Pretty awesome, I have always wanted to know where my roots trace back to and I have finally found out biggrin . I was on the Ipower social network and this Canadian guy with the same surname as me commented me so I asked him if he knew the origin of our name. This is what he said:
"Pattyn, Patton, Pattin and yes Patten originates from early Germanic settlers in Rome but apparently that brand of tribe came from Scandinavia first. The name was very popular in Austria/Hungary at one point but as it is there aren't many of us left."
So I am a viking xd

All I know is that my ancestors came from Scotland, Ireland, and Germany.
Germany = Blind Guardian.
Blind Guardian = Epic Win.

The entirety of my history in my paternal family line is lost, courtesy of the Saint John, New Brunswick's town hall burning down not once, but twice, and with it, all our records are gone. My dad's father drank himself to death when he was a little boy so my dad never got to learn anything firsthand from the guy about our pre-Canadian history. My maternal family line lives on the other side of the country for the most part, and I find them boring to talk to, so I'm not very interested in asking. But my dad says I have about 320 years (6 generations, ish) of Canadian heritage immediately behind me, so at this point, there's no reasoning in my saying I am anything but Canadian.

Welcome back forger after your break on a even lighter one, after examining the back of my neck, I have come to the conclusion that somehow someone drew a swastika back there... I don't know how they did it without me noticing, especially because its under my hair

my dads side of the family-irish (my name Baxter is usually Scottish but it also has roots in Ireland and my great grandfather immigrated from Ireland so thats realy how i know)
my mothers side of the family Finnish (last names of my grandparents pajari and Lahti both Finnish) my great grandmother before she died when i was 10 she would always yell at me in Finnish i always found it hilarious.
