Hey all. Long time no see.
I was wondering if you guys could help me out with something.
First off, which version of the Bible does the Catholic religion follow?
Second, does anyone know if that particular version mentions any other religions? The verse I'm thinking about has something to do with Having other sheep that He must visit. I don't know it word for word.
The reason I'm asking is because I made a new friend who is a Mormon, and I have become quite interested in the Religion. I still don't believe, I'm just interested because it is new to me. Anyway, the Mormons follow the King James Bible, and according to that version, after God is done in Israel and all those places, He says that verse and goes to see His other sheep, which the Mormons interpret as Him coming to America to see the Mormons. I hope I have that right...But it is definitely something along those lines. So I'm just wondering if that is strictly a Mormon ideal, or is there any mention of that in Catholocism. I asked my Mormon friend and she didn't know.

John 10:16
"And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd." (KJV)
"I have other sheep, too, that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice; and there will be one flock with one shepherd." (New Living Translation)
in my opinion, it's most likely speaking of the Gentiles, as Jesus was speaking to Jews and, to the best of my knowledge, this was before he went out into the Gentile community.
as for your questions, specifically i believe Catholics usually get a King James' or New King James', or any of the Catholic translations, like the New American Bible or the Christian Community Bible.
other religions um, references are scattered all over the place. are you just thinking about the "other fold" verse i mentioned?

Taralanthalasa Baptists' also use the King James Bible. well, at least the church I went to dose. 3nodding The Baptist church I go to uses NIV... it's an independant Baptist church now, so it might be a Baptist thing. I don't really see the point of using a Bible you can't understand. And that verse is about gentiles. And, Mormons also have things that contradict the Bible, so making a whole new religion on a wrong interpretation of one verse is a little stupid...

Voldemort point two And, Mormons also have things that contradict the Bible, so making a whole new religion on a wrong interpretation of one verse is a little stupid... That's nice. I'm going to point you to the rules sticky, specifically the emboldened part of Rule #2, that mentions respecting other Christian Denominations. And, no, only the Mormon Doctrine has mention of Christ coming to the Americas. If you want more info on it, you can get the straight truth about it from teh Boxy. He's honest and intelligent, a TBM who served an honorable mission, and wont try to abridge or explain away some of the 'weirder' things in Mormonism.

Wiccan Clarinet First off, which version of the Bible does the Catholic religion follow? Depends on the sub-sect. Usually KJV but there are sects that have sermons solely in Latin and still hold the tradition of barring personal interpretation. Which was a lot easier before the Bible was translated, and the public was mostly illiterate. Wiccan Clarinet Second, does anyone know if that particular version mentions any other religions? The verse I'm thinking about has something to do with Having other sheep that He must visit. I don't know it word for word. Eh, Burny already got'cha on that one. Wiccan Clarinet The reason I'm asking is because I made a new friend who is a Mormon, Oh dear. Wiccan Clarinet and I have become quite interested in the Religion. Abort! Abort! Abort mission! Abort! Wiccan Clarinet I still don't believe, I'm just interested because it is new to me. Anyway, the Mormons follow the King James Bible, And more importantly, the Book of Mormon. Wiccan Clarinet and according to that version, after God is done in Israel and all those places, He says that verse and goes to see His other sheep, which the Mormons interpret as Him coming to America to see the Mormons. I hope I have that right...But it is definitely something along those lines. So I'm just wondering if that is strictly a Mormon ideal, or is there any mention of that in Catholocism. I asked my Mormon friend and she didn't know. I highly doubt it actually had anything to do with the Americas, granted that the Americas weren't a hunk of land the men in Biblical lands knew of.

Mormons believe that Jesus visited the Americas, and that he will also the 10 lost tribes of Israel. This is basically saying that he is no longer just being the God of the Jews, but of all the people in the world. I know of this because I am Mormon.
