weapons and magic integration, and GF knowledge and upkeep. Each classroom has twenty seats in it, and these seats are actually the computer terminal system that connects into the Garden computer system. From there, one can access tutorials on basic combat and GF knowledge, access the Garden Square, Balamb Garden's own message board, and access the Garden Festival page.

Training Room
The training room, located on the second floor above the training center, is where students can spar against one another in friendly duels to test their skills. Also located in the training room is a shooting range. As a result of the casualties received in the Battle of Centra, all students are encouraged to receive marksman status in at least one firearm. Students can either bring their own weapon, or check out a weapon from the armory next to the training room.

Armory
Here is where students who don't own a person weapon can borrow one for training or missions. Weapons here range from swords and maces to rifles and machine guns. Any weapon checked out from the armory must be returned within a week.

Headmaster's Office
The third floor is accessible only by high-ranking SeeDs or by invite from the headmaster. The third floor is lavishly-appointed, with hardwood floords and red carpets, as well as solid-oak doors. Inside, however, the headmaster's office is more spartan, which a modest desk usually stacked with mission reports, large plate-glass windows stretching another story high, and a few trophy cases off to the side bearing some of the headmaster's favorite memories. This is where you'll come when you make SeeD, and you could possibly be assigned special missions here.

Irvine Kinneas was at the shooting range in the training room. He was holding Valiant with both hands, aiming at a target that was about 60 meters away. The cylinder revolved when he pulled the trigger. A small flash emitted from the barrel as the cartridge shot out. When the cartridge made contact with the target, it left a 2" wide hole in the torso. Irvine took aim again.

Zell Dincht was also at the training room, he however was off running around the sparring area asking for someone to spar with, no one seemed to wanna fight him in hand to hand combat and as usual when no one paid attention to Zell he cursed and ranted.

"Damnit! After all this waiting for a new training ar-" Zell stopped short as he spotted Irvine out of the corner of his eye and just about jumped over a student to get to him

"Hey! Kinneas! You up for alittle one on one?" Zell got into his fighting stance while jumping back and forth like a hyperactive toddler, his Metal Knuckles where on and a large grin was plastered on his face.

"Come on Cowboy lets see what you got, you up for a round with SeeD's greatest?"

( Weee, we can finaly start IC posting ... *Punches himself in the face* Yay for basic items on! Metal Knuckle = Zell's weapon when you first get him, I wan't everyone to remmber to use there basic weapon ... please? sweatdrop )

Irvine turned and grinned at Zell. He reminded Irvine of a child hyped up on soda. He almost laughed, but resisted.

"No thanks."

He paused, then asked something.

"You seen Selphie around lately?"

Irvine was bored, and every other chick had slapped him when he hit on them.

Zell just sighed and fell to the floor legs crossed

"Damnit ..." he cursed under his breath then looked up and shook his head before speaking once more.

"Not lately, mite wanna check the Quad though, she'll probly be there trying to plan the next 'Celebration of the Celebration of the Last Celebration'." Zell grinned just then and jumped back up. Within afew seconds he was running after a group of students that had just entered the training area while yelling out "Hey you need a sparring partner!?"

Squall Leonhart made his way down the Garden's central rotunda, clad in his normal black, leather attire. As he passed by the pathway to the cafeteria, he stopped and looked in that direction. He could already see a line forming all the way out into the hall. He looked down at his watch. Dinner had started fifteen minutes ago. He shook his head.

"Fifteen minutes, and the line is that long... I guess I'll have to wait until later to get food."

With that thought, he headed back toward the dormitory, looking to grab his gunblade and make his way on over to the training center.

Zell sighed as he sat there with his legs crossed now, still no luck. His fists hit the floor hard and he let out out a series of curses that no one could hear, not only had he not found any sparring partners he hadent had anything to eat yet.

"Hoooot...dooogs..." Zell groaned as he layed on his back in the middle of the room. He was thinking of those wonderful hotdogs, he would kill for those things ...

Irvine quickly finished off the rest of the clip by pulling the trigger as fast as he could. The entire target was decimated. There were even some chunks of it on the floor. Poor piece of cardboard...

He slammed the cylinder outward and shook his shotgun/rifle until the empty casings fell out. Irvine started walking out of the training area, reloading bullet-by-bullet as he went. He slammed the cylinder shut and put the weapon's barrel against his shoulder.

He walked out of the training area and headed to the Quad to flirt with Selphie or some other hot chick.

(That was assuming that the cylinder in his shotgun holds the bullets.)

Squall entered the training center, Revolver already out, slung over his right shoulder, waiting for the inevitable conflict.

He pushed open the door leading into the training area on his left, his senses automatically going into battle mode, alert for the slightest out of place sound or sight.

Stopping in the middle of the area, he slowly shifted his left leg out to the side, bringing his gunblade in front of him and taking it in a double-handed grip. He waited, listening to the sounds of the training center around him.

Irvine was at the quad, looking around to see if Selphie was there. So far, he had only seen chicks, a transvestite, and a coupla SeeD Cadets. The transvestite winking at him had scarred Irvine's memory in an unpleasant way.

Valiant was in some sort of leather holster that was meant for a Colt .45 attatched to the right side of his belt. Only Irvine had widened it so that Valiant could fit in it down to the cylinder and had cut the bottom out so the barrel would fit through.

After a few more minutes, Irvine gave up completely. He sighed and walked towards a group of chattering women, intending hit on them and NOT be called a 'pervert', 'loser', or be smacked.

Zell was in the Training Room still, he had decided that a round of Shadow Boxing was better then groaning over how hungry he was. As usual he was jumping up and down while punching the air around him, Seifer would probly have asked if he was swatting flies.

"Damn Seifer ..." Zell grumbled and just stopped dead in his tracks as abunch of people where staring at him. He waved and they just sorta stared more. With that Zell walked out of the Training Room backwards slowly then all out ran towards the elevator, what had they never seen a person trying to a fight air?

( *Insert Seifer entrance soon?* xp )

Irvine walked away from the group. He turned and waved.

"See ya at 9 then!"

Irvine turned back around and started walking away...

As soon as he was out of sight and hearing range of the group, Irvine did a 70's-stlye pelvic thrust.

"Irvine Junior's gonna get some action tonight, baby!"

( stare at Raven.

as for Seifer, gonna have to ask him about that)

There!

In one fluid motion, Squall spun to his left and leapt forward, Revolver floating free in his right hand as he literally flew toward the Grat, which was itself surprised by the human's anticipation of its attempted ambush.

As the distance between them closed, Squall brought his gunblade back over his head, his left hand coming up to grasp it fully as his right index finger snaked forward, around the trigger. He began to swing the blade down toward the Grat.

Half a second later, his feet hit the ground at the same time his blade hit the top of the Grat's head. The instant he felt the resistance from the Grat, he squeezed his finger back against the trigger. The resulting explosion within the blade forced Revolver down at a much faster rate than Squall himself could manage, while simultaneously generating a shockwave that turned the Grat's insides to goo. Well, moreso...

The Grat splits down the middle like a ripe melon, splattering green entrails within a ten foot radius, and onto Squall as well. He stood up, letting the gunblade hang limply from his right hand, as he used his left to gently pick off a few of the entrails, a disgusted look resting firmly on his face.

(That was cold... Just cold... By the way, that was a joke post.)

Irvine walked away from the group. He was muttering under his breath about something as he headed to the dormitories for some sleep...

(what? totally 0wn1ng that Grat? it happens, mang)

Flicking Revolver to the side to remove the entrails, he turned and continued walking, shifting around the junctions in his mind so that he can cast magic. He also left himself the ability to summon a GF, in the rare case that he run into a T-Rexaur.
